Prompt service with good prices
I ordered a prepaid envelope from Lois Bullion. When it arrived, I placed my gold necklaces and unworn rings inside. I went to the Post Office to drop the package off about noon, and by noon the next day, i had received an offer for the value of my gold, accepted it and the money was in my bank. Gold prices are updated daily on their website to give you an approximate value. Due to gemstones, my value was less than 2g lower than i had estimated, so well impressed.

A Clever Use of Alternative Facts
The company proudly announces that it buys gold at 98% of market price... Yet their calculator indicates values well below that. This company buys coins for scrap metal only, does not pay for the coin quality. 98%, in this kind of market, seems as good as can be to be true...
When investigating if we could sell gold to this company and asking for explanations, a few surprises arose:
- a few accusations of doing calculations wrong are used; none of these hold much ground
- the weight of UK sovereign coins, usually set at 7.9881g, fell to 7.92g
- the gold contents of UK sovereign coins was also wrong
- number truncation and rounding, of course in just one direction, are used
- questions about the discrepancy between their announcement and calculator's results were dodged, although with skill
- the final results get nowhere close to the promised 98%, more towards 85-87%, depending on a few details
No wonder why a lot of reviews point to wrong weighting, disappointing offers, etc. The numerous 5-star ratings (assuming, generously, that none were fake) point out to quick payments, and to a generally talented and professional attitude. On the latter, we will have to concur: instead of using the basic arguments from any 'How to Become a Crook for Dummies' book, the general communication is taken to an upper level, seemingly more professional and more expert. However, this will not, in our lifetime, disguise 86% into 98%.

Absolutely fantastic first class professional service. Sent out all necessary envelopes/packaging to us, just a simple form to fill in, no worries about posting as the service came WITH insurance and postage pre-paid. The results of the weight and purity came back to us within a day of receipt of the packages, even better news than we had worked it out to be!, proving this company are totally honest. Money was in the account within the same day of us agreeing the offer, which was I have to say, a VERY generous offer and we were totally thrilled.
