Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 67 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Customers frequently report deep frustrations with the unhelpful customer service team and the absolute lack of accessible support channels or phone numbers. Many people also experienced persistent technical errors when booking tickets online, alongside significant financial difficulties in obtaining prompt refunds for cancelled, duplicated, or mistaken orders. Some people were satisfied with the genuinely helpful staff members they encountered during their visits to certain locations. A few reviewers also explicitly mentioned receiving kind gestures, complimentary items, or pleasant service from specific employees despite the wider systemic problems noted by other customers.

Extremely cold screen at Leicester Square

Saw Godzilla Minus Zero on the Superscreen at Cineworld Leicester Square on 5 November 2026. The screen was extremely cold during the film. I emailed customer services about it, but that address replies automatically that it is no longer monitored.

White rose cinema

White rose cinema
Very discriminative. My 15 year old and her friends went to watch a movie but my daughter was smaller than the others and was denied access as she didn’t have proof of age on her. No matter what she said they wouldn’t have any of it. Massive let down and huge waste of time. Not impressed and extremely dissatisfied in the level of discrimination and disrespect.

Booked to watch The Dark Knight

Booked to watch The Dark Knight. Was really excited to take my son to watch a masterpiece. Arrived after a long journey only to find out they'd cancelled all screenings at Cineworld Wembley due to a water issue. Took ages to even get a refund and there wasn't even an apology given. Contacting customer service by email was a nightmare. The movie is no longer in theatres so I can't even watch the movie. Extremely poor!

Cineworld app gets worse.

Just when you thought the Cineworld app couldn't get worse they upgraded ..
and yes it's worse.
Now I can't book for my family who have their own unlimited cards, so from becoming slow and clunky it's now a right pain to book inline. Unbelievable that it could worse but, no surprise, it has. My advice, use Odean cinemas.

Fine cinema ..Awful customer service

While the cinemas themselves are fine. Customer service is atrocious. You're supposed to be able to refund tickets two hours before the showing but the option to doesn't show up on either the website or app. Yes I have an account. Contacting customer service results in an automated response that does not help

Refusal to amend ticket date.

Accidentally booked (very expensive) tickets for the wrong date online. Asked Cineworld if we could change to another date. They refused because we didn't book through a Cineworld account.
They could easily amend the date but chose not to. No customer service, no compassion, no understanding. Just a flat refusal and hiding behind their terms and conditions.
Cineworld are just another money-grabbing, greedy, immoral, corporate machine who only care about money and having your details so they can constantly spam you. No wonder cinemas are dying.
I'll never use these rip-off merchants again.

Cineworld York

Cineworld York. Popped in early to check on my hearing aid compatibility, both Jenny at the ticket sales and the ( I believe Manager in charge) could not have been more understanding and helpful, two special young employees you have there. Sound was ideal enjoyed the experience, will use this cinema as 1st choice from now on.

On Tuesday the 25th August 2026 it was…

On Tuesday the 25th August 2026 it was my very first time visiting Cineworld located in Bury St. Edmunds, I was looking forward to watch the new Spider-Man movie. When I first heard this young lady told me the price for a single ticket I thought and said wow the price has gone up a lot, I didn’t want to argue just simply pay for it and quickly went out of the building because I have to go to M and S. I think I was at the counter around 15:05 when I purchased the ticket. Out of curiosity, I only checked the price of a single adult ticket online on Thursday evening, I remember last time I watched a movie was only £7.99 which was 6 months ago! I also believe this girl purposely over charged me for some reason! Their response was our staff would not purposely overcharge you but never asked me how much I was charged or even suggest they would investigate the matter and come back to me. No questions asked and just leave it as that as I was bothering them! I have proof how much I paid and if they investigate and their CCTV they will see I haven’t purchase other items other than paying a single adult ticket. I will confront the manager next time in there! This is not how I expected to be treated on a complaint. No questions asked no investigation carried out!

Volume painfully loud and damaging

Volume painfully loud and damaging. I went to have a pleasant afternoon, not to get hurt. We went to see 'The Odyssey' at Birmingham iMAX on 28th Aug.
During the screening, the volume levels reached dangerously high peaks. My Apple iPhone’s environmental noise tracker—logged sustained exposures between 90 dB and 101 dB lasting for approximately 30 minutes. According to health and safety standards, un-earprotected exposure to 100 dB is unsafe after just 15 minutes. It hurt our ears, and it's still uncomfortable the following day. It is so difficult to find a customer service contact to send the screenshots, Please take care and don't get your hearing damaged. I will update this with any future updates.

Terrible experience

Terrible experience, had Clubcard vouchers which showed on the booking but were not taken off my final bill. Customer service non-existent, you cannot even call them now you have to do everything by email. When they do finally respond they don’t answer the questions you have asked just give a general response about you cannot cancel bookings, something I never asked for, completely useless

IMAX quality…awful seating

Genuinely really poor experience with seats in a supposed premium imax experience almost in the screen. Neck pain should not be what you leave with after a quick visit to the foul smelling male bathrooms. Avoid Edinburgh Fountainbridge if you can.

The film was fine but the experience…

The film was fine but the experience was ruined by the freezing uncomfortable theatre, surly rude staff and the £100 Parking fine after leaving the car park 18 minutes late. Will not be returning to Cineworld Llandudno any time soon.

Cineworld booking experience

Cineworld booking experience

Booked Cineworld tickets, but never received a booking reference and the tickets aren’t showing in my account, despite the payment being taken from my bank account.

I’ve spent the entire day trying to contact customer services, only to receive automated emails, with no clear contact number available anywhere.

Going to the cinema should be an enjoyable experience, not a stressful day spent chasing a booking and trying to get help. Really disappointing customer service and a very frustrating experience.

No good unless you are very young and 100%fit

No access for someone with a disability. No staff around to help and advise. Seats crammed in. Overcrowded and disorganised with queues getting in each others way.
Finally at the end through the long credits the lights were still dimmed and we needed to use phone torches to guide us out safely down the steep steps

Watched Odyssey on Sat 25th July in…

Watched Odyssey on Sat 25th July in Llandudno, air con wasn’t working and it was incredibly hot and uncomfortable for a 3hr movie, complained through their website and zero response as expected, have been going to that cinema as a family for over 20 years, won’t be going again, cost is high and the place is a dump.

No customer service been charged twice…

No customer service been charged twice for my booking coming up and still waiting on tickets being emailed to me tried to contact cineworld with this matter with no reply back 3 adult and 1 child ticket cost me £43.57 but they have charged me twice and can't get anyone to talk to to sort this matter out.so frustrating and cineworld should be held accountable for there actions.
My advice is stay away from booking online with these lot, reading other reviews I am not hopeful of getting my money back.

Lack of Customer Sevice

I received an email from Cineworld saying that a 19:30 showing of The Odyssey on 23 July 2026 had been cancelled. I was advised to amend by booking. I went to my Account selected bookings and cancelled the 19:30 tickets I had booked. I tried several times to book the 19:00 showing on the same date. I could only get so far as an error message appeared, it said I had already booked to see the film. I contacted Cineworld Customer Service several times, asking them to amend my account so I could rebook, but the issue was never resolved. All I received were several automated emails, that didn't address the problem.
Cineworld needs to have actual staff members dealing with queries and resolving issues, not automated emails.

Illegal additional charges after submitting payment

I wish I could add screenshot as evidence. I've been charged a higher amount than what I agreed to pay.
I opted to buy a family cinema day pass for £30.70. There was a £3 postage fee so this brings it to £33.70. The button for pay £33.70 by clicking here took me to the payment page. After I submitted my card details I had a confirmation email that I'd paid £38.70. They wacked on £5 after I'd submitted payment for £33.70.
This is surely illegal?! The email then stated the family pass was £35.70. Fortunately I have screenshots as evidence, but be careful as this is unacceptable.
