I have worked here for several months. Overall, the platform is simple and direct. The tasks vary in difficulty. My reason for not giving it 5 stars is job offers are often uncertain. I check the... See more

Before I get into my review, I would like to share that I have taken the assessment test, but it has not even been 24 hours so my opinion here is not based off of passing or failing. It's what happened next.
After submitting my assessment, I told Gemini, and we started conversing about the level of difficulty and how it is probably graded. The AI asked me if I would like to try some mock tests, I said yes please. At the end of the mock test, the AI asked me which bot gave the better response. What do you mean by "which bot?" I thought each prompt generated two responses from a single model??
Long story short, the platform does not provide the proper tools to evaluate responses correctly. Although it may seem small or irrelevant to some, I personally find it extremely unfair and misleading. Had I known that I was judging two completely different systems being sent the same prompt, I would have evaluated them accordingly. How can DataAnnotation expect an evaluator to give an accurate analysis while hiding the structural setup of the question? How many potential evaluators read the rules literally and failed for doing so? Ultimately, it feels rigged and deceptive.
The assessment is a contradiction in and of itself. And I don't want to hear "Ohh thousands of people pass the assessment test each day" Well to that I respond if you will hide the necessary tools from the questions you give, you'll probably rig how it's graded. 🤔
Anyways.... regardless if I pass or fail, this is my stance. All is not fair in Ai and war. For anyone planning to take the assessment, keep in mind that the rule book seems to have changed. Now you're expected to be a mind reader, medium, and an evaluator. Judge accordingly. ... 😀
Great Platform — But VERY Inconsistent
I love this website, it's honestly my favorite way to make money online — however, there are a lot of droughts/periods without work on this platform. I haven't been able to work on any projects for approximately three months after making over a thousand on it, but I finally have work coming in again. So, great platform but sadly it is not the most stable, so just keep that in mind.
Poor customer service
Poor customer service, And later fails to pay you.
Broken onboarding and terrible support
I put in significant time and effort to join their platform. I was accepted after passing their screening and everything seemed good to go. After this I had to complete ID verification and this was apparently successful however not long thereafter I was asked to re-verify with VPNs turned off, browser extensions disabled, etc with which I complied and was again successful. I thought all was good however I was then notified that I had to re-verify AGAIN which I also complied with and was again successful. After doing this I was notified of needing to re-verify YET AGAIN and at this point I again complied (successfully) but then attempted to contact admins about my verification issue and received no response. I tried again and received no response and the end result is a bunch of wasted effort -- including doing a number of their trainings and working on a handful of small tasks -- without having any means to contact them to rectify the situation. Really disappointing and low quality experience for what is supposedly a high tech organization.
Great first impression, but stuck waiting on Core Evaluation reset
I really enjoyed my experience with the Starter Assessment back in June — the platform was clean and the test itself was genuinely interesting, which made me keen to get started properly.
Unfortunately, when I went to complete my Core Evaluation about a week later, I found myself on the standard holding/completion screen, even though I hadn't started or submitted that test. I've emailed support three times since then explaining what happened and asking if the Core Evaluation could be reset, but haven't had a reply yet.
I did try to see if I could resolve it myself by re-applying with a new account, but I'm unable to unlink my PayPal email to do that, so I'm a little stuck! I'd really appreciate it if someone from the team could take a look and help get this resolved for me — happy to provide any account details needed. Hoping to get the chance to actually start working, as everything about the platform so far has made a good impression.

I signed up for Designer projects
I signed up for Designer projects, but when I log in, only 4 bilingual tasks appear, none of which are in the languages I speak, Portuguese and English. I try to contact support, but the button to submit a question is blocked. I can't find another way to communicate with the company. I await a solution.

No update or response after completing…
No update or response after completing assessment
I completed DataAnnotation’s starter assessment after responding to a job advertisement. After submitting it, I received no decision, expected review timeline, or meaningful status update. I also contacted support to confirm that my assessment was received and to request an update, but I received no response. My concern is the lack of transparency and communication after applicants spend considerable time completing an unpaid assessment. The company should provide confirmation, a realistic review timeline, and a clear acceptance or rejection notice.
Predators.
This application like many others, operates on a predatory user-acquisition model, extracting significant time and effort for minimal financial return.
Candidates are enticed by false exclusivity and inflated promises of upcoming projects, only to be funneled into extensive, unpaid assessments.
In practice, the platform functions primarily to harvest participant data and leverage uncompensated labor, with legitimate paid opportunities rarely materializing.

This company is helping too many peoples to solve their problems and to make their life simpler.
No projects
No projects. Its been over a year and i still havent seen or received any projects. Like why did i even waste time creating a profile on this platform and verifying my identity, uploading documents just for them to not even give me 1 project. It shows empty when i log into my account there are no projects, never.

Do NOT use DataAnnotation
Do NOT use DataAnnotation to earn USD by completing AI projects. It is a scam. I was welcomed onto the projects' website and passed all criteria and tests. I then completed several projects and was paid for these. (Fortunately, the earnings were paid into my PayPal account so I was able to retrieve my remuneration.)
I also received a pop up message from them saying I was a 'top editor'. However, after this, there were no more projects available. I therefore completed all the "qualifications" projects which they claim, if completed, you will be sent more high-paid projects, although these "qualifications" are unpaid. I completed around 20 hours of work as such. I was hoping to be sent further paid projects, as promised, only to find 0 projects every day for several weeks. Then, I received a random message that I have been kicked off the site, saying my work did not meet their "customer's quality standard" and/or I have "breached their privacy agreement". This baffled me as I have over 30 years' experience in the industry of academic proofreading, tertiary education and tech quality control/CI. I followed all their instructions and recommendations. I also fully complied with all their privacy requirements and did not use AI to complete any task, as required.
Please refer to other 1-star reviewers on Trustpilot, who submitted similar 1 star reviews, explaining they were unable to retrieve their earnings, and that DA have kept their money and have not shown any attempt to pay them.
This is a criminal activity that needs to be investigated. You cannot expect to rob people this way and get away with it. No morals, no scruples, no explanation, and definitely a complete lack of humanity.
DA was definitely NOT worth all my effort. Beware of this site, as the way you are treated is inhumane, and I suspect it is set up so they can use free labor. Shameful. Criminal. There needs to be some consequences to their vulgar business model. Do NOT touch these guys!
Robbed me of 1000+$
I worked for them for a few months and it was all good at first. Until I made one simple mistake in time reporting that i IMMIDIATLY contacted them about and they answered me that it was no problem and that they would correct the mistake for me. So I kept working and a few days later BAM suspended! I had over 1000$ of salary not yet extracted that I can not extract. And they do not answer emails even though I have answered in the thread where they say the mistake was no problem and they appriciate my honesty. I has been months trying to contact them and authorities and 40-50 hours of work gone for nothing! Please do not work for these SCAMMERS!

Very creepy company
Very creepy company. After filling out several forms allowing them to access and use my data, i only worked a couple of hours and then there was suddenly no more work, with no option to withdraw consent. The support hasn't replied ONCE, I'm not even sure there is a support. This company is shady.
I applied and took the initial…
I applied and took the initial assessment but got no response yet for months. not even any notification if I passed or failed. I've over 20 years of experience in linguistics and the assessment was not complicated yet easy. I still wonder if I failed it or if they are just a scam.
Absolute scam
Absolute scam. Went through their application process and never even heard back from them and I know for a fact I did really good. Don't trust this absolute scam
Big waste of time
Tl;dr: Ignore all the nonsense about how much you can earn per hour, you're unlikely to earn anything at all.
Recently had this company pointed out as a "work from home" opportunity by Google's Gemini. So I signed up. Took a few days to be accepted, which they say is rare.
If that's true, I wonder how they get any work done at all. After I was accepted I got one paying job assigned, which was in a different "dialect" (in this case from a different country), which I passed up on because I wanted to deliver max quality. That might've been a mistake, as that was the last paying job I was assigned.
It's been several weeks, I worked several hours on unpaid assignments to prove my quality, but I've gotten zero jobs for it. One initial entry assignment was paid, so I've made ten whole bucks from all this effort! How will I spend all this money I've made from DataAnnotation?!
But seriously, what a joke. If I did something wrong, tell me. If you don't have enough work, just let me know. But this silent death stuff, it's just embarrassing. What a waste of time!
Unable to Contact Support Regarding Payout Issue
I have been using DataAnnotation and currently have over $1,290 in my account balance.
Unfortunately, I have encountered a payout issue that I have been unable to resolve.
PayPal has confirmed that Ukrainian PayPal accounts cannot receive U.S. business payouts, which prevents me from withdrawing my earnings.
I contacted DataAnnotation support and was initially communicating with a support representative. However, I have now been waiting for nearly two weeks without any response.
In addition, emails sent to support dataannotation.tech are currently failing because the mail server does not accept connections, making it impossible to open a new support request.
I am not claiming that my funds have been lost. My balance is still visible in my account, and I simply need assistance with changing my payout method or arranging an alternative payout.
If someone from the DataAnnotation team reads this review, I would greatly appreciate it if you could review my support case or contact me at my registered email address.
Thank you.
