Scam?
They came by my door arround one year ago and talked about how they making some fiber through our neighborhood and asked would I like to get connection. Said I have to check with my landlord. Then they offered to dig my landlord pavement road I anwsered No, then they tried to call me arround 5 times but before their closing hours so phone was ringing like for 3-5 seconds and then they droped the phone before any possibility for me to anwser. Finally they made normal call like one month ago I picked up and said I don't want any of their services and that we already have the other internet provider. Today I see letter in my mailbox with cancellation fees of 4500kr? I mean , I didn't even sign anything and didn't agree anything verbally or on phone. What's happening? Full scam? Can't believe this nonsense.
I ordered internet from GC and it…
I ordered internet from GC and it turned out they sent me a modem with the wrong Wi-Fi password. A new modem with the correct password was installed, and I was charged 3,000 NOK for the installer's visit.
I've been waiting for a resolution to my complaint for three weeks, and no one is taking responsibility.
The company is a failure because I have to pay for their mistake.
Aggressive and greedy
I’ve been a GlobalConnect (and previously HomeNet) customer for about ten years now, with just one short break. I always pay my bills.
Then one day, out of nowhere, my home internet goes down. No signal to the router. After some troubleshooting, I discover that GlobalConnect has blocked my line. Really? Why?
Eventually, I find out that one of the invoices from two months earlier hadn’t gone through for some reason, and that this was the cause of the block.
Alright, fair enough — I can fix that. I just need to pay the overdue invoice. Still, it struck me as odd that I never received any warning, reminder, or notification at all. Just a sudden disconnection. Completely unnecessary.
Then I learn that reactivating the line comes with a “penalty fee” of 500 kr. Creative, to say the least. A loyal, long-term customer gets the whip. Fine — I can live with it.
Two weeks after paying, the internet goes down again. Another block.
After contacting customer service and checking my online banking, I realise the old invoice still hasn’t been paid. In the confusion last time, I accidentally paid the newest invoice early instead of the overdue one. A simple mistake. I pay the correct invoice immediately, and customer service reopens the line. Good.
But of course, there’s a catch: reopening the line triggers yet another 500 kr penalty fee. Lovely. So once again, I’m punished — even though I didn’t actually owe GlobalConnect a single krone. I had simply used the wrong KID number. But that doesn’t matter; the system doesn’t care.
Conclusion: The product itself is good. The connection is stable, and the speed is as advertised. But the customer service is shockingly aggressive and money‑driven. I understand that GlobalConnect needs to make a profit, but this kind of behaviour leaves a bad taste.
I’ll definitely be looking at other providers who treat long‑term customers with a bit more respect. They do exist.
Great fiber, held back by poor hardware choices/policy
Fiber speed itself is good (~500/500), but the overall experience is unreliable due to the provided router (Icotera i3560).
The issue is not coverage or device load. I live in a small apartment (<60 m²), all devices are close to the router, and when Wi-Fi works the signal is excellent — even in other rooms. However, the entire Wi-Fi network periodically drops: all devices disconnect at the same time, and sometimes the 5 GHz network disappears completely. A reboot temporarily fixes it, which clearly points to a router/firmware problem rather than any “overload.”
We’re talking about a very normal setup (laptop, robot vacuum, Sonos), which any modern router should handle effortlessly. Framing this as a coverage or load problem misses the point. Coverage is already more than sufficient; the problem is stability.
What makes this more frustrating is the response from support. Instead of addressing the instability, the suggested solution was to upsell “WiFi 6 Premium” for an additional 19 NOK/month — i.e., a second Icotera unit as a mesh node. Paying extra for Wi-Fi features does not fix a router that randomly drops all connections. It just adds cost without solving the root issue.
To their credit, after escalation they did credit two months of service and reduced the ongoing rate — but only after pushback. The underlying technical issue was never solved on their side. I ended up replacing the Icotera with my own router (a Ubiquiti UniFi Express 7), and the network has been completely stable since — no mesh required in a 60 m² apartment.
Suggestion to GlobalConnect: offer a “fiber-only” plan at a reduced rate for customers who want to bring their own router, or at minimum let customers choose better hardware (e.g., a Ubiquiti UniFi Express 7) instead of pushing more Icotera units. Forcing the same equipment that caused the problem — and charging extra for it — isn’t a solution.
In short:
• Fiber line: fast and stable
• Apartment size / coverage: not an issue
• Provided router (Icotera i3560): unstable
• Support diagnosis: inaccurate and unhelpful
• Upsell (“WiFi 6 Premium” mesh): irrelevant to the actual problem
• Resolution: partial refund after pushback, but root cause unaddressed
• Own router (UniFi Express 7): fully stable, no mesh needed
The fiber service is worth paying for. With open hardware support and honest troubleshooting, this could be a great product.
Great fibre connection, but zero Wi-Fi configuration options
GlobalConnect fibre delivers excellent performance over Ethernet with full expected speeds.
However, the ISP-provided Wi-Fi hardware is fully managed and heavily restricted. Even basic settings such as SSID changes require support assistance, and end-user configuration is limited to power cycle, WPS, and factory reset. There is also no visibility or ability to check or optimize Wi-Fi performance (e.g. channel selection, band steering behavior), unlike what is typically available with other routers or ISPs.
In practice, this limits the ability to optimize Wi-Fi performance in multi-device environments, despite the underlying fibre connection being more than sufficient.
Support is responsive, knowledgeable, and helpful, but constrained by a platform choice that prioritizes centralized management over user control and network optimization flexibility.
For technically experienced users, offering an optional advanced configuration mode or a more open router option would significantly improve usability without impacting standard managed deployments.
Perfect for users who do not want to think about their home network, but every tech-savvy user will likely be disappointed. While it is possible to use your own hardware, that should not be required to achieve basic configuration control and performance transparency.
Worst service ever
Worst service ever. Two interruptions of several days (week) in two months without any informations and vague update. Stay away from them! Those guys have no expetise and no techincal service/help on site. Amateurs. They just want your many and hope for the best ... Worst in this case.
I've been trying to get a TV package service for over a month without success with Riks TV. They keep saying the error is from Globa lConnect and that my internet speed is very week it is 3 Mbps. Moun

A customer for 16 years
A customer for 16 years. GlobalConnect Norway, formerly known as Homenet, is located in Kristiansand, Norway.
They have the best customer support on the Internet. I have only had problems with lost connections three -- 3 -- times in 16 years! Just one phone call and they fixed it in a matter of minutes.
Shout out to the support team in Kristiansand from Tor in Oslo...

Poor customer service....long delivery
The intetnet was installed on the 19th week. It was such a horrible experience dealing with the poor communication and service from global connect. Their customer service from the chat and review responses seems to be AI generated. Phone support cannot seem to even get in contact with their contractors and resolve issues on our behalf. Ultimately we ended up calling the technician ourselves for an update. I'm disappointed. It was really challenging for me to get work done for months but whatever. I hope others have a much better experience.

Still no internet 4+ months
Still no internet. It has been more than 4 months! Their technician claims the box they need to access is frozen. Absolutely horrible. It's almost spring. So you tell me that the company can't deliver internet in winter? How do other companies do it then? We signed up with them because they said our neighbors downstairs used their services so the connection would be easy. Complete scam! They claim they would escalate it to their suppliers. They offered me 1 month free 1 month ago. Well I received my free month apparently since the internet still has not been installed. I really can't believe they would be so uncaring toward their customers.

Avoid this company
UPDATE:
I contacted them as their reply suggested. They told me that they were sorry for this and that they would send the money back. I waited for 2 weeks but they never sent it.
I contacted them again about it and this time they told me they have nothing in their systems saying that they would return the money.
I asked them to check this again just to receive an sms later saying that the contract allows them to charge me that money so they are not going to return any money.
This really is messed up how they treat their clients. Do yourself a favor and avoid them!
ORIGINAL:
I can confirm what other comments say about this business.
I ended up paying 4500kr for a service I never received. Stay away from Globalconnect!
This is my long story with them:
A salesman contacted me to offer their services. I explained to him that the building I live in does not have fiber installed and it is not possible to install it. The salesman said that it was no problem and they can figure how to do deliver Globalconnect's services.
I accepted because he promised it can be done and their prices are quite good. I waited for more than 2 weeks for them contact me back and send the person to install it (it seems they wait these 2 weeks so you cannot use your right of withdrawal)
The Globalconnect guy tried to install the service and he was not able to install it as I told the salesman.
After some months they contacted me to check if I have had installed the fiber myself in the building (I rent my apartment and I don't own the whole building to do this kind of work).
I explained them that I can't do it. They told me they can't deliver the service unless I do it. I explained to him that it was not possible so we should cancel the contract since it is not possible to deliver the service. He did cancelled the service. However I received an eFaktura for 4500kr!!!
I called them again to ask why I was getting this charge if the service was NEVER provided. They said that it was for canceling the service. I insisted that it was not my fault, that I warned them about it. They told me I had 2 options. To pay the fine or to hire them again and do the fiber installation myself and they would remove the eFaktura.
I accepted to hire them again and figure out how to convince my neighbors to allow me to do the job but they did not remove the eFaktura.
I called again to ask them why. They said they had to wait 14 days to do it (exactly the right of withdrawal time). However, the eFaktura was going to expire sooner than that and they told me they were going to delay it but they never did.
I had to pay the eFaktura to avoid any escalation or credit problems for me and cancel the new contract again

Excellent customer service!!!
The customer service is right on point! I have read a lot of bad reviews prior to setting up our deal with GlobalConnect, but I must say I am super pleased with this service! We had some initial issues with setting up our wifi, some similar to other problems I have read on here, but all of the delays were actually caused by Telenor, and not by GlobaConnect. The customer service were available at all times and we never had to wait for help or replies. Everyone we have spoken to have been super helpful, kind and patient. While setting up we had some complications figuring it all out and we had a lovely support worker on the phone without throughout the whole proces, patiently helping us making it work, and staying on the phone until everything was woking perfectly. Today I reached out to set up a guest-wifi and it was done within minutes! This is honestly some of the best service I have experienced. Excellent!

⚠️ SCAM COMPANY – FAKE CONTRACTS & FRAUD! any contract with this…
I never signed any contract with this company, yet they sent me a fake invoice for services I never ordered! After I refused to pay, they fabricated a "contract" and sent it to a debt collection agency. This is clear fraud and document forgery! I have reported them to the Norwegian Police and Forbrukertilsynet (Consumer Authority).
Avoid this company at all costs! If they try to scam you, report them immediately!

Unbelievably bad - Please read and chose another provider
This is an average experience on lag spikes during one hour :
19:15
19:20
19:43
19:46
19:53
I have an average download speed that is less than 1/20 of what is advertised.
I live in a 50m² apartment in the center of Oslo, I had to buy a repeater because Wifi didn't reach some areas. Again, 50m² (one of them being 3m away without wall).
Customer service did nothing and said nothing was wrong on the line.
Today Wifi has been dead since yesterday evening.
Great experience ! (y)
Updated 1.1 : See the great recommendation below to contact customer service ? Here's my experience :
1 - I fill the form : no answer
2 - I call : I'm told to use the chat messenger system on the website
3 - After waiting for 30 minutes the chat closes itself (still during opening hours) without any interaction with anyone and sends me a survey to rate my experience from 1 to 5.
Update 1.2
A week later we still not have received any kind of intervention from the service provider. I managed to reach them via the built-in chat in their website, they claim to have created a case for this event and sent a new power supply.
Important information : they're not even sure this will solve the issue.
They claim to have sent it, yet refuse to send any form of tracking, we have now spent, as mentioned a whole week without WiFi. Of course there is not a single form of compensation either, not even for the additional costs of 5G.
Update 1.3
A week later they tell me the power supply is out of stock and they have no idea when they'll be able to send a new one
I have lived in several countries and have had Telenor, Telia and GlobalConnect in Norway and I can say in all certainty this is the lowest level of service I experienced in any kind of service company, all activities confounded.

Worst company ever
We placed an order during the summer and were informed that the fiber network would be delivered within three weeks. We followed up repeatedly and were promised that they would contact us when the technician was scheduled to come. After six months (!!!!!!) of waiting, we received an email stating that they could not deliver after all. No apology was given for the delay or the additional trouble this caused us. Most rude and unprofessional company We have ever met

Absolutely terrible service from start…
Absolutely terrible service from start to finish! Digging down the fiber was took over a month and a half of our road being blocked and destroyed with drainage ditches being filled in and rocks thrown everywhere blocking a main walking path. Communication has been appalling with bo information or planning. Installer turned up when I was at work and just screwed a box onto our brand new renovated house in the wrong place with out any notice at all. The deal I was promised at the start with extenders I wasn't allowed.
Every single part of this whole process has been the worst experience it could possibly be. I could not warn people enough not to use this company!

Huge delay with fixing and bad customer service
I ordered your services since January, you promised the installation within 8 & 4 weeks max in 2 calls, but you installed it near the end of June. Your employees made me think that fiber is not connected to my address at all as they found ridiculous reasons for the delay. They don't even know when is the installation date or how long is it going to take. I had to call several times for the installation and complained many times with no response from your side. One of your employees laughed when we told her we're going to move to another company if it will take longer to install. The installation was very simple when your technicians came, yet it took them 5 months to come. No digging needed no physical connection from the central.
5 months of time wasting and money with no compensation or even an apology.
