No communication, overpriced and underperformance

We signed last week in January 2026. Didn't receive our copy of contract until the companies 3 day time limit to cancel had expired. After reading contract we seriously considered for fitting our $5,450 dollar deposit, unfortunately we didn't. System pavers would not return calls or emails, we sincerely thought they had declared bankruptcy. We were given 4 start dates, they were no shows on them all. Finally third week of June got a text the construction team would be here in 30 minutes. That team consisted of hector, (nice guy, spoke English) and 3 other non English speaking helpers. For $54,000 I expected more. System pavers uses the least expensive materials, outsources their labor and does not provide oversight. In addition the plan provided 3 months after signing was pathetic and lacking in detail. We ended up paying them to leave. I have no confidence in their work lasting as the depth of excavation was insufficient, soil compacting was minimal and incorrect sand was used to set pavers. In addition my driveway was damaged by delivery truck and hectors crew backing into the concrete, ( I have both on camera). I have tried to contact their employee joe but have not received a response. System pavers web page is slick but now the whole approach seems like a bait and switch. Before you choose this company do yourself a favor and Google them on the better business bureau. And no joe I won't delete my review.

Do not choose system pavers

We chose System Pavers because they were the premium option. They were also the highest bid we received (around $38,000), but we believed we were paying for quality, expertise, and project management. Their sales presentation was impressive, and we were told they would coordinate everything for our pool patio remodel.

Unfortunately, our experience looked nothing like the polished videos we were shown.

The project stretched from February 5 until May 14 and required constant homeowner involvement. Instead of having a project manager ensuring the work met quality standards, I felt like I became the project's quality-control inspector, inspecting every stage of construction, discovering mistakes, documenting issues, and asking for them to be corrected. I expected to hire a contractor. Instead, I spent three months acting as the quality-control inspector for my own project.
During the project we dealt with broken pool pipes, damage to our pool aerator, fill tank, and underground plumbing, uncapped sprinkler lines beneath the patio, missing weed barriers, uneven pool coping, improper edging, damaged landscaping, and extensive construction debris left throughout our property and neighboring yards. In addition, several pieces of our personal property were damaged or destroyed, including a broken pool net, broken garden hoses, a seven-foot wooden shade post that workers used as a cutting surface, and a planter that was thrown away after crews moved retaining wall blocks to drive equipment through our yard. We also endured weeks of piles of pavers, dirt, rocks, and construction materials stacked in front of both our home and neighboring properties, along with plastic bottles, McDonald's bags, and other food waste left behind by crews.

One thing that became obvious was the lack of communication between departments. The salesperson promised certain things that the installation crews clearly never knew about. For example, we specifically discussed reusing our landscape rock, but it was thrown away during demolition because that information never reached the crew.

Customer service became increasingly frustrating. When we emailed management documenting workmanship concerns, we received little response regarding the actual problems but had no trouble receiving payment requests. During one phone call, the project manager told us, "We thought the ship had sailed on customer service." Hearing that after months of issues was incredibly disappointing.

One issue that really damaged our trust involved the sprinkler system beneath the patio. When water started shooting through the middle of the new pavers, we were initially told the lines had definitely been capped and it must simply be leftover water. Once someone inspected the problem in person, the response became, "Oh, we must not have capped them."

Because multiple pool components had already been damaged during demolition, I insisted on having the underground plumbing pressure tested before resurfacing the pool. That test found additional damage that required repair before the pool could be completed. Had we not pushed for that testing, the pool company told us hidden leaks could have remained beneath newly installed plaster.
Near the end of the project, I refused to sign the Certificate of Completion until the remaining work was finished. I was initially told work would have to be delayed if I didn't sign first. After refusing, management then said they would finish the work regardless of my signature. That experience left me questioning why there was so much pressure to sign paperwork before the project was actually complete.

To be fair, not everything was negative.

The second project manager, Jose Corral, completely changed the direction of the project. He was knowledgeable, honest, respectful, and immediately recognized many of the quality issues that had been overlooked. He worked hard to make things right and deserves recognition because he was the one person who consistently treated us like valued customers.

Looking back, I don't regret investing in our home—I regret having to spend three months acting as the quality-control inspector on a premium-priced project. Homeowners shouldn't have to monitor every phase of construction just to ensure the work is completed correctly.

If you're considering System Pavers, keep detailed written records, photograph every phase of the project, inspect everything before it gets covered up, and don't sign completion paperwork until every punch-list item has been completed. I sincerely hope our experience was the exception, but unfortunately it was one of the most stressful home improvement projects we've ever undertaken.

DON’T SIGN ANYTHING WITHOUT REVIEWING…

DON’T SIGN ANYTHING WITHOUT REVIEWING ALL THE TERMS OF THE CONTRACT!!! Representative assured us the only exclusions to the warranty were for “acts of God”. Signed contract electronically and made a down payment. Didn’t get copy of contract back for a week. Saw that warranty didn’t cover shifting soil, which was our main concern. Cancelled contract immediately. System Pavers refused to return down payment because the cancellation occurred more than 3 days after it was signed.

This company is the best example of…

This company is the best example of "You get what you pay for". We needed a driveway extension and also wanted our front porch and steps to match. We got 5 different quotes, and even though they came in higher than some, they do a great job of educating you on why, and they have all the receipts to back that up. We went with them for that peace of mind, the unmatched warranty, and knowing it would be done correctly and not falling apart in a couple years. They way they manage the entire project from the first to last step, is a constant reminder on why they are worth it. They run this ship like a well oiled machine! Every appointment was so professional, always on time, and always informative.
From the very first appointment with Joe, he was so kind and personable and informative. He really treats the whole appointment like an educational session, and I understand why now. I was thankful for all the information, and how non-salesy he is, no pressure and just really comfortable and detailed as well. He provided very professional, detailed drawings and photos of what it would look like.
When we met the project manager, Chris, he was just as friendly and personable and informative. He kept us updated at every step, and was on top of every detail. He always texted us updates, and very communicative.
The crew they sent out - AMAZING. Not only did they get the job done in half the time, but their attention to detail was above and beyond! They were very friendly, and top notch on their work ethic. On the final clean up day, I was expecting maybe an hour of tidying up, but what I got was one extremely dedicated guy that spent 5 hours METICULOUSLY double checking every inch of my entire yard, even the areas that they did not work on. He cleaned every inch of our yard, the street, the driveway and even part of our neighbors! He held a level AGAIN at every section of the pavers and double checked it, and then he cleaned and cleaned and cleaned. Every time I thought he was almost done, he'd come back with a new tool for more cleaning. Truly, I've never seen a crew work so hard and diligently and be so scrupulous with their attention to detail.
You also get a portal to track the entire project, and to access all the warranty and contract docs that no one wants to file anyway.
I would highly highly recommend System Pavers for any project, and we will absolutely use them again. Thank you!

They installed the wrong color pavers…

They installed the wrong color pavers and then expected us to pay the difference to fix the install. They did come and fix a step that I did not like under warranty that looked unstable. I have tried to get into the website to print the receipt and my account is blank. I paid almost 10k for pavers I don't like and I can't even get a receipt. I have emailed the company several times and got the standard "I forwarded your request to the Fremont office" but no response in a month. Emailed them again but I'm not hopeful. I wish I had known this company had such terrible customer service.

Putting green and Paver

We could not be happier with our new putting green and paver. Mario Meza's crew did an amazing job. Very professional and detail work from start to finish. Hugh thanks to Jason Beard, Project Manager, for checking on the job and Marissa Valdez , Sales Representative, for turning our lot into a golfers dream. All are an asset to System Pavers in San Antonio, Texas.

Backyard turf Project

We recently had our backyard transformed with artificial turf by System Pavers, and working with Caesar Ortiz as our project manager made the entire experience outstanding from start to finish.
From the initial consultation, Caesar was incredibly professional, knowledgeable, and attentive. He took the time to understand our vision, explained the process clearly, and provided helpful recommendations tailored to our space and needs. His communication throughout the project was excellent — we always knew what to expect and when.
Caesar managed the turf installation with precision and efficiency. The crew showed up on time, the work was completed on schedule, and the quality of the installation was top-notch. He made sure every detail was handled correctly, and the end result is a beautiful, low-maintenance backyard that looks and feels amazing.
Thanks to Caesar's leadership and dedication, the entire process was smooth and stress-free. We’re thrilled with how our backyard turned out and would highly recommend Caesar Ortiz and the System Pavers team to anyone considering a turf project in San Diego.

Our patio is finished

We have a back patio with pavers. It took 7+ months to get the permit, and I had to help with that. There was some minor spacing in the roof slats; that had to be fixed, we didn’t want leaks. The posts had spaces, that had to be filled in. There were leaks in the beams, that had to be fixed. The down spout emptied onto the pavers. That had to be fixed to empty into the rocks. When I asked our project manager if he considered this a positive outcome, he reminded us that everything was fixed. Well, those errors shouldn’t have happened in the first place. A permit shouldn’t take 7 months. Also, 2 sprinkler heads were left behind. Error after error, and we went a whole summer without the patio. We can finally enjoy it, but the process was disheartening.

Awful experience

Awful experience. Last year they gave me a quote, drawing etc. and I applied for credit to pay for the project. They came one day, did some measurements and said that they cannot do the project. But they charged me $2183.60 in June 2024 which I noticed six months later. So, credit card company isn't helping me. I will file a claim with BBB but this is atrocious and everyone should know that they should not work with this company.

The look in my wife's eyes when…

First the look in my wife's eyes when she saw the completed patio. Kevin Madden provided great insight as to which stone and pattern would look best taking the time explain in detail the process of financing; removal of the existing patio, installing of the new patio.
Nicolas came out to review the project with me before any work was started. The paver installation crew did an exceptional job in removing the old patio. They did an excellent job installing the new paver patio and removing all of the debris from my yard

I couldn't be more thrilled with the work System Pavers did on my backyard! From start to finish, the team exceeded my expectations in every way.

Cesar Alvarado, the project manager, is truly exceptional. His eye for detail and ability to visualize the outcome made the entire process seamless. He took the time to explain every step, ensuring I was comfortable and confident in the decisions being made.

Janel Jones, who helped me with financing, was a joy to work with. She's personable, well-informed, and made what could have been a stressful process completely hassle-free.

Paulino, the hands-on craftsman, is incredibly skilled and hardworking. His dedication to ensuring the design was executed perfectly was evident throughout the project. He’s not afraid to get his hands dirty, and his craftsmanship is top-notch.

Thanks to System Pavers, my dry, drab backyard has been transformed into a stunning resort-like oasis. I now have a space I’m proud to share with family and friends. If you’re considering a backyard makeover, look no further than System Pavers—they’ll bring your vision to life and then some!

Will not stand behind failed paver "system"

System Pavers is HIGHLY motivated and well optimized to make the sale – but they WILL NOT stand behind their “system.” If/when problems develop (even due to their own failures), you are on your own.

After a very high-pressure sales pitch (disguised as a “design meeting”) with all the accoutrements (fancy PowerPoint demonstration, a copy of their very large surety bond, commitments that they will stand behind us, and a “discount” that magically expired the same day), System Pavers completed our $60k backyard paver project in September 2021. Over the next few weeks, the pavers began to separate, sag, and “crown.” Also, the drainage in many areas was toward the house, not away from it. They did come back a couple of times to remove pavers, recompact, and reset. However, when failures continued, they asked us to let the system fail for another year so they would only have to do a major rehabilitation once. When that year elapsed, they were nowhere to be found. Very difficult to get them to come back out. Then, instead of fixing the failed system, they had a soils engineer evaluate. The engineer’s report confirmed they did not properly prepare the subgrade. They recently sent an email essentially saying they didn’t want to keep spending money on their failed system. They also claimed the warrantee would not cover the repairs. They are simply walking away, leaving us with an unsafe, embarrassing backyard and a worthless major investment. What a joke. PLEASE DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY.

Mostly just an Overpriced understaffed Phone Bank

Pros:
Slick Sales Pitch
Fancy Website

Cons:
Subcontracts ALL the work
Heavy Overhead
1) Sales Manager (never seen)
2) Phone support ("Please wait for the next representative")
3) email support (answered only half of my messages)
4) Lots of text messages even though I said "No Texts".
5) Project coordinator (first one never showed); second one was onsite a total of 3 hours out of a total of 70 hours wall clock time

The first crew spoke no English and I speak no Spanish. Crew began work destroying stuff a full hour before the "Project Coordinator" showed up. By then I was fed up with the crew and vice versa. They left. "Project Coordinator" said it was my fault because I insulted them.

By now I had paid 2/3 of the project cost even though almost nothing had actually been done onsite.

The second crew arrived the next day. "Project Coordinator" spent an hour with the crew and disappeared. I didn't see or hear from him for 6 days. The crew finished (after blowing a thick layer of concrete dust from the sawing operations all over everything) and left.

The next day "Project Coordinator"  shows up for a "Final Inspection". It fails due to drainage problems. 3 days go by and the crew shows up unannounced to fix the drains. This time they pass.

"Project Coordinator" sends yet another text saying he will stop by for final payment. But he never shows. He repeats this scenario a second time.

I sent a message to the company asking for a different "Project Coordinator". He shows up with the final paperwork but it is wrong. The amendments aren't included. We rescheduled for the next day. This time everything is correct.

Good thing. I'm REALLY tired of the incompetence demonstrated by this company.

If I had the name of the crew they hired, I could have hired them directly, bought the materials myself and reduced the cost of the project by 40%.

But they say: You are covered by warranty and "Full Satisfaction Guarantee or your money back". Yes with all the typical "fine print" that effectively nullifies both.
