Paul van der Lee posted thisI am excited to share that I have started a new role with Semgrep. I wanted to take a couple of weeks to get a deeper understanding of the company, the people and our offering. Having just returned from a great company offsite, now feels like a good time to share this more broadly with my network. Having spent many years in Identity Security, I'm familiar with helping customers harness AI and agents while maintaining human oversight and minimising unnecessary risk. It's interesting now to move upstream to where code is created and applications are developed, and I am excited about how Semgrep is changing the AppSec space. AI has changed how code is created, how applications are built and how bad actors seek and exploit vulnerabilities. Semgrep is already bringing security directly into the AI development workflow, scanning code in real time as it's written by coding agents, while providing context to identify and remediate vulnerabilities that matter. This means customers can move quickly with confidence, stay in control, and fix issues much earlier in the development lifecycle - reducing cost and ongoing risk. The offsite gave me a great feel for the culture of Semgrep, lots of very smart and passionate people, moving at pace, who are genuinely excited about the mission. I am delighted to be part of it and especially to be joining an amazing EMEA team. Thanks to Garrett Souza, Isaac Evans, Luke O'Malley, Daghan Altas and Jim Wangler for the guidance to date, and for the opportunity to be part of the team. Looking forward to connecting and re-connecting with people in the security world from this new position.

Paul van der Lee posted thisAfter 2.5 great years, I have made the difficult decision to leave SailPoint and take on a new challenge. SailPoint ticks all the boxes of what is important in this role. Great technology, addressing a real customer need, a strong culture and, most importantly, good people. I've really enjoyed my time here. I’ve had the pleasure of working with many talented colleagues - reuniting with some old friends and making many new ones. I’ve also really valued the relationships built with customers and partners during my time here. Working together in challenging moments to find outcomes that work for everyone has been highly rewarding. I’ve been fortunate to build and lead a fantastic team who delivered strong growth each year by helping some of Europe’s largest organisations address important identity security challenges. I'd like to thank everyone on my team again for their support and for what we achieved together. I specifically want to thank Calum Roberts and Stephen Bradford for the opportunity, and for their support, guidance and pragmatic leadership. I wish them and the entire EMEA team every success in the future. With the changes happening through AI, machine identities and security more broadly, it’s a fascinating time for the industry and I have no doubt that SailPoint will continue to lead the way. Onwards and upwards!

Paul van der Lee shared thisAs Steve comments here, AI-driven scams and internal vulnerabilities are creating a perfect storm and it is vital that companies manage both Internal and External threats. By ensuring employees, contractors, and partners have appropriate access organisations can prevent insider threats and unauthorised access during high-pressure periods. Events like Black Friday remind us that strong identity security isn’t just about protecting customers; it’s about safeguarding internal systems and the IT Supply chain as well. #CyberSecurity #IdentityGovernance #AccessManagement #InternalSecurity #IdentitySecurity #BlackFriday2024 #CyberThreats #DataProtection #RetailSecurity #AIThreats #ZeroTrust #RiskManagement #CyberResilience #DigitalSecurityCombatting Cyber Scrooges this Black Friday – Making Cyber Vulnerabilities a Thing of Christmas Past - IT Supply ChainCombatting Cyber Scrooges this Black Friday – Making Cyber Vulnerabilities a Thing of Christmas Past - IT Supply Chain

Paul van der Lee shared thisI’ve been reflecting on the importance of clear and transparent collaboration between buyers and sellers, and why it is particularly important for many at this time of year. It’s not just about closing deals, it’s about building trust, aligning goals, and achieving outcomes for both sides. In writing it, I was thinking about: * How buyer behaviour has shifted, with 70% of the journey often completed before engaging vendors. * The value of a collaborative framework - Clear Solution, Clear Value, Clear Plan (thanks to my old CRO for that one!) * What happens when communication is open, and what can go wrong when it doesn’t. I'd love to hear the thoughts of others on here, buyers and sellers alike. Do people feel there has been a shift and, if so, why? How should we continue to work together to focus on mutual transparency so that everyone benefits. The outcomes in a positive situation are clear - faster results, predictable business outcomes, tailored solutions, better ROI and of course - stronger long-term partnerships. And - the chance to relax and enjoy the mince pies during Christmas before coming back in January to kick-off some successful projects! Why Collaboration Between Buyers and Sellers Is Key to Year-End SuccessWhy Collaboration Between Buyers and Sellers Is Key to Year-End SuccessPaul van der Lee

Paul van der Lee shared thisAI is reshaping cybersecurity, and as this Forbes article highlights, businesses need to balance innovation with compliance in the face of emerging regulations. At SailPoint, we’re at the forefront of this challenge. Our AI-powered tools, like the SailPoint Identity Graph, enable organizations to deliver real-time Identity Governance and Administration (IGA), a critical capability in today’s regulatory landscape. This means: * Real-time insights - to detect and address identity-related risks before they escalate. * Smarter access governance - that not only reduces risk but also creates audit-ready processes for compliance. * Unified data and AI-driven decisions - that deliver transparency and fairness - core principles of emerging regulations. The Forbes article underscores how regulatory frameworks are demanding ethical, explainable AI and a proactive approach to compliance. With SailPoint’s solutions, businesses can navigate this evolving landscape while unlocking the full potential of AI for identity security. As has been the case for as long as I can remember in Identity and Security - the challenge is for organisations to manage the balance between innovation and compliance. It's like Newcastle United trying to balance bold, attacking creativity with a rock, solid defence... takes time - but we will get there!!!!! #CyberSecurity #AI #IdentitySecurity #SailPointCouncil Post: AI In Cybersecurity: Understanding The New Regulatory Framework And What It Means For BusinessesCouncil Post: AI In Cybersecurity: Understanding The New Regulatory Framework And What It Means For Businesses

Paul van der Lee shared thisWhen I talked about SailPoint Navigate, I referenced the new features we’re introducing are redefining the identity security space—and the SailPoint Identity Graph is the perfect example. Part of our Atlas platform, it brings real-time insights and unified identity data to life. As an avid Newcastle fan and in the spirit of true linkedin posts these days I'd like to draw an analogy.... If identity security were Newcastle United, this would be like signing Bruno Guimarães - a transformative addition, Intelligent, game-changing, and designed to perform under pressure - because in both football and identity security, it’s all about having the right team to take on the biggest challenges. #IdentityGovernance #SailPoint #UnifiedIdentity #AI #ToonArmySailPoint Enhances Identity Security with the Power of Unified Identity Data and AI i4.0 Today MagazineSailPoint Enhances Identity Security with the Power of Unified Identity Data and AI i4.0 Today Magazine

Paul van der Lee shared thisWhen I joined SailPoint in March, I was drawn to the company’s relentless focus on identity security and its clear leadership in the IGA space. This week’s Navigate event reinforced all the reasons why SailPoint is not just participating in the identity security conversation but defining the space entirely. It was great to hear from Matt Mills, Mark McClain but also a large number of valued customers and partners on how these new features are shaping the industry. The new innovations unveiled—like the SailPoint Identity Graph, Automated Application Onboarding, and Dynamic Access Roles—aren’t just incremental updates; they are solutions that unlock entirely new use cases for our customers. The focus with these new capabilities is to allow businesses to: * Deliver IGA in real-time - enabling immediate, actionable insights into identity interactions. * Simplify complexity - turning intricate data relationships into intuitive, visualized insights. * Achieve faster time-to-value - making identity security solutions operationally impactful from day one. These features showcase exactly why SailPoint is the clear leader in IGA. Having been a round a while in the Identity space, you hear lots of new features and releases. But, sometimes the light that goes on and you get excited as a sales person on the conversations that you will be able to have have with customers. Navigate certainly held a few of those moments. By redefining what’s possible with identity security, we’re helping organizations tackle challenges they couldn’t solve before, empowering them to reduce risk, improve efficiency, and scale with confidence. To everyone I connected with at Navigate—thank you for making my first event such an incredible experience. It’s clear we’re shaping the future of identity security together! 🚀 I'd go as far as to say that Navigate is now the best IAM conference in the Universe!!!! 😉 #Navigate2024 #IdentitySecurity #SailPoint

Paul van der Lee liked thisPaul van der Lee liked thisI’m incredibly excited to announce that I’ve joined Ory as Chief Revenue Officer! We are at a massive inflection point in the market. Every enterprise is working to modernize identity, and with the rapid rise of autonomous AI agents, organizations are now racing to secure a completely new category of identity risk before it becomes their next vulnerability. Ory already has the trust, the open-source community, and the technical foundation to win this space. I couldn't pass up the opportunity to join Jeff Kukowski and the team—and to partner alongside Colleen Shannon as our new CFO—to build a go-to-market engine that delivers industry-leading time to value for our customers and partners. I also wanted to express my deepest gratitude to my Ping Identity family. The last 7.5 years have been an absolute highlight of my career. To all the incredible people I’ve had the privilege of working with day in and day out: thank you. I am incredibly proud of what we accomplished together and most importantly, the relationships that will last forever. Sales Tip #191 Is Hard Copy Cold Outreach the New Black? ✉️ "You may have seen the recent letter from the UK Government to FTSE 350 boards that highlights the rise in hostile cyber activity and stresses the need for... strong supply chain controls and proactive resilience." "[Company] provides real detection and fast response" This company decided to send this message via a physical letter as part of their cold outreach. Am I to expect their SOC alerts to come through the same channel? Or perhaps they'll escalate via carrier pigeon? 🐦⬛ At the bottom of the letter, they've stuck on a QR code with "Book A Meeting" written next to it I am almost lost for words (I said almost, I'm never actually lost for words.) This security company expects a CISO to book a meeting by scanning a QR code. A QR code which isn't event printed on the letter - it's a sticker. Do they know what a MitM attack is? Or quishing? Or is this rage-bait marketing? A new form of phishing LARP? The letter signs off with: ✉️ "Even if we never work together, you will get something useful from the conversation" That is very bold statement, and one I doubt very much. --- In response to my initial question: no, hard copy cold outreach is not the new black. A physical letter does not add credibility. It does not make your message more "serious" It's a waste of paper, postage... and everyone's time. And please - for the love of god - will security suppliers STOP SENDING MATERIAL THAT RESEMBLES PHISHING. You are undermining your position and infuriating prospects. #SalesTip #SpamScamOrSales #LifeAsACISO #Phishing #SnailMail 📎

The biggest global organisations and off‑grid teams like the US military trust Tanium to see and control every endpoint. It matters just as much for the UK public sector because: - Patient safety and service continuity depend on real time visibility and rapid patching - Mixed estates need one way to discover, prioritise and remediate across Windows, macOS and Linux - Existing Microsoft and ServiceNow investments work better with accurate CMDB data and automated workflows - Consolidating overlapping tools reduces cost and complexity If you’re in an NHS trust, council or agency and want practical examples, I’m happy to share notes and compare approaches.

Hot take from the field: Why I would pick Gong for SailPoint over Chorus or Outreach Speaking purely from a sales rep POV in UK Enterprise. I don’t use Outreach in my current role, but I do use Chorus day-to-day and having worked with both, I still think Gong is the stronger platform for an enterprise motion like SailPoint’s. Here’s why: 1. Its helped me win deals, not just review calls Chorus is solid for recordings and playback. Gong goes further. It shows patterns across deals, flags risks early, and highlights what top performers are doing differently. In long, complex identity/security sales cycles, that kind of insight matters, well it would to me. 2. Better visibility into deal health with enterprise deals, you can’t afford surprises. Gong makes it easier to see if I am single-threaded, if a competitor is creeping in, or if momentum is slowing. It gives real signals from customer conversations, not just gut feel. 3. More actionable coaching both platforms support coaching, but Gong makes it easier to learn from the best calls across the org. Being able to quickly find how top reps position SailPoint or handle security objections, or navigate C-level conversations would be huge in my eyes. 4. Enterprise-ready insights UK enterprise cycles are long and multi-stakeholder. Gong connects conversations across the account so you can see the full picture, not just individual calls. That context helps tighten strategy and messaging. 5. Rep efficiencyAuto notes, summaries, and follow-ups save time and keep me focused on selling. Less admin, better prep, stronger calls. Bottom line: Chorus is a good tool and I use it today. Outreach has its place for sequencing in other environments. But if I’m choosing a platform to help me run tighter enterprise deals and improve win rates, I’d still pick Gong. Curious how other enterprise reps see it at SailPoint and maybe other similar clients to SailPoint, especially those who’ve used both Gong and Chorus. What’s making the biggest difference for you? In my comments box I have story where I used Gong at another org in my role. Check it out! 😄

In this interview with Sky News, Gavin Millard, VP of Product at Tenable, discusses the recent ransomware attack on Jaguar Land Rover and how companies should be protecting themselves, saying "Attackers don't have a million different ways to break in, they have a small handful of these exposures that they're going to target. So identify those things first and fix what matters..." Watch the full interview here: https://lnkd.in/g3ipA-TE #exposuremanagement #cybersecurity
