I wanted to take a couple of weeks to get a deeper understanding of the company, the people and our offering. Having just returned from a great company offsite, now feels like a good time to share this more broadly with my network. Having spent many years in Identity Security, I'm familiar with helping customers harness AI and agents while maintaining human oversight and minimising unnecessary risk. It's interesting now to move upstream to where code is created and applications are developed, and I am excited about how Semgrep is changing the AppSec space. AI has changed how code is created, how applications are built and how bad actors seek and exploit vulnerabilities. Semgrep is already bringing security directly into the AI development workflow, scanning code in real time as it's written by coding agents, while providing context to identify and remediate vulnerabilities that matter. This means customers can move quickly with confidence, stay in control, and fix issues much earlier in the development lifecycle - reducing cost and ongoing risk. The offsite gave me a great feel for the culture of Semgrep, lots of very smart and passionate people, moving at pace, who are genuinely excited about the mission. I am delighted to be part of it and especially to be joining an amazing EMEA team. Thanks to Garrett Souza, Isaac Evans, Luke O'Malley, Daghan Altas and Jim Wangler for the guidance to date, and for the opportunity to be part of the team. Looking forward to connecting and re-connecting with people in the security world from this new position.

It was hearing about the work everyone is doing, comparing experiences, and getting to know the people behind the names and job titles. We have a wealth of experience and perspective in Richmond’s #identity community, and it was a pleasure to bring some of it together around a table. This is exactly what I hoped IdentiBeerRVA would be: a welcoming place to talk about our work, learn from one another, and build genuine friendships with local peers.
