Disappointed with Kido’s Lack of Flexibility

I’m quite disappointed with Kido’s administration when it comes to flexibility. If a family needs to be away for more than a month, they make it nearly impossible to hold your child’s spot without continuing full payment. Instead of offering reasonable solutions, they play games and make it seem like you’ll lose your spot if you withdraw—even though it’s clear that keeping absent children on the roster while still collecting fees is just extra income for them.

It feels less like a childcare center and more like a business scheme designed to maximize profits rather than support families. A little more understanding and flexibility would go a long way.

When I first enrolled my daughter

When I first enrolled my daughter, I thought Kido Battersea was a great environment for her to learn and grow. However, after two months, I began noticing a shift in the treatment we were receiving, as well as changes in my daughter’s behavior.

The room manager became noticeably hostile whenever I picked up my daughter. When I requested larger nappies for her, I was told they don’t carry bigger sizes. Despite this, I noticed they were still putting on nappies very tightly, which left scars on her skin. After expressing my concerns, I brought in my own larger nappies, and suddenly they were able to accommodate that request.

Additionally, my daughter started sleeping for up to three hours during the day, which was unusual since she never slept that long at home unless it was nighttime.

On top of this, I’ve been trying to get a refund for my deposit. The general manager promised a payment by the 20th, but has ignored my emails and now, just two days before Christmas, I’m still waiting for a resolution.

While I do think the facility itself is set up well, unfortunately, the staff experience has been disappointing. There are a few staff members who are genuinely great, but they seem overshadowed by others whose behavior has made this experience frustrating.

Great setting for your little one to grow

My daughter attends Kido Wandsworth since 2021 and she is absolutely thriving. Over her time being in this setting she has learned so many important skills as well as gained many relationships.

NOT SEND FRIENDLY NURSERY

If you suspect that your child may have special needs, this nursery may not be the appropriate choice. They appear to lack the expertise in identifying early developmental issues, willingness to assist in finding support once special needs are recognized, and the ability or inclination to adapt, despite any assurances from the management.
Based on my own experience with my child, advocating for their explicit rights under the SEND law didn't prove effective until the very last moment when the local authority had to step in to assist us.
They have a significant number of agency personnel who are unfamiliar with the children and do not receive any briefings about the children, specially who require extra assistance.

When we initially enrolled at Kido, the class had approximately 15 children. However, now each group consists of around 30 children, making the space quite cramped for everyone. Additionally, there's limited outdoor space for play. Excursions to the park are virtually non-existent, particularly for children with special needs.

If you are comfortable with your child being in such a small space and with no fresh air, the curriculum for mainstream children is quite good, and the staff (not the management; if you encounter any issues, they may not provide assistance) are commendable.

We are really impressed with Kido Wandsworth Preschool

Our son settled in quickly and now, after just 3 months, he has become a confident little boy. The staff at Kido Wandsworth has been so helpful and understanding of our needs. Our son has developed a strong fondness for his staff, which is wonderful to see. We get regular updates and amazing pictures every week! We highly recommend Kido Preschool to everyone!
