I obviously clicked on to clarity check to check a scam number which was free or at least that’s what they said it was however it is not free in fact it has cost me £180 as they carried on month after month taking money from my account and knowing this they will not refund what they have taken so they are more dangerous than the scammers themselves I was checking. Be aware of this company. Do not deal with them at all take the risk of tbd scammers it will save you money in the end. They think this is good practice to take of a widow pensioner. This company should be dissolved.

I wanted a number checking on this website paid the small fee and thought that was it.
I’ve just gone to my bank and been charged £29.99. I didn’t take out a subscription as it was only a one off number I wanted to search at the time.
I don’t work due to ill health and on benefits struggling to live so this isn’t great adding to my stress I already have in life at the minute.

A Scam
This website is an absolute shameless scam. They will pride themselves on having unmatched services and helping you out only to 1. not do jack shit when it comes to detecting an unknown number and 2. integrate an, if not illegal, immoral way of laundering money from you with its automatic subscription. basically, if you pay for any one time service, they will take it as a subscription and charge a shit ton of money without informing you. ABSOLUTE ASS. Hope they get what they deserve and I would not recommend anyone engage with this DOGSHIT service.

Misleading billing - Scam subscription
I paid 1 euro for a single one-time search report, and they automatically charged me 30 euros for a hidden subscription that I never authorized. This is a complete scam and deceptive billing. I want my subscription canceled permanently and an immediate full refund of my money.

I paid a small fee to get a phone number check not realising that I was signing up for a trial period. This was not clear when they were offering this. I have now been charged with £29.99 for a service I don't want or need. I've certainly made sure I've now cancelled my unwanted subscription. Be careful with this site. There are other places you can check numbers for free.

I agreed exclusively to a one-time trial lookup fee of arround 1 $. I got charged 40$ for a monthly subscription even though i never agreed to such a payment or never saw a bill mentioning these 40$ before payment or afterwards. I emailed the company no later than 14 days asking for a refund according to the EU Directive 2011/83/EU.

Clarity check is clearly a scam
Clarity check is clearly a scam, the information they could provide on my OWN phone number was not only incomplete but completely wrong, they continued charging me after the one payment. I contacted my bank the informed me they are a known scammer and that future payments from Danske Bank would be blocked. Please don't use this. Private intelligence and private detectives exist, they are expensive and there is a reason for it. I have reported this company to the Danish consumer protection agency who will hopefully deny DNS access across Denmark.

Clarity Check attempted to withdraw a payment of £29.99 from my account. I never gave my explicit, informed consent to enter into a contract or subscription with them.
A recurring subscription, its cost, the frequency of payment and the way a trial or introductory payment converts into continuing charges should be displayed prominently before payment - not simply included in terms and conditions or communicated afterwards. Customers should have to give clear and informed consent to the subscription itself.
This is consistent with guidance from the US Federal Trade Commission, which states that subscription sign-ups must provide clear, prominent and upfront information and obtain the consumer’s express informed consent. The federal Restore Online Shoppers’ Confidence Act also requires businesses to disclose all material terms before obtaining payment details and to provide a simple way to stop recurring charges. The FTC has specifically warned businesses against using “dark patterns” that trick or trap consumers into subscriptions through free trials or reduced-price introductory offers. If you are offered a service for £1/$1, check carefully first whether this is seen as confirmation that you agree to a further subscription.
