Cancelled my credit card without…

Cancelled my credit card without notifying me right before a trip. Best part is that I was on the phone with them and they asked if I wanted them to send a new card and I explicitly said to please not do that, as I am traveling soon. Next day, my card doesn't work, they can't get me a new one in time and when they do, it will have a different number, invalidating all my pre-authorized payments. Zero trust in RBC.

Horrible, unprofessional stuff and covering up the complaints.

Absolutely horrible, unprofessional customer service!!!
I made a complaint, it was closed without any follow up. I called again, the requested to investigate and listen to the RBC recordings about the horrible customer service skills from the Fraud Department. Then Rita, from the Client Care callas, completely unprepared, asked me if I want to stay a client if RBC, I have to change my behaviour. I asked if she listened to the RBC recordings, she said no but there are notes you were rude.

Then they send me a letter Termination if Banking Relationship.
They do t follow up about the complaints, don't investigate, waste my time and cover up the complaints without any responsibility.
I have been a client if RBC for 40 years. Horrible, unprofessional customer service skills.

Always having online banking issues

Always having online banking issues. Messaged them through the app at 2PM, hasn't responded yet, and it is 7:30PM. Called them, after 30 min wait, they finally answered. Asked why I am unable to see my transactions for Credit Card, and was told it is a "technical issue". When asked, why does it not show any information regarding this on the official website, the response was "That's only for bank accounts and technical issues. Your issue is with online banking, everything is working, just the credit card, you're unable to see any transactions at this time". When asked when will this be resolved, they responded "Currently we have not received any updates about when this issue will be resolved. Please check again tonight or early tommorrow morning". And this is not the first time.. Some shady stuff is going on, every few months, "Unable to process transactions at this time", and no one has a solution?

Customer service is very rude

Customer service is very rude. Hung up on me after I asked them to repeat something I didn't hear. Also they are more interested in creating problems than resolving them. Does not care about long term clients. No loyalty with this bank. And who is this bank actually hiring. Employees lack basic social skills and some don't even speak English. Take your business elsewhere.

Worst Bank Ever

I hate this bank. I solved a problem regarding my online account the other day only for them to block it in the next day and I had to go to work the next day and I rely on uber. My funds were locked and honestly I wouldn’t think twice going to this bank. THE WORST BANK EVER IN CANADA. I lost my money and hours of work because of them.

RBC stole 80.00 dollars from me and…

RBC stole 80.00 dollars from me and refused to give it back... I'm a terminally ill woman who has to count every single penny . October 22/2024 is when it happened... I had a find and save account and it kept pulling from my checking account and weird amounts and it would mess up my payments ,so I called to have it closed. So 80 was still in that account and wasn't transferred back in my checking account. I spoke with 3 people on customer service and the lady found it and told me to go to the bank and have them put it back in my account because she couldn't do it the actual branch had to. Well went to the rbc at Dufferin and queen. The teller found it but needed the manager to do something to approve it and he said I already received it and I showed him my account from my view and he told me that I was scamming the bank .I was so angry that he said that. I don't have any money as it is due to being disabled. I still haven't gotten that money returned to me. RBC stole my money and they have millions. They enjoy taking from disabled people and I worked my entire life and to have a Bank Steal from me is so disgusting. I did call the police and they told me that it's a civil matter and I need a lawyer smfh RBC WOULD GET A 0 IF IT WENT THAT LOW ... YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELF RBC ... THEIVES

And it happened October 22nd/2024

Put on hold

Put on hold, then they hung up after 1.5 hours. When I called back to make a complaint, put on hold again with no resolution.

Originally called as they didn't give us our free airpod promotion after opening an account. Promised a redemption email after 20 business days, after we got our "congrats" email. It's been over that. Still no 2nd email, nor airpods.

This is not at all a good bank to deal…

This is not at all a good bank to deal with. They used to be. I have been a loyal customer since I was 16 years old (approximately 50 years).

They arbitrarily reduced my e-transfer limit without informing me. When I phoned they said I needed to come into the branch if I wanted to know why. When I went into the branch they said it was for my own safety because there is generally an increase in incidents of fraud. It was nothing I did and there was not even any fraudulent activity on my account. I later found out it was a dishonest effort to get me to come in and sign new forms that I was told were not optional to protect me from fraud.

After that, they increased my limit for e-transfers to $10,000 (something I would never have agreed to) and they would not allow me to change it back. Instead they told me 'it's okay, someone would have to have your pin number to take money from your account by e-transfer and it is your responsibility to make sure no one has your pin number.'

After that, they told me that I missed more than 2 minimum payments on my visa. That information was actually incorrect.

If your statement due date is the 17th of the month, for example, it is reasonable to assume that payments made after the 17th should be applied to the following month's minimum payment. That is not the case FYI.

Apparently, if you make a payment after the 17th and before the 24th, they may arbitrarily to apply it to the previous month without in forming you. This could result in them recording a failure to meet your minimum payment the next month and you would never know until you find out that your low rate option Visa with an excellent credit rating is suddenly more than doubled and more than double the minimum payment with no notice at all.

It also depends on what customer service rep you speak to in order to solve the issue. Each person will have different rules and if you have a conversation they will not put it on your file. They will just say, that was then, now the rules have changed.

They do not take accountability at all for issues they create and all of the consequences of their choices and lack of information fall on you.

Save yourself a great big headache and deal with your local credit union instead. This bank has zero integrity.

My Honest Experience with RBC and Sagen

My Honest Experience with RBC and Sagen

I’m sharing this because people experiencing financial hardship deserve to understand what the process can feel like.

We reached out to RBC because we were experiencing genuine financial difficulty and were trying to be proactive before falling behind on our mortgage. We were not asking to have our debt forgiven. We were asking for temporary relief or a reasonable arrangement that would allow us to keep our mortgage in good standing.

Unfortunately, our request was declined. We were told that, based on our financial situation, payment assistance would not solve the underlying problem and could increase the mortgage balance.

We also contacted Sagen, as the mortgage insurer/third party involved with our mortgage. They did not approve assistance either and send the heartbreaking email to RBC and to us.

What was especially discouraging was hearing that when someone is experiencing financial hardship, the options can feel extremely limited. We were left worried that if we cannot keep up with the payments, the ultimate consequence could be losing our home.

I understand that banks and mortgage insurers have policies, risk assessments, and eligibility requirements. I also understand that no institution is obligated to approve every hardship request.

But when a family reaches out before things become worse, there should be a clear path to discuss realistic solutions—not simply a “no.”

We are still trying to find a way forward and keep our home. I’m sharing this experience honestly because others may be facing the same situation and should know that asking for help does not necessarily mean an easy solution will be available.

Financial hardship can happen to ordinary families. We need solutions, understanding, and clear communication—not more fear.

Got duped into getting a RBC WestJet credit card, I used it and forgot about the purchase....my bad, however I never received a statement or payment due notification, online or via snail mail, first notification I received was a late payment notification. This hit my credit score by -140 points. I have TD and BMO credit cards and they always send me notifications of pending payments.

Terrible customer service. Waited more than an hour and nobody picked up the phone. I had to waste my time and visit the branch to fix the problem. The Bank deserves less than one star for their poor customer service.
