It took a little longer than i thought but the communication was outstanding.
.. DO NOT FALL FOR THIS TRAP! They charge you an additional 20% of the fee on the accounts. Essentially, you end up paying for the entire account. Be smart and make arrangements with the credit card company, and you will pay less.
Being in this position and taking this first step was a little scary. Lydia was beyond kind, empathetic and helpful. She took the time and explained everything in a way I could understand and I feel hopeful this will be a great solution for me. So far, everyone I have spoken to has been great.

They closed my account without my consent, and admitted fault, which helped me in no way. They also notified me of a legal appearance I should attend after it had already occurred. Transactionally, outside of hoarding funds that I put into the account on schedule and not using them timely, they can get the job done on the creditor negotiation front, but honestly, so could you on your own. It's not a prowess they singularly own. When it comes to legal protection, guidance, counsel, you'd be better off googling how to do that on your own. I have true documented instances with easy proof to be shared. This is the first review I've ever left on anything in my life, so felt the need to in this instance

Elle was so helpful! I was VERY nervous about this process but she was very honest with me and helped me with more than debt management - she spent time with me on my new budget to make sure everything was aligning with what my goals and needs are. I was very scared but definitely feel like I’m in a much better place now.

I enrolled w Five Lakes in 2024. I paid timely payments (deposits) every month on time. On May 13,2026 a settlement offer and acceptance was made for ALL of my enrolled accounts and confirmed by representative Amina for $1517.85. Payment was processed on May 14,2026. They stated I would receive a “graduation” letter in ~ 2 weeks. It never came.
The accounts were 1. Citibank 2. Discover 3. Capital One/Walmart 4. Capital One.
All were paid EXCEPT 4. Capital One.
Five Lakes did not include this, as agreed. They now wanted to make me another offer which includes paying AGAIN for Capital One.
Five Lakes attempted to withdraw deposits from my account on May 22,2026, after the offer was accepted and paid on May 14, 2026.
I have tried to resolve this by management by way of calls, chat bots, and letters with no success. I have asked to speak with Amina who made the offer and they will not forward me to her to resolve. Their calls are recorded so this can be verified.
This is incredibly frustrating because they so skillfully negotiated all my other debt, but the remaining creditor hangs in the balance. I have been affected by not being able to refinance my car at a lower rate and getting higher rent rates due to my credit score.
Five Lakes was fantastic up until the final payment and I am deeply grateful. Until then, the balance on Capital One continues to accumulate.
I would not choose Five Lakes again because they did honor their offer and acceptance.
