Wrong waiting fees, incompetence, unfriendliness
I pre-booked a cab to the airport for 6:20 a.m.; we departed at 6:24 a.m. *after loading the luggage*. The driver said he had to charge me a EUR 4 waiting fee, i.e. EUR 1 per minute. He said this was required by the dispatch centre and that he had no choice.
Later I called customer service. The woman I spoke to said that a driver *may, at his own discretion,* charge EUR 0.58 per minute of waiting time. Nevertheless, she said the driver's conduct was not a problem, since he had overcharged me only by 8 cents in total. I replied this calculation was incorrect, and she raised her voice. After repeatedly asking her to check the sum, she used a calculator and found that I was right.
I asked to speak to a supervisor, but was told that none was available and that someone would get back to me in the next few days.
UPDATE: As the reply by 40100 says, I have now received a partial refund, and I appreciate the gesture. However, this does not resolve the underlying issue.
(1) The driver cited internal rules which, if accurately reported, would be inconsistent with the applicable taxi fare rules.
(2) The customer service representative was unable to perform a simple calculation: she claimed that EUR 4 minus 4 × EUR 0.58 amounted to an overcharge of only 8 cents. When I pointed out that this was incorrect, she raised her voice.
(3) The supervisor I asked to speak to never got back to me.
Most importantly, 40100 should make sure internally that incorrect waiting fees are not charged in the future. If waiting time is charged, it should be charged only at the applicable rate -- EUR 0.58 per minute for regular taxi rides. And if waiting fees are to be charged for fixed-price airport transfers, this must be clearly stated in the terms and conditions before booking. As far as I can see, such fees are currently not mentioned.
