Worst bank ever

Worst bank ever! After 2 months I still don't have access to my account, 'cos I have not received the login code. Only user ID, but in order to access my account I need to activate it, but jiné of the methods work. So I wanted to close the account, but Guess what! I need access to the mobile app to close the account! WORST BANK EVER!

Nordea is an absolute disgrace

Nordea is an absolute disgrace. We agreed on loan terms and a margin adjustment during a phone call, and I was told to sign the documents afterward. I signed everything in good faith, only to discover three months later that the margin change was never applied. This means I’ve been overpaying for months because of Nordea’s incompetence or outright dishonesty. I could have switched to another bank with a better deal, but I stayed out of convenience—big mistake. After this blatant failure, I will be leaving Nordea immediately and will make sure others know how unreliable they are.

Nordea Failing Again - Avoid

Nordea Rep selling pensions from this bank (in English) did not indicate the responsible unit did not use English. Had they been transparent I would not have taken a pension with them.
When dealing with them I was advised to use a translator...by them. Yet other parts of the bank use English.
Overall shocking customer service. Phone service, customer engagement awful.
They still use paper forms and expect the client to complete everything, including information they already hold.
I will now be looking for a new bank. They do not seem to understand that a negative experience with one part of the bank has a washback effect on the overall impression of the bank.

I never imagined a bank could leave a…

I never imagined a bank could leave a customer completely stranded in a foreign country — but Nordea managed it. Without warning or explanation, they froze my bank card and denied me access to all of my funds, including my stock portfolio. No emergency funds, no alternatives, no help. Just stonewalling and blame-shifting.

I reached out multiple times, only to be met with robotic responses and a complete lack of urgency. Nordea even had the nerve to suggest that my embassy should cover my return travel expenses — as if this wasn't entirely their doing. This is not just bad service — it’s negligence.

Let’s talk about the bigger picture. Nordea has a 1.5-star rating on multiple review platforms — and it shows. One has to wonder: with such abysmal customer satisfaction, has HR ever held anyone accountable? Or are the poor performers just shielded by corporate box-ticking and DEI window dressing? Diversity, equity, and inclusion shouldn’t be an excuse to ignore incompetence — and it certainly doesn’t excuse treating people like this.

I’ve been a customer for years. This experience makes it painfully clear: Nordea does not value its customers, has no real contingency plan for emergencies, and no interest in accountability.

If you're considering Nordea: don’t. If you already bank with them: start planning your exit.

Lost my transfer to Canada Eur 1000 and Nordea refused to trace it

As a foreigner in Helsinki, I really disappointed with this bank. The service is lousy and I have to wait more than 20 minutes to have my call answered. Later, I tried to transfer the money from Finland to Canada using Nordea application and the person that I transferred the money never receive it after 21 days. When I asked Nordea why they do not trace the transfer, they said it is not their responsibility. The money is not in their bank anymore. However, the bank in Canada already check the bank statement and no transfer received. Can you imagine, Nordea refused to trace the transfer overseas. How awful. Up to now I really have no idea where is the money that I transferred to RBC Bank Canada. No one in that bank is responsible to trace. I lost Eur 1000 for this transfer and no one in Nordea is willing to help me.

Lousy (international) customer support

The Nordea app hadn't been working for over half a year. Only recently, after a factory reset and de-cluttering of my phone did the app work again. In December I have had contact with Technical Support who told me I would "be contacted shortly", but this never happened, and the two emails I sent afterwards were never replied to. The largest bank of Finland should really should be more proactive towards helping their customers.

Useless bank…

I have been a customer of this bank since i was a child (it had a different name in those days). I now live abroad and have a couple of old accounts. I have no access to my accounts and while trying to contact customer support, to be kind is to state it’s a complete waste of time. Totally useless and unhelpful. When I then came to Finland i discovered that you can’t even visit the bank without making an appointment first. After a lot of rigmarole I discovered that the bank had started taking monthly maintenance fees (I have never signed anything that i would agree to that) so I consider that to be a pure crime, a theft. Imagine if anybody else would do that?! I got absolutely nothing for that fee, no internet banking, no access to my account via phone or anything.
So when visiting the bank I decided to close the account and wanted to withdraw the funds. (othereise the bank would eventually taken all the money). Even that wasn’t possible as the bank no longer has any cash. Imagine that! It’s like the worst nightmare but it’s reality. After a lot of pressing and puffing the bank staff agreed to transfer the funds to a savings account. I have no idea how I ever will be able to access those funds one day when i need the funds.
I have written a long complaint to the bank explaining my precurious situation but I have never got any reply whatsoever. They simply don’t care!

Unreliable App and No Weekend Support – Now Stranded Abroad Without Access to My Money

As a long-time Nordea customer, I’m beyond frustrated with the recent issues I've experienced. While traveling abroad, the Nordea app suddenly stopped working, and now I’m stranded in a foreign country without access to my funds. Not only can I not manage my accounts, but I also can’t transfer money to my card, meaning I can't use it either. I travel with a minimum amount of cash on the card for safety reasons—ironically, this has now left me completely stuck.

To make matters even worse, Nordea's customer service isn’t available on weekends, leaving me with no way to resolve this urgent problem. It’s shocking that a bank as large as Nordea doesn’t offer 24/7 support, especially when their app fails in such a critical way. Being abroad without access to your finances is stressful enough, but the complete lack of assistance makes the situation unbearable.

If Nordea wants to keep customers, they urgently need to fix the reliability of their app and offer customer support when it’s needed most, especially for those of us who rely on their services while traveling. Until then, I cannot recommend Nordea to anyone who values financial security while abroad.

This bank is genuine trash

This bank is genuine trash. I’ve been a customer for 15 years, and services have continuously gotten worse. The customer service is slow to even respond, misdiagnoses problems and is generally useless. The internet banking is an absolute joke, I live in Asia (I have activated international banking) and I am never able to complete any online payments. Unsurprisingly all my other banking providers are able to provide well-functioning online banking services fit for the 21st century.

Nordea has also blocked my card on 2 occassions without any prewarning. This makes this bank completely unreliable in cases of emergency. I’d recommend avoiding banking with Nordea at all costs.

THE worst customer service imaginable!

I do crypto. Nordea fraud department flagged my transactions and put a block on my account. I notified them that I was happy with the transactions and arranged the release of the hold. They thereafter then placed another hold on my transactions. This time they also limited use of my card to in person card payments only. I once again informed them that I am happy with the transactions. They are insistent that I have been involved in a scam and refuse to lift the hold!

This is my account. Surely I can decide what I want to do with it? To make matters worse, they broke confidentiality by contacting my mother about my account!!! Now I can't even buy a bus ticket because of the limitations they have set on my account!

I am livid! This is the worst service! They are rude and disrespectful! I would never advise anyone to open an account with them! Certainly NO customer service! This bank doesn't even deserve the 1 star rating!

For business clients only

Nordea might be OK for business customers, but absolutely nightmare for private clients.

Internet and mobile banking works on sufficient level, but you are in trouble if you try to do something that internet banking does not support.

Branches are few and far apart, no walk in times.
Loans department does not even take call requests, so if you have to call them, you will queue up to 1 hour to get through.
