Live from your brand: streaming video and the new consumer connection
Marketing Land
See publicationTiny screens are poised to rule the world. And if content marketing on these tiny devices is king, video content is the crown jewel. Video is no longer “on the rise.” It’s literally taking over. According to a very recent trend report, internet video will make up 80 percent of all consumer traffic in 2019. That’s a lot of traffic. Tiny screens are poised to rule the world. And if content marketing on these tiny devices is king, video content is the crown jewel. Video is no longer “on the rise.” It’s literally taking over. According to a very recent trend report, internet video will make up 80 percent of all consumer traffic in 2019. That’s a lot of traffic. According to that same study, it’s not going to all be happening on wired devices (those good old desktops). In 2014, wired devices made up the majority of IP traffic at 54 percent; but by 2019, they will account for only 33 percent of IP traffic. Therefore, brands must be keenly aware not only of online video as a marketing tool, but where it is being watched — on mobile. In response to the increased time consumers are spending on video consumption, especially on mobile devices, every major social media channel has made big announcements addressing this change in consumer behavior by providing new options for video that are literally at our fingertips.

Marketing Land
See publicationThe battle to earn consumers’ attention is on. But it’s not going to be won in a display ad or in the search box. It’s not going to be won on television or via in-store signage. Think Social’s NSFW? Not Any More: How Employee Engagement Really Works
Marketing Land
See publicationStill think social media isn’t suitable for the workplace? In an increasingly social world, I am so surprised at the number of brand marketers I speak to that still haven’t figured out how to leverage their biggest assets — their employees — to be brand champions. Though many companies would prefer to minimize employees’ time or activity on social media, if done correctly, employee engagement programs don’t have to be time-wasters or threats to the company.

Smashing Old Silos: The Necessary Integration Of Search, Social And Content
Marketing Land
See publicationIs today’s agency model broken? This is the endless debate. Every few years, the marketing pendulum swings between the need for integrated agencies and specialists in one area of expertise. Is today’s agency model broken? This is the endless debate. Every few years, the marketing pendulum swings between the need for integrated agencies and specialists in one area of expertise. This shift has historically been driven by brands, procurement divisions and agencies themselves. Let’s be real. Consumers DO NOT CARE about your procurement processes and your marketing silos. They’re no longer just listening to radio or watching TV. They’re streaming messages from the internet, shouting requests at Siri to find the closest bagel shop and jumping into their cars and expecting to hear the song they were just listening to start up as Waze guides them to what they’re looking for. Consumers are connected everywhere and are empowered to ignore brands that don’t speak directly to them with the content they want when they want it. Nothing is linear anymore. If we as marketers all agree, why aren’t we doing anything differently?
