Bad practice.
In English: Movistar has found a new way to make easy money. You want to use the QR code reader on your phone and scan a code, assuming it’s for the QR code reader, but moments later you receive a message saying you’ve subscribed to Avast Cleanup Emocion. And then it’s impossible to get rid of it. It’s unbelievable that this sort of practice is allowed in Europe

A telecommunications company that is…
A telecommunications company that is unable to communicate. Great job. Not sure if I can use expletives here -- they deserve many of them. Horrible company. Less than 1 out of 5. Typical Spanish lazy gangsters.
Not a Movistar !!!
The first time the team for the installation came and went totally incompetent and checked after half an hour they decided to leave and never heard back from them… after calling repeatedly CUSTOMER SERVICE we got two new appointments and they never showed up
Just my advice : go Vodafone
Three booked appointments-nobody never…
Three booked appointments-nobody never shows up, nobody announces anything. Absolutely worst service ever. Let’s see for how long we are without internet.
My 14 year old daughter and I walked…
My 14 year old daughter and I walked into the Santa Eulalia shop looking to buy a prepaid sim card. The young male & female that were serving at the time made us feel unwelcome from the moment we entered the store. They informed us that they didn't sell prepaid SIM cards so we left immediately. As we were leaving the shop we looked round & they were laughing at us. Appalling customer service. We went down the road around 100 metres & found an Orange store. They could not have been more polite & helpful & we had our Sim card within minutes. Complete contrast to our earlier Movistar experience!
Overcharges you when you leave
I took an offer with them 5years ago. It came with a free router. I left after more than 4 years as a client and now they are sending me a bill for 85 euro for an unreturned router. The router was advertised as free in the offer.
They cancelled my cancellation
On 25th June I cancelled my fiber internet by phone, it is bad enough that they force you to call them to cancel, that already should be illegal. They said it couldn't be cancelled immediately, and scheduled it for 9th July. I returned the router to a locker in a store nearby. Then today 2nd July, I got an email saying that the cancellation was cancelled and I can continue to "enjoy their services". The only problem is I never approved that. They did it automatically. I can't believe things like this can still happen, they should be investigated. Now they are making me call them again to cancel. Wish me luck.
Very dishonest
Very dishonest. We discovered we have been paying for TV we don't use. Even though we were clear when we signed up that we don't even own a TV. We read and use stream services only. They verbally verbalized they understood. Then we found out we have been charged for ~ 1 year for TV. Funniest part is the charges go back 3 months BEFORE we sign up with them (we weren't even in the country yet). Placed a dispute and were told they will give us back 23 Euros in a month (though they overcharged us ~ 150 Euros). The response also stated they did nothing wrong. Their definition of wrong must be different than that of honest businesses.
Also very unreliable. Our internet is spotty from the beginning despite fiber and choosing to pay for the best internet. They finally agreed to come to the apartment to check it out today. Surprise: they did not show up at all. The appointment was between 8-10am. This afternoon they sent a text stating they needed to come check our internet at home and to call to make an appointment. No apology for just not showing up at all while we waited here all day just in case.
Sorry we chose them at all. I recommend you avoid if possible.
Movistar is a very bad experience
Movistar is a very low class company where you can expect some adding to the bill you have never asked for. I decided to find a better option.
All equipment received from Movistar was returned to one of their their offices on the 23 April. I asked them to cancel my subscription and they said OK.
After having received an invoice late May, I went to the same store and to my big surprise was explained that you a store cannot cancel a subscription.
Keep away from Movistar.
My booster died yesterday
My booster died yesterday. I called them in the evening, and this morning they delivered a new one to my house. They even helped translate from English on the phone because my Spanish isn't great.
Really impressed with the service.
Charging for a service that wasn't available in my village
I explained that I had discovered that I was charged for approximately 5 years for a service that was not available in my village. I asked if Movistar could do something about that as i was paying double. The attendant said he couldn't do anything, I should receive a refund for overpayment. I also said that the internet service was so poor that I often turn it off and get better signal. I cancelled the service and received a call later that day offering me mobile, internet and tv for 20 euros a month, i've been paying 70. I told the assistant I wasn't interested. I will cancel my other Movistar services soon as they should have offered me a refund for the years I overpaid.
Verification issue with Movistar app
Dear Movistar Customer Support,
I would like to file a formal complaint regarding the verification process in the Movistar app, which currently prevents me from accessing and using the application.
The app does not allow me to complete the advanced verification process because it refuses to accept my NIE card without a photo, while at the same time rejecting my passport simply because it is not a Spanish passport. As a result, I am completely blocked from using the app and accessing services I am paying for. As a foreign permanent resident in Spain and a customer with your company for 7 years, I find this unacceptable. Considering the current level of technology and digital verification standards, it is extremely disappointing that a major telecommunications company in Spain still operates a system that creates unnecessary barriers for foreign residents and customers.
I would appreciate clarification on whether this is an official Movistar policy, as the current process appears discriminatory toward non-Spanish users and makes access to basic services unnecessarily difficult.
I kindly ask you to review this issue urgently and provide a solution as soon as possible.
4 months later and still waiting on them to return 225 €
Upon opening my account, because I did not have a Spanish document (only had foreign passport) I was told I needed to pay a 225 € deposit that would be returned to me after 6 months of service. I should have been given the deposit back as of January 8th, it is now May 16th and after countless hours communicating via whatsapp, email, phone, and even twitter I still have not received my deposit back. I have sent them every single piece of information and document that they have asked for (as a way to stall, no doubt), multiple times now and have received absolutely no refund and the only type of response I’ve received is either a “we need xyz document/info [AGAIN]” or “we’ve received your message and will respond accordingly” and then get absolutely no response. They clearly have no intention of returning MY deposit back to me. Avoid them at all cost, especially if they require you pay a deposit in order to open your account.

JOSE PLANELL @ MoviStar
The moment I entered the store in Altea, I received a warm welcome and smiles. As I am not fluent in Spanish I need the assistance of an English speaking, member on the staff. I was directed to JOSE MARIA PLANELL. From there the experience only got better. Incredibly knowledgeable, professional, friendly, happy, attentive and willing to help despite the languages. One of the best cuntomer services I have received ever
Movistar ruse
A word of warning if you use Movistar in Spain.
If you're offered a "free" gift, be aware this is a ruse.
If you were to cancel the contract before what they consider an end date, you'll then be billed monthly for the remaining months. You're actually signed for a rental (leasing) contract. Caveat emptor.
Upgraded router not working properly can´t get help
REF incidencia CP26043UEG354V and ref PAQRG0032D906
I recently upgraded both my internet and mobile SIM services. Twelve days ago, an engineer visited to install a new router as part of the upgrade. Since the installation, the router has not been functioning properly. It is unable to add multiple devices, indicating that the issue is not related to the devices themselves. I have tried troubleshooting the problem by uninstalling related apps, turning the router off and on, and even resetting it; however, none of these actions have resolved the issue.
I have lodged complaints almost every day and have been assured repeatedly that an engineer would contact me and resolve the problem. Despite these promises, no engineer has visited, and I have not received any further communication regarding my complaint.
Prepare to meet the beloved loader icon many times!
The bad:
Internet is pretty inconsistent - prepare to meet the beloved loader icon many times.
The good:
It sometimes works well.
Verdict:
These are problems from the 90s... we shouldn't face them in 2026. Worth exploring other options
The worst service you can imagine
Since one months behind them to install the antenna to my old father in Ronda. I have called them soo many times. Everyone passes me to another colleague and no one knows. It is very sad to see this incompetence and lack of customer service. It is a real pity.
