Training at the HZDR - What's in our favor?
The HZDR develops and operates modern research facilities at the highest level. To ensure that we continue to be amongst the best, the promotion of young talent is very important to us. This is why we consider vocational training to be one of our most important tasks.

Choosing vocational training at the HZDR means choosing a company with ...
- many years of experience in vocational training,
- highly qualified trainers,

We pay you a training salary in accordance with TVAöD-Bund. You will receive over € 1,200 gross per month in your first year of vocational training. Dual students with integrated practical training receive a fixed monthly salary of €1,550 gross.
Our package includes special annual payments, a company pension plan, savings benefits, a learning materials allowance and graduation bonuses (only for trainees), as well as travel subsidies for vocational schools away from home and the reimbursement of one family trip home per month for trainees and students.
With us, you will receive employee discounts from well-known companies via the Corporate Benefits platform as well as an employer subsidy for the Deutschland-Ticket job ticket.
In combination with a 39-hour week and 30 days of annual leave plus 2 days off (December 24 & 31), you can easily balance your private life and your vocational training.
Thanks to the intensive preparation of our trainees for their final examinations, the HZDR has already produced 40 top-performing trainees, 31 top-performing young skilled workers in Saxony and 5 top-performing trainees in Germany.
During your apprenticeship, you will have many contacts who will be on hand to help and advise you. These include the training managers, trainers and JAV as well as a strong trainee network.
We support your sporting activities. The offer ranges from jogging and beach volleyball to various health courses as part of the company health management program. For our cyclists, we offer bicycle parking spaces and the use of showers on the company premises.
We offer you differentiated further education opportunities in the form of seminars or additional qualifications during your training in order to extensively prepare you for your future working life.
In our canteen, you can choose from a varied menu of freshly prepared dishes, a bowl station, snacks and drinks every day. Vegan and vegetarian dishes are also available.
Thanks to regular internships in Germany and abroad, trainee and student meetings and an annual trainee excursion, our trainees are able to build up a network not only among themselves but also worldwide.
Our campus is located on the outskirts of the Saxon city of Dresden, which offers a huge variety of cultural, sporting and outdoor activities for a wide range of leisure activities.
