Had a Laser Trabeculoplasty procedure done for Glaucoma. All staff including opthalmologist were very courteous and professional. Results were good and periodic follow ups indicate stable IOP.

It is December 2022, my search for a good eye surgeon has led me to the Eye Hospital of Denmark, Ojenhospitalet Danmark, Charlottenlund.
My vision is rapidly deteriorating due to advanced cataract of both eyes, and I have finally faced the fact that I will go blind before I'm taken to the graveyard.
I'm deadly afraid of having anything done to my eyes, let alone change of the lens in both eyes.
First a comprehensive eye examination, diagnosis confirmed and overall health of the eyes notes. The eye surgeon at this time, confirmed that the surgery could probably restore the vision, but I would need glasses for reading.
Surgery a week later, monofocal lens implant in both eyes, same distance vision both eyes, and what a difference. Having one's vision restored is truly an amazing experience, nothing compares.
It is now about 5 months since the surgery and my vision is great, I only use glasses for small print, in my case perhaps 2 or 3 times a month. I have had no issues of any kind with my eyes since the surgery, no dryness, no watery eyes, no unusual fatigue of the eyes.
I'm grateful for the good care I received from the staff at the Hospital and especially grateful to Dr. Johan Lonsmann Poulsen MD, the eye surgeon himself, for his excellent surgical skills, his friendly and reassuring persona and most of all for having given me my eyesight back.
In addition a few words about sedation/anesthesia, that may be of interest to some. I'm unable to lie flat secondary to an inner-ear dysfunction, having anesthesia during the surgery was needed.
On the day of surgery I met with a nurse that explained what to expect before and after the surgery. My clothes above waist I took off, put on a hospital shirt, my clothes below the waist, including my shoes, I kept on. Then a brief meeting with the Anesthesiologist. I'm escorted to the operating room, on to the operating table, a tiny stick at the back of my hand to gain access to my vascular system, and I'm out. The next thing I know is when I hear "We're all done". I'm a little groggy, assisted into a wheelchair, wheeled to the Recovery Department, and into bed I go. A friendly nurse at my bedside, chatting with me while she monitors my vital signs for about 10 or 15 minutes. I'm then served a delicious light lunch. I'm now feeling well, I get dressed and say thank you and good bye. A short walk to the train station, took the local train to where I'm staying, and once there I felt like going for a walk, walked for about 30 minutes, enjoying the sights.
I never thought I would use the word beautiful and surgery in the same sentence, but to me this whole experience was a beautiful one, thanks to all the highly skilled and dedicated professionals that took care of me.

I am so impressed and satisfied with the service! Johan is a five stars eye doctor and he’a been the first doctor that has given me a clue to what might be causing my eye pain. Been suffering of eye pain for more than 15 years and and I’ve never had received such attention to my problem as I’ve received at this hospital.
Genuinely thankful for the help I am receiving from there. I am now following a plan that the doctor has given me and I am looking forward to feel further results. At this point I feel I am i good hands. Thank you!

I wanted to have a multi-focal lens replacement so I wouldn't need to wear glasses. After researching in the USA where I live, I found the prices to be very high. I started searching around the world and found Øjenhospitalet Danmark to be not only cheaper but with a superior procedure. Gustav, the director was helpful in explaining the procedure and making sure I was a good candidate.
I flew into Copenhagen and scheduled to stay a few days after so I could make sure the recovery was going well. Dr. Lonsmann performed the surgery. It was of high quality and standards and a professional experience. It was painless and much easier than I had anticipated. I was by myself and easily took the train to and from the hospital.
With the money I saved, I was able to have a nice 2 week holiday and I still saved money compared to the USA prices.
One month later I am very happy with the whole experience and would do it again.

I had a great experience with my thorough examination. If you're in a situation where you can't wait to go through the normal channels, I fully recommend this clinic/hospital. All staff members were friendly and professional.
