Prices go up several times a year, rude management and not great bread.
The staff I've come across have been mostly subdued and not very customer focused. The manageress in our village Cavans is really abrupt if you actually get to speak to her - I say that because when I've been in the shop she's always on her personal phone deep in conversation it would appear speaking to overseas friends and relatives. Who wants to hear someone - especially a shop manager - speaking loudly in a foreign language walking around the shop ignoring customers while her staff are busy serving?
The bread that I bought there was stupidly hard and the prices just keep on going up and up. I think they feel people will always pay the price - but they won't.
Looking online they had a legal row with Richmond council apparently due to planning issues over an oven. Why can't companies just stay small friendly and affordable?
So an average sandwich loaf is now nearly £5, a sandwich is virtually £10 and when Halloween, Easter & Christmas come along out goes the pavement board with little coloured drawings and up goes the price - hot cross buns are expensive anywhere these days but Cavans take it to a different level. I really hope we get a Gails in our village. I can't stand rudeness and being taken for a ride.
