I joined total in 2020 fell in love with it. I’ve lifted over 12,000,000 pounds 1100 workouts but I have been really disappointed with the quality of trainers since you moved from California to New York firing everyone except woody.
I’ve been very dissatisfied with the models over the last few years and it turned me off. You do have new coaches but it’s still the old crew angry Joe, fake scream Ackeem - they’re not coaches their models. They don’t have the experience and skills of the old coaches. They don’t know the science behind body building and weight lifting that the old coaches like Jackson, Jared, Liv, or the diversity between straight, gay, female and male.
The male trainers are just a couple of loud gym rats. The kind of people people hate in the gym (and why I bought the tonal)
I’m trying to get back into it using old trainers, but it’s not the same. I don’t brag about the tonal anymore like I used too. It’s sad but if I didn’t lose my data, I would absolutely cancel my membership. You have a bunch of us over a hump and we are not fans of tonal but you hold our data hostage.
But with time, I’m not caring about that as much anymore either.

We love the programs and how it tracks our fitness progress. There’s a lot of different programs that keep you motivated and prevents you from getting bored. There are quirks with the machine where the buttons won’t work fast, sometimes it creaks. But overall solid product.
Having the programs allows me to come in and just work out. I don’t have to worry about planning out my own workouts. Just follow the coaching.
I love not having to go to a gym with men there. I only gave 4 stars because I wish there was more of variety of female coaches. Seems like one female coach is dominant and always suggested but unfortunately its very hard to follow her workouts. Shes not at good at her ques which makes it very hard to follow her workouts.
It’s a great way to stay in shape on your own program with progress you make with the various excellent coaches. I like it because it’s very easy to workout at home and not have to go to the gym and wait for availability of equipment.
The home gym is a great addition to my workout routine. Its sleek modern design allows it to blend in with the decor. While it’s superior technology simulate a custom experience, that’s difficult to find elsewhere.
Been an owner since Tonal began. On our 4th unit due to malfunctions. 2 replacements were free but the most recent cost an additional 800.00. We love the workouts with the coaches and the machine is solid. Customer support only gets a B . Room for improvement but that doesn’t mean we are unsatisfied. When something goes wrong or an installation needs to happen, that is when the owner experience suffers. That needs to be their focus at this point.
Overall we love our Tonal and use it several times per week. 5/5 stars when it's working. I'm giving 4/5 here since we've had a couple of reliability issues over the years that required service calls, but did return our unit to full functionality. We have a Tonal 1 and it's possible that Tonal 2 may have addressed these areas (shoulder pin, arm position sensor)
As a 50+ year old woman it’s an awesome tool to try and keep muscle strength up.
I like its flexibility in terms of custom
workouts. And I like the ability to work every muscle group.
Tonal has kept me consistently working out. Getting Tonal and my cardio workout done with an hour budget is the best stress and time management tool that keeps me full of energy!
Tonal has more built in exercises and workout options than I could ever need, which makes it easy for me to work out whenever I have the time. I also really appreciate that Tonal keeps a history of my progress, so I can look back and see how much my strength and endurance have improved over time.
The product itself feels high quality and well made, with materials that seem above standard. Somehow, I just feel good about Tonal overall, it has become a product I genuinely enjoy using. With the help of Tonal, I have noticed real improvements in both my endurance and strength.
Another big advantage is that it doesn’t require much space, which makes it very convenient. The connectivity and pairing with my other gadgets is also smooth and easy. And when there’s data or information I can’t access directly on the machine, the Tonal app fills in the gaps and gives me a more complete picture of my workouts and progress.

I like being able to pick and choose multiple options.

I've had Tonal for five years, and I can't keep my high reviews anymore. The pricing is made very inaccessible due to being $60 a month. It's $67 in Massachusetts. That is absurd pricing for something I've fully paid off for the physical hardware. I only use custom workouts, I haven't used coaches in 2 years. I still have to pay for the feature since everything else will disable as well, like the custom workouts, if I unsubscribe. There needs to be a lower tier subscription that removes coached programs and allows you to continue using the modular functions with custom workouts and weight modes. Tracking your weights etc are all disabled, even move sets. This seems like an insanely easy pivot to allow for a 35 dollars a month subscription for this type of tier. It would prevent so many people from ending up having to turn their Tonal into a wall ornament if they can no longer sustain paying 60 a month for their gym subscription.

Tonal is now broken down for the second time in a month. The service and repair scheduling has been nothing but brain damage and is extremely frustrating and the equipment is unreliable.

I absolutely love my Tonel. However, we’ve been experiencing glitches and screen freezing at times, which can make logging in difficult. But when it works, it’s fantastic. Our friends recently bought one after hearing about our experiences and referring them to you.
