I’ve hired a van from Mcnicoll Vehicle Hire twice now and had a great experience both times. The whole process was smooth and straightforward, from booking to pickup and return.

Paul was especially helpful and made everything easy. The vans were clean, well maintained, and offered very good value for money.

The only downside is that there aren’t enough electric vans available at the moment. Hopefully that’s something that can expand in the future.

Overall, I would definitely recommend them and would happily use their service again.

Glasgow Branch, van hire. Could not have gone any smoother. A different vehicle hire company stranded me the day before my move at 4pm, I called McNicoll and Paul sorted me with a like-for-like replacement at half the price (not even a discount, just a much better price!)

Handover all great, vans were in good condition. I went straight back to McNicoll the week after for another hire to move some more stuff.

Mainly dealt with Paul who was courteous, extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Also dealt with I think Chris (apologies if wrong, only spoke once) who was just as knowledgeable and helpful. Great team, first place I'll look for a van going forward and will recommend to all mates needing to hire.

I hired a van for the day (8:30- 5:00). When I arrived I was informed I could actually return it anytime before 8:30 the next day if I was later than 5 which was handy. The staff I spoke to were nice and fast to get all paperwork done. I had no issues with the van.

IF YOU CRAVE DISAPPOINTMENT AND POOR SERVICE AND NEED TO BE LET DOWN AT THE VERY LAST MINUTE THEN LOOK NO FURTHER 👎👎👎👎👎

I WAS INFORMED ON THE FIRST OCCASION OF THE LAST MINUTE CHANGE TO THE HIRE WHEN I ARRIVED AT THE SERVICE COUNTER IN EDINBURGH

ON THE 2ND OCCASION I RESERVED ON LINE AND RECIEVED AN E-MAIL
1HR BEFORE THE VEHICLE HIRE TO INFORM ME THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT AVAILABLE ON THE VERY MORNING THAT I MOVE HOUSE ,DESPITE STRESSING IN ADVANCE ON THE RESERVATION BOOKING FORM THAT THEY LET ME DOWN AT THE LAST MINUTE PREVIOUSLY AND CHANGED THE VEHICLE HIRE TO A DIFFERENT VEHICLE AND I COULD NOT ALLOW ANOTHER SIMILAR OCCURRENCE TO TAKE PLACE AGAIN .

I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN BETTER !!!

AVOID THEM IF YOU CAN AND GO FOR ANY OTHER VEHICLE HIRE COMPANY UNLESS DISAPPOINTMENT AND MISERY IS YOUR THING

I hired a van on line and picked up the vehicle without a hitch. Unfortunately the vehicle turned out to be just too small for the job in hand. The staff at Newbridge , Edinburgh were brilliant. Gave me a larger van with no additional charge. Job done and vehicle returned. Well done McNicolls.

I had a terrible experience with McNicoll Vehicle Hire. I booked a van on 11th January for collection on 16th January, but it wasn’t ready, wasting a day off work. When I finally used the van on 19th January, it broke down, leaving me stranded for hours.

The situation was poorly handled, causing significant disruption and stress during my house move. I eventually booked a van with Enterprise, and I wish I had chosen them from the start. Their process was smooth, and their customer service was better.

If you’re in Edinburgh and need a van, save yourself the hassle and go with Enterprise in Leith. It’s a much better experience.

This company are total cowboys. Don't jeopardise a holiday, a business trip or your work...choose another provider! I had a booking all paid for and confirmed only to be told at the last-minute that I had to pick it up from their Newbridge centre instead - massive inconvenience. Upon arrival I was then informed that the original drop off time (8.30am on Monday) was not possible and the vehicle had to be dropped off by 4pm on Sunday. A slight difference to what was agreed! There was no apology for this oversight or offer to part refund me for this shortfall. To add insult to injury upon returning the vehicle with a full tank of fuel I was later charged to my credit card, unbeknown to myself, for petrol costs as they claimed it was returned below where it should have been. Finally, they admitted their error and I was credited this back but only after having to make repeated contact with them. Beware: they promise to send you a copy of all contracts as well as the vehicle sign off sheets. This is a lie. Not a company that advocates 'service with a smile'. There is no service just a catalogue of errors and oversights and there is certainly no smile in fact it's borderline rudeness at times. Don't be fooled by the appearance of favourable prices compared to other providers as you'll just pay for the difference in other ways. In this case cheap is expensive. There is no value to be found here whatsoever - avoid at all costs .

Gave me a car with missing tire repair kit, then charged me over 300 pounds for roadside assistance for a flat tire without telling me, not when I called to report the problem and the missing kit, not when I turned the car back over to them. Replied to my follow up queries with illogical and barely coherent emails. Never sent me copy of contract. Avoid this company like the plague, they are dodgy and unreliable.

I was really disappointed about this car rental agency. I book online a type of car saying "Toyota or similar" and when I picked up the car it was a Fiat 500, which is really not similar to what I booked. They told us that if we bring the car back dirty we have to pay an extra charge of 85 pounds, which is crazy.
Anyway, me and my friends started our road trip and discovered that roads were terrible with big wholes everywhere so we actually had to drive carefully. Even paying our full attention on that, we break down the first time 2 wheels on the right side of the car, we call the car rental to explain them the situation and the customer service was really slow, lots of transfers of my calls etc. After 2 hours and half waiting in the middle of no where, someone came to help us and pick us to the nearest garage and entirely change the two wheels we broke. We paid 124 pounds for both wheels, which we thought was fair, and continued our trip. The second time we break down, same scenario, we called the car rental at 10am, they said someone should come before noon and at 3pm finally someone came. We didn't pay the extra wheel that we changed (it was the one of the left side at the back so a different one) because we thought we will pay the next day when we are going to bring the car back. But we didn't expect that amount. Once my friend bring back the car the guy told him to pay 390 pounds which is the equivalent to 500€ because the wheels that we replaced were bad and they wanted to charge us more because we are tourists and they maybe thought that we will have no choice but to accept to pay that unbelievable amount. Even the deposit was less expensive (around 200 pounds which is 250 euros approximately) I'd rather paid that rate instead of that crazy one ! Just wanted to review this really bad experience that I had and to inform you that if you want to rent a car, don't go there!
