👋🏽 Jamie Hill reacted on this👋🏽 Jamie Hill reacted on thisDear all, Alongside my day job, I’ve spent the last few years writing and recording a second studio album of songs, “A Drinker’s Dream”, which was released last week. The record was made with a wonderful group of old friends – master musicians – including The Webb Sisters (Leonard Cohen’s former backing singers), who also co-wrote the lead single “River” with me. Jon Thorne (Lamb) played double bass, Brad Webb (Amy Winehouse) on drums. Piano & string arrangements are by Danny Keane, and mastering was done by Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studios. Engineered by Scott Greiner. At its core, i think the album is a reflection on fatherhood, letting go of old ways, and making time to follow one’s “creative thread”. The songs also imagine a future world I will never know, while hoping to leave behind for my son some of the emotional tools he’ll need to navigate it on his own. The title itself, “A Drinker’s Dream”, is a coded reference to Hermann Hesse’s wonderful novella “Klingsor’s Last Summer” (which I’ve read many times over) and the 8th-century Chinese poet Li Po. Known as the “drunken immortal,” Li Po represents the wild, solitary, and poetic spark – something inherently, deeply human. Making this record reminded me that making time for playing, dreaming, creating and just hanging out with amazing musicians, can help make for a fuller, happier life – that’s been my experience, anyway. I’m grateful to YouTube who allowed me to take unpaid sabbatical leave to get this project started. If you enjoy songwriting, storytelling etc I invite you to take a listen. 👋🏽 Jamie Hill liked this👋🏽 Jamie Hill liked thisFabulous to get this update from Niyan’s mum - Niyan is one of many patients who has been making good use of the CFC and Club Peloton Infusion trike that we provided to Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust; “Thank you so much for giving Niyan the opportunity to ride the infusion bike whilst he was admitted to the ward, he absolutely loved it and gave him so much freedom whilst having chemo and fluids. He zoomed off on it but actually is pretty good at steering and 3 point turns on it! I genuinely think it gave him so much positive energy during a difficult time and also helped him be physically active and build his metabolism whilst trying to flush the chemotherapy drug out of his system”. 💙💙💙 TechniCare

👋🏽 Jamie Hill reacted on this👋🏽 Jamie Hill reacted on thisSix months ago, I lost my beautiful wife, Lisa 💔 , leaving behind our three children – Indie, Gracie, and Rudy. As a family, we’ve faced the toughest challenge of our lives, yet together we’ve grown stronger. Indie has just started Year 11, Gracie celebrates her 14th birthday this Sunday, and Rudy, our youngest, has gone back to school in Year 4. Watching them support each other, step up, and show resilience beyond their years has been both humbling and inspiring. We spent much of the summer at our holiday home in Dorset – lovingly named Casa Lisa – where we created new memories while cherishing old ones. Last Sunday would have marked 30 years since Lisa and I first met. While the void of losing her will never be filled, the strength I’ve found in my family, friends, colleagues, and wider network has helped me to begin adjusting to this new reality. I want to take a moment to thank everyone who has been there for me – from my LinkedIn connections to colleagues across our group, including Duncan & Toplis, Castlegate Financial Management, Datcom, Beavis Morgan LLP, BM Connect Limited, Kinbrook Group and beyond. Your kindness, patience, and support have meant more than words can express. Life has changed in ways I never imagined, but one thing I’ve learned is that even in the hardest times, the love and strength of those around you can help you carry on. 💗

I started using Lovable to explore the construction of a product on sustainable engagement, a new project that I am preparing to start very soon. It was a bit like in the ad, if you can write a PRD, you can create a prototype, and If you can create a prototype you can build an App. Not joining the Navy yet though…. My 2-week retro: - It is possible to build a simple(ish) app without knowing how to code, but all the discussions I had about APIs, backend and front end logic have been so useful to problem solving - Building a real product is the only way to learn. It is amazing how lovable can create a concept with a single prompt, but that is so far from having a finished product - I always loved to work with devs and designers, I miss them a lot, every hour of the day. Lovable is impressive, but (still) not as good as real people - I am learning a lot and really enjoying it (most of the time). I’m confident that I will have a great product out in a few weeks, ready to get feedback from real users I will soon let you know about the project and I will keep you updated about my relationship with Lovable - we have our ups and downs…

👋🏽 Jamie Hill liked this👋🏽 Jamie Hill liked this“Much of the contribution from designers and other creatives can’t be easily measured in numbers.” 💡 A powerful perspective shared by Jony Ive during his inspiring talk at StripeHQ. ❤️ He spoke about the designer’s role in making the end user feel that someone genuinely cared about them during the creation of a product or experience — especially in moments where the value is delivered subtly or vicariously. This really resonated with me. In the rush to optimise for metrics like conversion or speed, it’s easy to over-index on the scientific side of UX and lose some of the warmth, intuition, and soul that make experiences truly meaningful and memorable. A timely reminder that great design isn’t just what works — it’s also what feels right. #uxdesign #jonyive #productdesign #product #experience #inspiring #innovation #measurement #data #tech #ux

Putting together my salary guide for 2026 was a bit messy. I’m seeing a huge gap opening up for Senior Product Designers. In the London tech scene, salaries used to sit in a fairly narrow window - £60k to £80k mark for seniors a few years ago. But that’s changed. That gap has widened massively, and I’m now seeing senior roles ranging anywhere from £70k to £140k+. Not to sound like my three-year-old, but... Why? It really comes down to the rise of the Super IC. I'm seeing this happen for two main reasons. First, it used to be that the only way to move up and get a pay rise was to move into management. We’re now seeing design leaders move back into IC roles to get closer to the craft, and companies are building a proper path for IC’s - rewarding deep expertise with the same pay as leadership. Secondly, there are the seniors who work across the lines of design, product, and engineering. They’ve broken beyond the "designer" label and are essentially builders. The title "Senior Product Designer" has just become a very broad bucket. It’s no longer a specific pay grade and as a result, salaries are equally broad. Pulling together salary data is only going to get harder as these traditional seniorities start to disappear altogether. I'll share some thoughts on that tomorrow. ✌🏾
