I needed a face to face appointment and they conveniently facilitated this 10mins walk from my house.

I opted for TaxAssist as it's local office is 5 minutes walk from my home in Ayr.
Taking advantage of their opening free of charge consultation i met with a tax advisor, then followed up with communication of my tax aspects for 2025/26, along with written confirmation that I was happy to proceed with them. Email table tennis followed with generic detail. I had sent my first unanswered email over 1 month ago and then a follow up around 2 weeks ago, again unanswered.
So I decided to visit the office. Upon arrival I asked if their member of staff was on site. He had just left and I was asked if they could help. Details were explained, their reaction suggested my frustration wasn't a new complaint.
For a supposedly professional business, my experience has been poor. Prior to leaving and passing on my mobile number, they were told that I would presume my business wasn't wanted if a call wasn't received within 24 hours. A call never came.

Professional and very helpful. Made the tax process much easier.

I felt Martin took a lot of trouble during his visit to read through the papers I had and to understand my problems with HMRC.
Could be better: I didn't have very much - actually very little - in the way of handouts / written information to back up Martin's visit. However, there has been a lot of correspondence from Julie since then and I'm feeling more secure.
It seems to be costing more than Martin estimated it would.

Helpful and managed to navigate complicated Capital Gains process for the first time including the online HMRC government gate way system. As someone with no IT skills, Tax Assist in Loughborough were very helpful. Thanks Marie.

What can I say............ I got myself in a huge pickle recently through historic Ebay sales where tax returns were not submitted. I contacted Saher Rizvi at the Broxbourne office and she diligently worked through 4 years worth of non tax returns, fines, penalties, bank statements. The outcome I hear you ask - we turned 6 moths of HMRC harassment with letters and phone calls, a £48,000 liability attributed to said Ebay sales - into a £7000 WIN!!! Basically Saher took a insurmountable pile of pressure off my shoulders and cushioned me from the stress! This Lady is the G.O.A.T! Give her a shout !!!

A very refreshing experience to engage with bean counters who are able to simplify the dark art of HMRC into tangible form for us mere mortals!

Completed a request form on the website over a week ago to ask for some help with pension contributions. Heard nothing!
