Following its successful delivery, the SCOT80 (Long Range) has been integrated into the GPS #Satellite “Hedi Lamarr” and successfully tested. Since April 20, 2026, the #Satellite has been in orbit at an altitude of around 20,000 km above Earth – taking TESAT #OpticalCommunication technology another step into the operational #Space environment. The image below shows our SCOT80 mounted on the #Satellite in its launch position – ready for its journey into orbit. 🌍✨ For #TeamTESAT, milestones like this are a great reminder of what it takes to turn advanced technology into reliable solutions for real missions: engineering excellence, close collaboration and technology proven for space. We are proud to see Dr. Frank Heine, Chief Developer for Laser Systems at TESAT, recognized among The Photonics 100 – The Industry’s Most Innovative People by Electro Optics. For more than three decades, Frank has been shaping the development of #OpticalCommunication at TESAT. Since joining the company in 1995, he has been involved in advancing space-based laser technologies — from the development of the TAU Laser Communication Terminal to today’s next generation of #OpticalCommunication systems. With more than 140 publications and around 2,500 citations, Frank’s work covers key areas including free-space #OpticalCommunications, adaptive optics, atmospheric turbulence, heterodyne and homodyne detection, and advanced modulation and detection techniques. Today, his expertise continues to help drive TESAT’s ambition to be a key enabler of #OpticalCommunication, across Airborne, LEO, MEO and GEO applications. Justin Luczyk menyukai kandungan iniJustin Luczyk menyukai kandungan iniEarlier this year, I was honored to be promoted to the rank of Colonel in the United States Marine Corps Reserve by Col James Brennan at my local Marine Corps League. I was surrounded by friends, family, and fellow Marines, and pinned by my 11-year-old twins, Lia and Gunnar. If you had asked me 24 years ago if I would make it this far, it would have been a hard no. After leaving active duty in 2008, I missed the Marine Corps. I said I would continue in the reserves until they didn't want me or I didn't want them. Needless to say, it has continued to be such a rewarding experience that I keep going. I am immensely grateful to the Marines and Sailors I've served with, past and present; my in-laws and my mom, who make it possible to continue to serve; my kids, who have only known me gone for days and weeks at a time; and my late husband, LtCol Justin M. Recent reporting highlights how fiber-optic controlled drones are exposing critical gaps in C-UAS defenses, operating without RF emissions and evading traditional EW-based detection. Silentium Defence passive radar systems address this directly, detecting and tracking non-emitting 'dark' drones by leveraging existing signals in the environment to deliver a persistent primary radar feed without emitting ourselves. As the threat evolves, passive sensors like our MAVERICK passive radars are essential to closing the detection gap. Fortem Technologies just received another huge validation: Fortem's DroneHunter F700 is Replicator 2's first purchase! Replicator 2 is the Military's vehicle to combat smaller-drone threats. The F700 is AI-enabled to detect and capture smaller drones using its proprietary net system that tows them to a safe location. This is ideal for domestic use where risk to civilians and infrastructure must be minimized. Fortem continues to innovate advanced sensors, drones, and software in the counter-UAS (drone) sector every day to keep people safe. Great things are happening here!

The CSA's Space Technology Development Program (STDP) aims to strengthen industrial capabilities (new concepts, products and/or know-how) related to basic R&D of space technologies (space application segment). The following activities are not eligible as they are or will be supported through other funding opportunities: Applications related to developing earth observation data processing solutions, eligible through CSA's smartEarth initiative. Development of space-related medical technologies. Development of prospecting and In Situ Resource Utilization (ISRU) related technologies. Development of space-related food production technologies. Development of space-related life support systems. Technologies already funded by CSA through another contract, contribution, or grant. Projects aiming at Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) higher than TRL-6 are not eligible.
