The importance is not of the great property but of the lack of ownership of issues experienced

My family and I arrived late on Saturday evening to find a very good and well presented house, with greeting card wishing us a good stay.
Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday to a large part went by without incident.
Late, very late on the Tuesday evening, (approx 9 pm) my daughter advised that someone was attempting to break in in to the property.
Both my wife and I were in bed asleep at the time, my wife was ill.
My wife, however, did go to the door to attempt to find out what was going on.
My wife was met, with what can only be described by a nasty brute of a woman, who claimed to be the property owner, no evidence, no police in tow to verify the claim, in short, nothing to back up the statements being made.
This woman, then forced her way into the property, demanding to know if we had a dog, and without waiting on a reply, proceeded to deliver a tirade of the property rules, that pets were not allowed, other guests were arriving next week who had asthma, the property would need a deep clean, and the dog would not be allowed on the property or on the furniture within. My wife explained that it was obviously an oversight, and was immediately cut off with the declaration that it was "on the web" and the insistence that the dog must sleep in the car.
The "owner" then left, indicating that she would return the following day to further resolve the matter.
At this point my daughters researched the web seeking evidence that the claim of no pets was true, and whilst it is shown on the owners site it is not clear on the other sites advertising the property.
I did not book the week on the owner's site.
My wife then took our dog to our car and slept with him in the car.
The following morning, after a night were no-one slept, I had a meeting with my friends on the river Brora, during which a representative from Booking contacted me to confirm that the owner would be returning to seek resolution.
I then advised my wife that I would be returning to meet with the owner, as I was a little distance away.
Upon returning to the property, the owner had already been there and left the demand that we vacate the property by Friday, as a whole additional day would be required to deep clean and shampoo the carpets / furniture.( this despite both my daughters also having asthma and have no issue with dogs)
There was no further discussion, no negotiation, the dog could remain on the property. This appeared to negate everything imparted the previous evening and for the next 2 days.
I have questions for Booking,
1. Did the owner contact you?
2. Did you advise the owner of her proposed resolution.
3. Did you advise her of the non-negotiable nature of it.
4. did you advise her to tone down her openly aggressive attitude of the evening before.

I ask because my contract is with Booking and not the owner, yet all dealings seem to have been conducted with the owner. Therefore, I have to assume that Booking are happy with the owners disgraceful behaviour and condone it as such.

As a family we decided to leave on the Wednesday as a family, we did not wish nor need to be held to ransom by such a nasty and vindictive person.

We have been visiting Brora for 20 years or so and have never in all that time experienced a situation such as this. I can quite safely say that this is one property we will never visit again.

I am still contemplating issuing this review and all previous correspondence I have with my legal representatives, not with a view towards seeking recompence, more to highlight the lack of ownership to resolution shown by Booking.

A lovely stay

We really enjoyed our stay, Adam the owner was super nice and friendly, the property was clean and in a lovely location, rural and peaceful but still within just a short drive of some beautiful beaches and Newquay town, would definately recommend 😊

Comfortable Stay

We had a very enjoyable stay at March Cottage; what particularly impressed us was the provision and use of environmentally friendly toiletries and cleaning products as well as a clear health and safety regime for evacuation of the building (with emergency lighting) and electrical safety etc. This is something that has often been woefully lacking in other holiday cottages that we have stayed at.
We loved the rewilded garden and its positive impact on wildlife and the unoverlooked seating areas in both the garden and external courtyard. The cottage itself is accessed via a busy main road but is well set back behind other buildings and is very quiet.
The car space adjacent to the cottage is quite tight as indicated and we decided to use the free village car park instead. This is only a very short walk away and is easily accessed via the rear gate. It’s also possible to park in the main road for unloading and loading and this all worked fine for us.
We appreciated the ‘Welcome Pack ‘ of local goods and the greeting card and our interaction with the owner was very friendly.
Overall the cottage is comfortable and well equipped. The stairs from the kitchen to the snug area are a bit of a challenge (but we survived!) but everything else makes for a comfortable stay

Honey pot cottage Weymouth
Honey pot cottage Weymouth. Awful Shouldn’t be rented. It was very unsafe probably wouldn’t pass Gas Safe the cooker had no symbols on the front so you couldn’t tell if the cook was on or off. And the ignition didn't work so you had to lean over it and listen and smell before using a camping gas igniter. The glass shower screen on the bath was not properly attached so when you climbed into the shower you couldn’t touch it. We left the Honeypot cottage Weymouth Following day. And complained to Holiday cottage’s co . Uk. And sent numerous emails and tel calls. They just said the owner would not refund you anything and Tuff really . We could take it further but they are such a Bad company th deal with. They obviously just want the owners cut of the money. Which they seem to have forgotten comes from us. It was not a cheap holiday cottage and we have had many great cottages over the last 4 years. We are walking the coast path. So all we can do is to write awful reviews everywhere and hope it hits there pockets as they hit our .
