Written by the company

MBT® (MasaiBarefootTechnology) was established in 1996, when we discovered that natural instability has incredible health benefits. We discovered this while observing the extraordinarily agile Masai community walk barefoot on natural and uneven terrain. Seeing this community in action made us realise that the human body just isn’t designed to walk or stand on the flat, hard surfaces which surround us in modern society. We therefore decided to develop a new style of footwear that imitates the process of walking on soft and uneven terrain. The results have been both incredible and revolutionary. Today, MBT® footwear is sold in more than 35 countries around the world, and happy users have confirmed that wearing MBT® footwear has notably increased their wellbeing.

Soles crumbled away

Despite the sandals being really comfy for long periods standing (like at a music festival) and my legs and back didn’t get so tired, the soles crumbled away. I pinched my mum’s ones as she hadn’t been able to get used to them so they were virtually new and still boxed (so no exposure to light). Within two wearing the soles crumbled away too! Shame that a good product ruined by poor choice of material. I can’t recall the dates so the date given is not reliable.

My 2 pairs of MBTs fell apart so quickly

I have now had 2 pairs of MBTs - most recently the Chelsea boot. On both occasions I’ve been disappointed. The first pair were shoes/trainers (can’t recall the name), but the ankle wore out and I complained and sent them back. MBT glued a piece of white plastic/leather where the wear had occurred (despite little use). They weren’t interested/no apology or explanation. Didn’t offer to replace or do a decent repair. Unfortunately, they were the then too uncomfortable to wear. More recently bought Chelsea boots (twenty years later), hoping the quality had improved. This time, the sole cushioning crumbled and the sole detached from the boot.
I don’t know why MBT haven’t gone bust - the quality is worse than anything else I have experienced, even cheap shoes… all I would say is expect them to fall apart before you can get much use out of them. I wouldn’t recommend or buy them again!

Chinese made MBT shoes meaning … quality.

I bought this shoes MBT M360 E1 Sneakers man and it is made in china which I am totally dismayed considering the price. I bet I am just paying for the brand and not the quality anymore. So anyone planning of buying mbt shoes, be aware that it is chinese made product.

Not worth buying due to the issues with returns

Love MBT trainers, but returning pair that didn't fit cost me nearly £20 and was so unclear it took google and a day of trying every postal service to find one that recognised the return address.

I won't buy again. I'll buy fitflop instead which are at least uk based and I font have to send back to Spain if they don't fit!

Issues:
1. Order on a uk site but ship from Spain
2. No returns instructions in box
3. Return address different from shipping address. Including company and contact names
4. Have to pay for returns (not made clear when purchasing)
5. No clear instructions on how to send using ups/evri etc or what if any, customs papers are needed
6. Returns are just an incredible faff and never any reply to customer service emails

Dreadful

Dreadful, I ordered a pair of MBT and they sent the wrong size. The process of getting a refund was so difficult I had to get a refund from PayPal. I re ordered from MBT and they have sent me the wrong size again. This company is just not what it used to be. Avoid the service is dreadful and unreliable.

Do not recommend

Bought a pair of waterproof boots for walking the dog last November. 7 months later the soles are coming apart. I raised my complaint to MBT saying it must be a manufacturing issue as I'd had MBT trainers before and they lasted years.
MBT came back and said a stone must have caused the damage and mud. How they arrived at that decision is beyond me. I'll never buy from them again. £300 for boots that lasted 7 months.

Ankle Fusion March 2024

Just had an Ankle Fusion March 2024, searched for over 3 weeks for the best shoe/trainers to help with walking.
I am 66 and never paid more than £40 for a pair of trainers in my life. So after looking and looking for reviews, and believe me it was 4 hours a day, I narrowed it down to 10. I knew I needed them by 17/06/24 as coming out of my boot on the 18th, so I took the plunge, and opted for MBT 2000,
With trepidation I put them on
(Left foot Fusion)..
I only intend to walk in them, so no Jogging etc,
Well... And this is personally
Wow sooooo comfortable, ankle just sinks into the trainer, just getting used to walking properly,.but definitely getting there even after a short period of time.
Definitely going to buy some sneakers at Christmas
For me personally and up to now there are 100% brilliant
Definitely recommended

Appalling quality

Well, I don't know about their customer service as I have purchased through other shops, but the quality of the soles is absolutely dreadful.
I bought a pair of (extremely expensive) boots, wore them for a while then put them away for the warmer weather.
When I got them out again they looked fine, but then when I put them on and walked around the soles at the heel completely disintegrated! The foam filling crumbled to nothing.
A quick Google revealed this is a very common problem with MBT shoes.
Whatever material they use to fill the heels is completely inadequate and degrades very quickly, rendering the shoes completely useless, not to mention making a huge mess.
Given the cost, this is absolutely unacceptable.
Do not waste your money.

Dissapointed

I ordered and received a good looking and comfy pair of MBT.
However on developing problems after only a few wears I contacted MBT. I was asked many ? And for numerous pics. Then told to return in original condition and in box????
I don't have box and obv can't return in original condition ..returning which by the way was also quite a few hoops to jump through.
I have not heard from them since saying I could not return in original condition !!!
I don't recommend this service at all but if you are lucky to get the shoes in good condition that is a different story as I have had quite a few pairs in the past when I was able to access a stockist in London area.

Soles falling apart

Bought boots and shoes about 2 years ago. I hardly ever worn them and the soles are falling apart into pieces. MBT refuse to accept responsibility, stating it is normal for footwear to fall apart if not worn often! Totally non-sensical Poor quality footwear made of the cheapest possible materials while advertising themselves as an exclusive brand.

Disgusting Service

My shoes were ordered on 6th September and 16 days later have still not arrived. They appear to have been lost in transit, if they have actually been dispatched at all.

Despite emailing customer services twice about the missing parcel I have received no response from this company and have now had to open an investigation with the delivery company.

These shoes retail at £200. it is a disgusting way to treat customers and although I have owned 2 pairs in the past, I would never buy from them again.

I really hope that I'm able to reclaim the money lost.

There is no customer service

Ordered and the size measurement not correct at all. 23cm comes as 25cm and if you want to return the item have to pay £15 on the top. Emailed several times but no answer yet, called the phone and the lady who answered asked me to email!! There is no customer service or any help at all. If you know your size for specific model of shoe I would recommend otherwise all depends on your luck.

Disappointed …

Giving 3 as Ordered a sandal in promotion, delivery was OK but description not matching the material!
so disappointed as couldn't even use it for work yet which would have been a huge difference to my back. That's what I was hoping for as Had mbt for yrs a decade ago, loved it especially it was leather insole hence buying again 1with same attributes .
while selecting I noticed some sandals not revealing the details, sent a feedback, appears it was a bug so I never thought of anything else, this things happen.
Reporting the failure in delivered item they only apologised though and categorically said I got only option for exchange, didn't even ask haha
So weird they only offered me return and exchange /refund as it was another error on their site but they simply just avoid the request to make a possible returning cx happy bc they just won't give the price difference which is rather silly as its not leather insole only microfiber isn't it...
Can't fathom Why put cx through the hassle of returning and probably to cause another disappointment as after all this not even sure I want an exchange if they can't even list their very items accordingly...still sleeping on it and the delivered goods just haunting me from the corner not able to use what a shame they can't think of better trouble shooting.
I. E why pay 5* rate for a hotel if they don't have the amenities etc...
