It works well, but dont I approve this business model
The connection with the landlords ans the owners have been great. Quickly and smooth. Also the customer service was very nice and helpful. However, I don't appreciate a business model where you are sold the houses like an advertisement and you cannot contact the owners unless you pay on forehand. I believe it's making abuse of a personal right and taking advantage of the desperate housing situation of the Netherlands. However, customer service was great.

Searching on Huurwoningen.nl is free, and the paid subscription is an optional extra on top of that. We do understand why having to pay before you can take the next step feels uncomfortable in a market where house hunters are already under a lot of pressure. We are passing your point on internally.
One practical tip in the meantime: save your search in your account and switch on the email alerts. In this market a listing often has enough responses within a few hours, so being early tends to matter more than anything else.

I signed up for the 14-day trial…
I signed up for the 14-day trial (€0.01) while looking for a room and used the site once. I didn't realise the trial would automatically turn into a paid subscription of €29.95. Their emails ended up in my spam folder, so I only found out when I got a formal notice threatening a collection agency and €40 in extra costs.
I cancelled immediately, 9 days into the paid period, without having used Premium at all. I contacted customer service, explained I'm a student on a tight budget, and offered a fair compromise of paying only for the 9 days. Both the agent and the supervisor refused. They had my phone number but never contacted me by phone or SMS before escalating.
The staff were polite, but the system is built so that people who forget to cancel pay a full month, with no room for goodwill. Be very careful with the trial and set a reminder to cancel before day 14.

Our subscription is a recurring service: after the trial period it continues until you cancel it yourself, which you can do at any time through your account. We show the price and the cancellation conditions during registration and in the confirmation email, and we always send reminders by email before an invoice goes any further. None of that helps much when those emails end up in a spam folder, and we hear you on that.
Requests for goodwill are something we look at case by case, so we would rather pick this up with you directly than in public. We have reached out to you through Trustpilot to share contact details so we can look at your situation together. Two days from call to keys is quick even by our standards, we had to read that twice. And for anyone trying the same trick: a saved search with instant alerts tells you a listing is live the moment it appears, which gives you something to call about before the rest does.

Not happy? Easy refund
It is possible to get email notifications and reply to listings. In the 15 days of use I was in the top 5 earliest reply to several listings and yet never contacted back by landlords or agencies. I was doubting the potential of the subscription and after contacting the customer center I was given a refund for my monthly subscription without issues.
