We found an apartment in Cagnes-sur-Mer on the Rentola website and booked it for two months, July and August, through our agency. Our agency paid the requested amount, but the apartment owners then demanded a new amount as a deposit. After we paid that deposit, they emailed us again, asking for a second deposit. Once we paid the second deposit, they claimed they needed money for utilities and maintenance. After we paid that as well, they demanded an additional deposit of €760. Somehow, our agents paid that too, and in the end, the initial price of €800 for two months skyrocketed to €2,000.
On the day of our departure, they hadn't sent us the address, nor did they provide a phone number. The phone number they did give was fake and permanently disconnected. That is when we realized it was a scam. We wrote to Rentola, and they replied saying they would take down the listing. However, five days later, the ad is still up on their website.
Warning to everyone: this is a scam! We realized that the Rentola website has no security measures whatsoever; anyone who wants to scam people can post fake apartments on their platform, and users will get defrauded

Also, their customer service is terrible—they even addressed me only by my name without using “Mrs.” in a formal email. I will never use this service again.

I had a very disappointing experience…
I had a very disappointing experience with Rentola.
I signed up for what appeared to be a trial while searching for rental listings. I cancelled the subscription shortly after because the service was not useful for me. Months later, I discovered that I had continued to be charged.
When I contacted customer support, they refused to investigate properly and simply repeated their terms and conditions, saying there was no record of my cancellation and that I should have noticed the charges sooner.
This is extremely frustrating because customers cannot reasonably be expected to keep screenshots as proof of cancellation. If a cancellation fails or is not recorded properly in their system, the customer has no way of knowing until charges appear.
Instead of trying to resolve the situation, the company dismissed the issue and refused any refund.
Based on my experience, I would strongly advise others to be very careful before signing up and to closely monitor their bank statements if they do.
Very disappointing customer service.
