Companies are working with more contractors, but the reason is not always what people assume.

Last night at the Natural History Museum in London, the Remote legal team took home the FT Innovative Lawyers Europe 2026 award for New Skills 🏆 Four nominations. One win. Two Highly Commended. What got recognised: 🥇 New Skills – Winner Part of our team, myself included, writes code for Remote's product. When employment rules change, we build the update ourselves and engineers review it before release. 30+ changes shipped so far. 🥈 New Products & Services – Highly Commended Compliance Watchtower: a regulatory product built by legal that alerts customers to employment law and tax changes across 100+ countries, with recommended next steps. 🥈 Self-Service Tools – Highly Commended We get 1,000+ legal queries a month. We built a system that routes them to specialist AI agents, and when a human is needed, assigns the task to the right lawyer based on expertise and availability. The common thread: legal isn't a gate at the end of the process. It's part of how the product gets built. Huge thanks to this team, and to everyone who trusted a bunch of lawyers with a code repository. 💜 Thanks Sam Ross and Chris Davies for trusting us. #FTInnovativeLawyers #LegalOps #LegalInnovation #Remote

AI literacy has become an essential skill. Being technical with AI, like any tool, is nice to have, but not practical. Teams need to know how to utilize AI in the context of their actual, day-to-day work… beyond all the AI jargon. In our recent survey of over 3,000 business and HR leaders, 90% of organizations plan to build more internal tools and automation using AI. That ambition can’t be realized through hype alone. It happens when people can start with a real task. ask better questions, verify the output, and share what they’ve learned with peers and leaders. A simple place to start: - Pick one task your team already understands - Write down what good output looks like - Ask AI for a first pass - Review it like you would any other draft - Share what worked and what did not Try one useful task with Remote’s free AI for Actual Work course

🧠 HumanX Amsterdam 2026 is wrapping up. Here's the takeaway coming home with us. Our co-founder and CEO Job van der Voort told The Register's Matt Rosoff the thinking behind Remote's AI push: the goal isn't AI for its own sake, it's freeing people from bureaucratic work so they can focus on the actual problems they're solving. Entire categories of this type of work are already disappearing inside Remote. And the proof is in the numbers. Engineering productivity is up roughly 500% since we made AI adoption, and an internal AI course, mandatory for every employee. The bureaucracy goes away. The actual work gets the attention. #HumanX

Research used to mean opening 37 tabs and slowly forgetting why tab 12 felt important 🤔 Now, AI can help organize that process: summarize sources, compare themes, identify gaps, and shape a recommendation. Remote’s free AI for Actual Work course includes practical ways to use AI with real work, including research.

Hiring internationally opens the door to high-skilled talent, more markets for growth, and more opportunities to build brand awareness abroad. But a common misconception is the offer letter is the finish line. The actual finish line happens later, as in months later. There’s onboarding, payroll inputs, benefits, local context, manager support, and a clear experience for the person joining. Our research found that 79% of leaders would increase international hiring if it were easier to do.

For anyone who doesn’t consider themselves a developer: Remote CLI gives teams a text-based way to automate repeatable tasks Run commands directly in your system terminal, or tell a compatible AI agent what you want and let it run the CLI commands for you. Three useful starting points: 1. Check pending time-off or expense requests 2. Pull an employment list 3. Check webhook delivery activity

A fifteen-person company in the Netherlands just hired the heads of sales from two of its competitors. Two years ago Snitcher was four people in a basement, tracking holidays in a Notion table anyone could edit. Then they hit their first million in revenue and worked out that staying inside the Netherlands would cap how fast they could grow. So they stopped looking only there: A staff engineer in Brazil. Sales in Serbia. Customer success in the Philippines. Business leadership in the UK. All hired through Remote without setting up a company in any of those places. None of them had to move. "We would not have been able to grow as fast as we did without hiring through Remote. All of these hires have been integral in us almost tripling in a year... the ROI of that is infinite." - Stefan Manojlović , Head of Marketing at Snitcher Congratulations to Stefan and the team for growing across borders, and to the people here who make that possible.
