Such a shady company

Such a shady company. I tend to not trust companies who try to force their product onto consumers in sketchy ways. Advertising and getting the word out is one thing but hiding your app in a bunch of pop ups that try to force your download without consent is not okay. Any time I get redirected from a webpage because of the sketchy pop ups it’s 75% these guys starting a download without even confirming it. Never will try it especially with how hard they push it. Looks like a scam feels like a scam because it is. You may do other thing other browsers do but at what cost?? So you can actively sell user data??

terrible scam in their communication

Opera GX is marketed as a browser designed for gamers, with a polished design and some interesting features on paper. However, beyond the visual appeal, several limitations quickly become apparent—especially when it comes to one critical feature: ad blocking.

The built-in ad blocker is clearly below current standards. It allows a significant amount of ads and scripts to pass through, whereas solutions like uBlock Origin do a much cleaner and more aggressive job. The difference is obvious when compared on Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, or Microsoft Edge.

In real-world usage, this lack of efficiency can actually cause issues. For example, when using tools or bots that include ads in their free versions, Opera GX fails to properly filter those elements. As a result, scripts and behaviors remain visible, which can be misinterpreted—sometimes leading to unfair accusations, such as being labeled a “hacker.”

This situation highlights a deeper issue: Opera GX’s ad blocker feels simplified, lacks advanced configuration, and isn’t robust enough to handle modern advertising and tracking technologies.

In the end, Opera GX remains an interesting browser in terms of design and certain features, but it falls short on a fundamental aspect. For users who care about control, privacy, and reliability, using uBlock Origin on a more standard browser is a far better option.

Summary: strong visuals, but significant technical shortcomings.

i just wanted to get rewards for a game…

i just wanted to get rewards for a game a like, installed the browser and the first thing it does is break. the rewards page didnt work. i tried reinstalling the browser, after which the rewards page was just gone and i never got anything. horrible first impression and a waste of my time when i already felt down. the browser does look pretty cool, but id rather not use something that broke within the first 1 min of use.

Goated.

I dont get why people are calling this dogshit or straight up garbage, but ive been using ts for around 4 years now, and Id say that the features are really rich with highly customizable experience. I can add custom keyboard sounds, bg musics and mods which looks quite well. And the sidebar of opera gx allows efficient and effective way to access your messengers and stuff. I personally think that people who are experiencing "bug" these being features not working properly or other things is just due to device or network issue.

avoid

i used it for like 2 years and my review is that

uses more resources than chrome, full to the brim with useless slop that slows down the browser, looks and feels like shit to use

just go to brave or vivaldi, dont waste time on this

(and yes i know about the recent video that came out, ive just been a hater of their practices for years)

Honest review

Bugs, fake "private" vpn, "gaming browser" focused on high performance - with low performance, chinese spyware, buying users by pretending to be a gaming browser. No one in their right mind should be tempted by this thing, just because many YouTubers or streamers are sponsored by it.

Sadly not useable

I have been using Opera GX for over 2 years, and during this time, my CPU has reached up to 90 degrees Celsius. So, I decided to open Chrome, and it was only at 60 degrees Celsius, which makes me feel somewhat sad and angry at the same time, because it's such a good company, but I can't use it because my CPU will get overheated. Therefore, I can only give it 1 star.

They ruined themselves

It's insane that they advertise futuristic improvements, but fail to be able to connect your account on your phone, furthermore I can't connect my flow with the QR code or with the manual code. They started of great with the functions actually working, but now it feels like a high school project.
