Shocking quality paint - Covaplus trade emulsion. Used it on two rooms in our house and another couple in our relatives place (different colours). Went on nice but marks incredibly easily - to... See more

Worse paint ever
Worse paint ever! Wouldn't of give it any stars if it would of let me.
I bought the interior non drip gloss for wood and metal.
Even after stiring for a very long time it was still watery! Rubbish coverage, I was only refreshing the woodwork in the down stairs toilet. Did 2 coats and still streaky and dripped everywhere! Also I used masking tape to be neat against the wall....the tape peeled the gloss off in like a plastic/rubbery strip! I paid over £20 for it, its so bad that its going in the bin and ive ordered Dulux paint instead! Id rather put up with the smell and have to use terps for the brushes then EVER use Johnstones paint again!
I bought one coat Shed and fence paint.
I bought one coat Shed and fence paint.
I also used it on my decking.
Unfortunatly after it dried it rained and its coming off.
What disgusting paint tetrible product. Even hand rails on the decking fence is coming off.

used johnstone durable paint for years

Worst paint ever Johnstones Vintage Denim wood…
We bought Johnstones Vintage Denim wood and metal satinwood paint to go on some brand new wooden panelling. We undercoated and then rubbed down again to make sure we got the perfect finish. The we applied the johnstones satinwood and it went downhill from there. We ended up having to buy a second tin to try and get it to cover and it’s still see through!!! 4 coats and it looks absolutely awful. After all our careful prep work and I’m so disappointed. You can see every brush mark and roller mark and can still see the undercoat grinning through. We are both professional painters but have always tried to avoid water based gloss/satin as it’s not great but this is the worst ever. It now needs completely re sanding which will be a real task as it forms a rubbery skin - and then repainting- we will definitely NOT be using Johnstones ever again.
Needed a colour match for kitchen…
Needed a colour match for kitchen cabinets so brought a door to the Ballymena, NI branch. Matthew, Euan and Gary couldn’t have been more helpful, they colour matched the door perfectly, advised on type of paint and other products, and gave me a great price. Excellent service, big thanks to Matthew, Euan and Gary.
POOR QUALITY DO NOT BUY!
Bought the satin interior wood and metal paint in sage green. Prepped wood panelling and proceeded to paint. Or should I say slid some paint around for a bit. It will not cover at all, just streaks and patches everywhere. Tried another coat, looks no better. Contacted customer service who weren't interested at all. They didn't want to investigate if this was a faulty batch. They suggested I hadn't stirred it enough and told me there was nothing they could do. Had to redo it with a different paint. Complete waste of time and money. DO NOT BUY THIS PAINT. READ THE REVIEWS.
Excellent professional service
We recently had to paint one wall in our living room so it was really important to us that it matched the other walls. We had several small cratchings of the old paint to go by. Geoffrey at Johnstones Paint store in Navan was absolutely fantastic he was able to match the paint easily by sight. We were a bit dubious cos we had thought it was a much lighter colour that was needed. Thanks to Geoffrey's professionalism and skills we now have a perfectly matched wall and we are very grateful for his help and expertise. We would recommend Johnstones Navan store for a brilliant service.

Generous 3 stars had large lumps in the paint thought was cloth at first still seems to have painted ok but had to work at taking it out
Covaplus is a terrible paint
Covaplus is a terrible paint. Goes on well but marks with the slightest touch. AVOID
Terrible paint
Terrible paint, the coverage is a joke, after three application still the same. Wish I had read the reviws first. Wouldn't recommand.
Excellent service,quality and price
Excellent service, product range and price full of knowledge , I had a great chat and received a good amount of advice with genuine laughter and smiles, helped me out quite a lot, would highly recommend to all especially if your wanting a colour of paint that you can't buy anywhere else
Terrible paint
So bad that I’m actually writing a review about PAINT on a Sunday morning.. yes Paint..
Bought Johnson’s to paint 2 bedrooms , I normally use Dulux, but thought I’d try Johnson’s due to the cost, boy was this a mistake.
The paint is runny and almost watery, continuously slides off the brush/roller and drips everywhere. When using the roller it leaves tiny specs all over the place from splash back.
The coverage is laughable, what would normally have taken me 2 coats with Dulux took 5 coats… yes 5.., ended up spending the same amount of money (as I had to buy double the paint due to it being so bad) and doing twice the work.
Never again.
I bought the paint my colour and it…
I bought the paint my colour and it takes like 6 coats to look right it is crap wat a waste of money and time
New paint terrible
Bought Johnstones white gloss because I had run out of it, and I had been happy with it previously. New one is completely different and terrible. Has a viscosity similar to water and should not be labelled 'non drip'. Have thrown half of a 2.5 litre tin away due to frustration and time lost using it.
Very disappointed
I decided to buy your paint as it's the one our landlord used before but the recent formula change has completely ruined the quality. The coverage is noticeably worse now. The consistency feels thinner and streaky, and it doesn’t dry evenly anymore.
On top of that, the finish looks cheap compared to the old version. It marks easily, scuffs faster, and doesn’t hold up nearly as well over time.
If you’re considering this paint based on older reviews, be aware that the product is no longer the same. I won’t be buying it again unless they bring back the original formula.
Because of this reason we are e having to repaint some of the areas using a more resistant brand , obviously paying extra for both, the painter and the materials.
Not at all happy with this paint
Not at all happy with this paint. I should have read reviews first. Trying to paint my bathroom door and the results look awful. Will not buy anymore. Back to Dulux or Crown
Most disappointing
I found this Tile paint to be ineffective , this paint was expensive and most disappointing.
It is water based unlike traditional oil based paint.
Following a light sponge cleaning of tiles after almost 2 weeks of application, the paint was flaking off.
Would not recommend or use again.
Avoid home delivery…because erm..it doesn’t deliver!
We were going to buy from another site but having used Johnstone’s paint before we tried them for this project. I opted for their home delivery service by buying online as my preparation work for the project was keeping me busy. I knew that their promised express delivery of next day delivery may not be 100% reliable but it 100% failed.
I received an email from DPD the same day I ordered but DPD still do not have my paint and my project is delayed, I could have visited a Johnstone’s shop for the paint …I passed 2 shops on my travels today…but thought home delivery might be more convenient. I was wrong.
I have queried this..I live fairly close to their dispatch warehouse in Edinburgh and they won’t even let me pick it up. Their customer service people seem not to care.
It’s a bank holiday weekend so I don’t expect to receive the paint until the middle of next week at the earliest.
Wish I had ordered from Farrow and Ball after all as I now see many reviews of poor quality from Johnstone’s…of course I cannot confirm if this is true as I don’t have any paint!
Goodness Johnstone you want one star
Goodness Johnstone you want one star? I wouldn't give you any.
Waste of money time and effort using your paint. Dreadful stuff. How can you still make this so called paint and sell it in reputable shops. So wish I had read reviews.
Now having to go and buy more paint to cover the mess that it has left.
Do not even think about buying spending money on this "paint". Horrible stuff.

Used Johnson’s satin wood paint we repaired the surface thoroughly but it still flacked off. We have had to sand it back down removing all the satin wood and paint again with a different product. We tried complaining to Johnson’s but got no reply. Will never use their paint again.
