His Workmanship Reviews 

Being a senior now, my wife and cardiologist tell me I shouldn’t be doing this yard work any more, so I hired two young college students to come out and spread mulch for us. Initially, Eric provided necessary communication and scheduling. Then Mark and Logan arrived promptly, for the three hours I hired them for (9-12). They were polite, considerate and thorough. They had the two yards of mulch in place and spread in less than an hour! Problem was, only about half the job was done… so I went and got 20 more bags and brought it back… they wheelbarrowed and spread it, then, another trip for 20 more, and then finally done! With 45 minutes to spare! Good workers👍. The total experience was positive. They are a Christian company, and perhaps not everyone would do it, but if you read Ephesians 2, it’s good for a $20 discount. That’s a blessing. Recommended…👍

I liked the speed of the response, although was surprised that the price per hour was 20% lower in the ad than what I was quoted. My job was able to be scheduled within a few days, very helpful. Workers were punctual, polite, and sincere. Unfortunately not as experienced as I’d hoped, considering the hourly rate. The only power tool they brought for a lot of weed removal was a small hedge trimmer, which ran out of battery after about a half hour. I was able to charge it somewhat & it was used again, but if it had been stronger & actually charged, they could have used it and/or a power weed eater to get through areas quicker. Some areas weren’t touched, some weeds were only cut halfway down rather than removed as asked. Who does that - I wasn’t paying for shorter weeds…. Rather than piling debris on the tarps I bought & dragging it to the front, they hand carried smaller amounts, making the clean up, which wasn’t that great, take longer instead of tackling some areas that hadn’t been touched. It was really hot and they had to have been miserable, but overall I felt the result was overpriced for what had been accomplished. It felt more like a couple of guys in the neighborhood had offered to work on my yard, rather than a professional company with professional prices. I wish the workers the best in their vocational pursuits, but won’t use the company again.

Update in Response to Company’s Reply:
I had no doubt you both were sincere in your work. I attempted to word my comments as observations rather than criticism. However I stand by my original comments and will address your specific points.

-The short life of the cordless trimmer is exactly what I referred to in our conversation about not having professional level equipment. I know nothing about how your fee is divided up, but can only speak from paying $120/hour as the customer. I felt that if the power trimmer had lasted longer, and/or you’d had more experience, either it or a weed eater could have been used to cut back areas in addition to the one fenceline, such as the areas around the 3 tree stumps, which were only cut shorter (but the stumps still can’t be seen amidst the weeds), or the weeds/saplings around the shed in the bottom corner of the yard (untouched), or even the large weed next to the gate, which I did ask to be cut again since it was still about 12-18” high after someone had cut the brown “blooms” off the top.

- Agree 100% that we agreed the grass at the base of the fence could be left till last. However this is another area of inexperience, in my mind. Presuming that one of you had brought a weed eater, it could still have come in handy to remove some of the taller items noted above, allowing more work to get done quicker. But no weed eater was ever produced, so IDK whether you had one to make use of.

- No mention was made by me regarding removing anything “at the roots.“ In fact, I specifically stated that there would be no digging that day. I did, however, expect that as much as possible, anything that you removed would be removed at the ground. I remember explaining that I was going to come around after you were finished and spray with round up, because I had been fighting these same weeds and saplings for over 20 years.

- I did make the suggestion of using the tarp to pile up the debris that you were taking to the front of the house. I heard your explanation that you were afraid it wouldn’t fit through the gate. A simple response to that is - just don’t overload the tarp with wide items. I have been using a tarp on my own for over 20 years to remove limbs, sticks, and leaves that used to come from the trees that are now simply stumps, and I know it can be done. Once again in my mind, I chalked it up to a lack of experience.

- One final comment which I did not even mention in my initial review, was that I had explained to the team leader that my neighborhood offers the service of a “chipper truck“ that will come around and pick up yard waste as long as it has a woody type stem. I explained that the items to be picked up by the truck needed to be piled up with the stems going in the same direction so that they could easily be picked up by those workers when they came by. I believe I repeated myself when the second worker arrived, however, I’m not sure that I repeated the instruction about having the stems all face in the same direction. Unfortunately, this instruction apparently was forgotten because I was left with two tarps full of debris on my driveway, which is where I instructed them to go, that I needed to sort through so that I could find the items that the chipper truck would actually accept, and put them at the curb with all the stems going in the same direction. I did appreciate one of the workers putting debris that was clearly not meant for the chipper truck into lawn bags I had provided. So sorry I was unable to control the weather.

My townhome HOA doesn’t replace or repair our edging. I had 100 feet of edging replaced. The crew got here right on time. Finished the job within the time frame, did a great job and even cut my old edging up and put it in my trash can! I liked knowing the cost up front. Will use again. Deb from Woodbury

I can’t tell you wonderful my experience has been with his workmanship! Correspondence with Eric kept me updated and my crew worked hard and were amazing! My garden projects are beyond expectations and I will definitely have them back again! I can’t recommend them enough.

Joseph and Audry were real troopers with the weeding and clean up we had at our place. They took to their tasks at a good pace and continued diligently for the full day, even with the weather being 90+ degrees and humid.

It was a pleasure to have such reliable, responsible and capable young men work with attention to detail on my yard. I watched each one of them circle back to pick up dropped yard waste which was small enough for most to overlook. They were diligent and ethical. It was a brutally hot day, yet they didn't use this as a reason to slack off.

Good communication. Showed up on time. good workers. Cleaned up before leaving.

Both our landscapers where on time, worked very hard and did everything we had planned. The were polite, kind and thoughtful.

Mark and Joey did a fantastic job on our yard! They were punctual, friendly, accommodating and hardworking. Couldn’t have asked for better! I referred my neighbor to His Workmanship and they booked a few weeks later…also nothing but great things to say about the work and company. I will definitely book again with my next yard project, thanks for making the process so simple!

The crew did not finish the job and left yard a mess and did not have to proper tools for the job. They asked my wife if they could borrow a wheelbarrow. They called me at work to let me know that the work was complete (which is was not). I came home to a mess and had to spend time finishing the job and cleaning up the driveway. I would not recommend this company for any projects.

I was in a crunch and needed some yard work ASAP. I stumbled on to “His Workmanship”. Their website was super user friendly, quick to respond and communication was top notch. The two man crew showed up on time. They were courteous and worked the entire duration of their scheduled time. They even finished up a bit early and were willing to do a bit extra to fill the requested time scheduled.
Do not hesitate to reach out to His Workmanship if you need some helping hands with your landscaping!
I don’t think you will be disappointed.

Eric coordinated very well and was a good communicator. Matthew and Matt worked very diligently on a hot day installing our mulch. Plus they were really pleasant. Overall the charge for the work done was a great value.

The young men that came to do the lawn work were punctual and got straight to work. They were polite and kept me in the loop.

Eric coordinated everything and was an excellent communicator. Austin and Ethan did an amazing job cleaning up an area in our yard that was full of weeds and debris. The ground was hard as a rock but they didn’t complain a bit, just got started right away and worked steadily the entire time. It now looks great and I’m grateful for their hard work. I will definitely use His Workmanship again.

Great team! Friendly, helpful, Did great work. Able to do the variety of items I needed: mulching, planting, pruning, grass planting, edging reset. They worked quickly but carefully to complete the tasks I had given them.

I hired this company to help get the overgrown weeds out my Mom's backyard perimeter. I was able to keep her front rock gardens weeded, but the backyard was too much for me to handle. Scheduling the project with Eric was a breeze. All 4 of the crew members (Micah, Silis, Everett and Will) were absolutely amazing! They all arrived ahead of schedule, were polite, professional and extremely hard working. It was a large project and they worked up the last minute. They pulled the weeds out by hand! Getting the roots and all! This is what was needed so the I could put weed preventive down to hopefully help keep them from returning en mass.

The crew arrived on time and did an outstanding job as usual. I would highly recommend this company. Thanks!

The two employees arrived on time, were kind and communicative and did their work well. We will call them again if and when we need more weeding done!

Dylan and his helper were wonderful. They were very hard workers and did an excellent job. They were very polite and cleaned up before they left. They came out a couple days after I called. I highly recommend this company.
