DO NOT RENT IF YOU HAVE A PET
If you have a pet that so much as TOUCHES any furniture you rent from CORT, they will claim it as a TOTAL LOSS upon return.
Rented furniture from CORT and had a terrible experience at the end of my lease. They tried to charge me over $1,000 claiming multiple items were a “total loss” due to a supposed “strong odor” despite minimal visible wear and no actual damage to most of the furniture.
What’s frustrating is that the claim felt completely exaggerated and inconsistent. Some items looked nearly perfect in their own photos, while others with more visible wear weren’t even included in the charges. There was no real evidence provided beyond a blanket statement about odor, which is subjective and not something they backed up with any kind of documentation or testing. My signature was also forged on the pickup document that they sent me, which is an entirely separate issue.
When I called them the district manager was extremely rude and condescending, claiming there was nothing they could do and that they expect this to happen with pets. In fact, he actually said I got 'LUCKY' that they didn't charge me more!
It honestly feels like they inflate damage claims at the end of leases hoping customers will just pay without pushing back.
I’d strongly recommend taking photos before move-out and carefully reviewing any charges they try to add. Be prepared to dispute anything that doesn’t seem justified.
