Many ads looked fake. I saw two ads of potential tenants that appeared to be the same person wearing two sets of clothes, and neither responded to our inquiry. Those that did respond were flaky, at best. Would not recommend.

The fact that I got a response so quickly. You gave me a free upgrade for a few days. Plus it was easy to post my ad and pictures as well as editing.

It is very user friendly. You can check who is looking for a room and you can edit your advert with ease. I am very happy to use SpareRoom to advertise any vacancies we have

I had a really positive experience with SpareRoom. I ran into a verification issue, but Zane was incredibly helpful and resolved it very quickly. It made the process much smoother, and I really appreciated the fast support! :]

Well designed interphase. My only wish was to get rid of the "professional" moniker and change it to "employed". What does professional mean?? You could be a professional at living off the dole. Employed is much preferred.

Even tho I did not like the answer, the support was absolutely clear, kind and quick.

I have not found what I am looking for my son, but there are a lot of opportunities to be able to connect with a roommate for a room

I eventually found a great roommate but it took awhile. My ad slipped to the 4th page and I had paid for extra clicks and a boost. It was misleading. But overall I think it's a great site to look for a roommate. Nothing like it anywhere else.

I found Spareroom to have a significant number of qualified applicants, a decent web platform, but without warning Spareroom canceled my account, and said I had to provide them a copy of a rental agreement authorizing another tenant to live on the premises, and I was requested for a copy of my ID. I did email a copy of my ID, and explained that the building management authorizes additional tenants based on criminal background reports, and that anyone wishing to share a place with me would have to authorize management to run a criminal background check as a condition of becoming an authorized tenant in the building. After emailing this info, I never heard back from Magdalena at Spareroom.

Not sure what to make of it, but it seems like Spareroom micromanages their advertisers. If they are genuinely concerned about legitimacy they would have already verified the authenticity by contacting responders who have viewed the place.

So far I never received a response back from this Magdalena so taking steps to advertise with other platforms.
