Poor customer service and lack of consideration for customers with mobility issues
The lift was out of order, but there were no warning notices at the stairs or the out-of-order escalator. As a result, customers—including myself—went downstairs expecting to use the lift to return upstairs, only to discover once we got there that it was not working and that we had to walk all the way back up.
When I pointed out that a notice should also have been placed at the stairs and escalator to prevent this from happening, the person at the cash desk responded with disdain and, in a surly tone, repeatedly insisted that notices had been placed on the lift. This completely missed the point: like me, other customers had already gone downstairs via the stairs or escalator without knowing that the lift was out of order.
The cashier then huffed and repeated that the notices were on the lift and that the staff were affected too. When I demanded, quite amazed and angry to speak to the manager, they appeared equally uninterested and eventually walked away.
Overall, the experience showed a serious lack of customer service and consideration for customers with mobility difficulties.
The staff at the Woluwe store would benefit from better customer service training and a greater understanding of accessibility and the needs of all customers.
