Out of the blue i had an email from them stating due to a billing issue they not been able to collect payments. I remember vagulary using the app once in march tried to cancel. since then I lost my wife and have a serious illness to deal with. I am not working and cant afford what they are demanding. I reached out to support who cancelled my subscription and said they would refer my outstanding payment to their account team but then responding saying basically tough. I find this outragous other subscription apps would suspend the account for none payment but they didnt , no notification ,nothing. given what I have gone through I find this company heartless and no empathy on my situation. I have asked for a complaint to be raised but they close the support email

Easy to use and good value for money if the magazines you require are included, unfortunately I took a break and when rejoining I've found a lot of items I previously read was no longer available due to the publishers pulling their stock. (Flypast as an example). Still plenty of content to peruse.

Constantly spam mail from the french company, no unsubscribe links in the email, they try to force you to register, to unsubscribe. This company is atrocious junk spam fraudulent.
If you receive a spam email from them, report it to the European Data Protection Board Member List, they will receive punitive fines!

Slow difficult to navigate app. Took payment following trial which had been cancelled. Awful, slow customer service.

Nothing went wrong. I just haven't had time to use it yet. So really I can't give you feedback!

Continuous and constant spam.
Requested numerous times to unsubscribe and then account deletion.
Once you engage with this outfit you will never get rid of these parasites, if my experience is anything to go by.
They have contacted me as a result of this review - I will add the results here

Couldn't cancel my subscription as they botched the App and it kept telling me they were fixing it. Then received an email stating they would be taking £90 from my account in 2 payments. I didn't want this subscription and Readly trapped me in it then have the audacity to try and charge me. I've already informed my bank that if they try to take these funds, it should be referred to the police as fraud.
To the person from Readly who commented below. No, it is not easy to cancel the subscription, many of us have tried as you can see by the 1 star reviews and people disgusted at being charged because of YOUR mistakes.
I attempted to cancel my subscription in March 2026, but your platform encountered a technical error that prevented completion.
Under the UK Consumer Rights Act, I am not liable for charges incurred due to a failure in your digital service. Please cancel my account immediately, backdate it to March, and confirm that my balance is zero.

Such a wealth of information amongst a vast selection of mags

As many others have said this app was seriously downgraded by the new owners. It is less intuitive, has lost magazines but by far the worst issue for me is the time it takes to open a magazine (2 mins is common, sadly I have timed it). I am about to cancel as this makes it unusable. I have contacted their support. I have been with Readly since 2017 and previously thought it was great.

Avoid. Cancelled my subscription a month ago as not using it. Received an email stating I owe them 7 months of missed payments due to a payment failure on their system and going to debit 2 payments of £45 in November. Absolutely fuming. At no point was I notified that payments were being missed. Why did they still allow the subscription to continue if they were not collecting payments this should have triggered my subscription being cancelled. They had the audacity to infer that my subscription would be brought up to date without interruption after the payments have been collected! I cancelled a month ago. Extremely angry at this. I would not recommend this company. Update since this review they tried to further collect a month's subscription on 28th October when I cancelled 15th September. Their excuse is different to the email exchange I have had. It was a fault their end NOT PayPal. Diabolical.

I’ve been a Readly subscriber for years. I used to love going for a coffee with my Dad on Saturday mornings, spending a few hours together while I read my favourite magazines.
After he passed away I barely used the app, but I kept my subscription for those occasional times I went for a coffee by myself. Unfortunately the app’s performance also seemed to have deteriorated recently.
Today I received an email saying Readly intends to collect £77.94 in two payments in November, covering seven months of missed subscription payments. Their explanation was a delay in transferring my payment information when my account moved to Cafeyn.
At no point during those seven months did I receive a warning that payments weren’t being collected or that a balance was building up. Their published terms describe notifying customers when collection fails and stopping access after unsuccessful attempts. Instead, my access continued and I’m now being presented with an unexpected bill.
I had no problem paying the monthly subscription I signed up for. Being asked to cover seven months in two lump sums because of a problem on their side is a very different proposition.
When I contacted support, the initial response gave cancellation instructions but did not address the outstanding charges or my concerns about them.
A service I once associated with lovely memories has become a frustrating experience. Customers deserve prompt notice when billing goes wrong, rather than a surprise demand months later.

I was very impressed with the amount of content there is

I signed up for a free trial of Readly in February of 2026.
This was during the time that the app was transitioning to a new version which I found incredibly unusable. It is more of a PDF viewer where you have to continually pinch zoom in and out to read a magazine and then zoom out to swipe to the next page,
I didn't want to continue with the trial but could find no way in their app of cancelling the subscription.
I received no email to suggest that the trial was coming to an end and that I would have to start paying.
I kept monitoring my bank account but as no payments were going out and I hadn't received any communication I had to assume that it was no longer active.
In late October I received this:
"We're writing to let you know about a small update to your account. Due to a delay with the transfer of payment information as your account moved to Cafeyn, we were unable to process your payments over the past few months. Rest assured, your access remained fully active the entire time, so you never missed a moment of your favourite magazines and newspapers."
They then informed me that they would take 90 GBP from my account "retrospectively".
At no point in the last 7-8 months have they given me any indication that I had an active subscription or given me an opportunity to cancel.
Sounds incredibly illegal to me so I will have to initiate action against the company to dispute this.
Their subscription cancellation procedure remains "email this address to cancel" but doesn't show any other info.
Shocking experience.

Dealing with Readly is quick and efficient. The helpdesk is just that, friendly and the response is quick. Not that help is needed very often but nice to know. The selection of newspapers and magazines is impressive- something for everyone.

Some hiccups as a result of the merger but they seem to be getting their act together. Many thanks to Melody for the online help.

Because of the change of ownership I had problems activating a gift subscription. It finally got sorted out with the help of Dalal who was very helpful and courteous throughout.
