My data was used to disburse a loan I never accepted
I used Fintonic to simulate loan options. I never accepted any offer. Days later, MoneyMan deposited €300 in my account with a contract I never signed, now demanding €477 back at a TAE of 5,378%.
MoneyMan confirmed in writing that they received my “application” through an external comparator, Fintonic/Atlantix. When I contacted Fintonic to understand how my data was transmitted and whether I ever consented to actual loan contracting (not just simulation), they responded that they “don’t know what conditions I accepted with third parties.”
That answer is not good enough. Fintonic is a regulated financial intermediary with direct GDPR obligations over how it shares user data with partner lenders. Passing my data to MoneyMan in a way that triggered an automatic loan disbursement, without my explicit informed consent for contracting, is a potential GDPR violation.
I have filed complaints with the Banco de España and the AEPD naming both MoneyMan and Fintonic. I would strongly advise anyone using Fintonic to read the fine print before simulating anything your data may be used to trigger loans you never asked for.
