I have personally banked with another bank for over 30 years. When I joined a HOA board, I was "obligated" to use FifthThird services. I wish I hadn't. I expect the same services and servi... See more

You ruined it by merging and removing the most important part of a physical bank the tellers..tellers at all your branches have been lowered to save money and it’s ruining the flow by causing massive delays in lines and turning into Bank Of America❔. Might as well change your name to BoA
ZERO assistance after account fraud!
While sitting at home tonight watching TV, Fifth Third sent me an email saying someone had just used my credit card # and told me to call immediately if I didn't recognize the charge. I called immediately, but got sent to AI & finally referred to a Chat rep who told me I'd have to wait until tomorrow to call the dispute dept. When I asked her how to lock the card so the fraudster could not keep using my card in the meantime until tomorrow, she refused to answer me and left the chat!! Her name is KIM KEILAH. Needless to say, I'll be closing my 53 checking, savings & credit card and use a better bank!!!
When something happens to your checking…
When something happens to your checking account and money is taken out of it fifth third makes you wait 10 days to get your money back no other bank makes you wait they give you your money back in a reversal then check into it and if they find out it's your fault then they take the money back from you not the way fifth third does it they make you wait 10 days and then if it's not your fault then they give you your money back we need our money now not in 10 days so I will be changing Banks
Fifth Third is the worst bank - do not use them!
I was a happy Comerica business checking customer, and the last 3 weeks since the merger have shown that Fifth Third does not care about customers AT ALL.
I never received any communications about the merger; I generally used the Comerica app, so I only found out about it a few days before the change. I never received this alleged "welcome packet" in the mail at all. I followed all the steps on the website, and lo and behold, I did not have access to my account on the first day.
The website said to call for assistance, but the person on the phone could not help me (she also was "unable" to look up an account with the account number, only with my online banking ID) and the only option was to make a 3 hour round trip to the branch. I did get access to my account again, but the staff at the branch was not the friendly Comerica staff I was used to; the new people were rude and cold. I told them I wanted to close the account as soon as a refund I was waiting on cleared, and to shut off my debit card so no new purchases could occur.
Three weeks later, MANY phone calls, online chats, another 3 hour round trip to a branch, the account is still open.
There is literally no way for me to get any help. Today they say I have to go to a branch or write them a letter and mail or fax it to a local branch to close the account. Yesterday I was told I did not have to involve the branch. So another 3 hour round trip, or finding a way to send a fax, which I'm sure will end in more frustration.
There seems to be nobody who actually knows what is going on at Fifth Third and can actually provide help. I did speak to one supervisor, who was sympathetic, but kept repeating the same stuff that doesn't work.
One person answered the phone with people (children?) screaming in the background and just yelled "hello?" over the noise, not identifying herself or the bank.
I cannot say one positive thing about Fifth Third customer service. It is a horrible company.
Customer service I consider Elaine…
Customer service I consider Elaine Lathon to be my personal banker. Very professional, takes care of my issues in a timely manner and informs me of updates in services I may be qualified for without being pushy.
Frustrated
I was simply making a deposit and cashing a second check. I was told they couldn't do that because the account reflected my first initial and last name instead of my full first name. I have been banking here for 41 years and have been through several name changes/acquisitions. This last one has not been a great experience. I think it is finally time to find another bank.

I accidentally withdrew money out of the wrong account at the ATM which put the account in the negative, I called Karen and she was able to rectify the situation immediately, professionally, and with compassion, she was so kind, then went into the bank that same day and had another great experience with Bank Teller Mike, who is always friendly & professional, what a GREAT Staff, it's a joy interacting with these Bank Employees!!!
Great experience overall!
My interactions was great from the start with no waiting time. The agents were very polite and helpful. They answered all my questions and were very knowledgeable. The bank environmentade me feel at home not like I was just a number. The process was easy and fast.
Why I'm leaving 5/3 Bank
Threatening me with fees if I don't put more money in my checking account, which typically has a balance of over $15,000, was the last straw. I'm interviewing other banks and will be leaving 5/3 as soon as I can make arrangements. I have been with 5/3 since 1999 and you have the worst idea of customer service, garbage interest rates compared to other banks (you lost my savings account earlier this year of ~$100k because you couldn't give me a decent rate - Marcus is giving me 3.75%), and have made small banking issues such a hassle I have to come into a branch to get it sorted (like when we needed to reset my minor son's pin number on his debit card). These are just a few reasons of many that I'm disgusted with 5/3.
I was with Comerica Bank since 2012
I was with Comerica Bank since 2012, and I honestly cannot remember having ONE major issue with them in all those years.
This transition to Fifth Third Bank (53) has been the WORST BANKING EXPERIENCE I have ever had!
I have THREE accounts with them, including my business accounts, and I have not been able to use Zelle since the merger. I already took time out of my day to physically go into a branch to get the issue resolved. They couldn't fix it and gave me a number for Zelle instead.
Trying to actually reach someone at Zelle has been nearly impossible.
So I called 53 again for help, and their solution was to tell me to GO BACK INTO A BRANCH and try again.
WHAT?! I already did that! The branch is the one who told me to contact Zelle in the first place!
At this point, I am DONE. I am literally headed to the bank now to close ALL THREE of my accounts.
This isn't just an inconvenience. I run a business. Not having access to services I depend on affects my business and, ultimately, my customers. I should not have to keep getting bounced back and forth between companies trying to get a basic banking service working.
After being a loyal Comerica customer since 2012, this transition has been beyond disappointing.
If you are not currently banking with 53, based on my experience, PLEASE do yourself a favor and think twice before opening an account with them.
I don't deserve this level of service, my business doesn't deserve it, and my customers certainly don't deserve to be affected by it.
I'm done. All three accounts are being closed.
Dawn was extremely helpful
Dawn was extremely helpful, knowledgeable and patient. She guided me step by step in opening my account ,while being friendly and helpful. Being a senior citizen I truly appreciate her patience . Her reassuring manor was greatly appreciated. She answered every question without making me feel silly or uncomfortable. I totally appreciate all her efforts.
Being able to do what I went to…
Being able to do what I went to accomplish. The tellers are always friendly and helpful. They ask if there is anything else they can do to help me. I prefer going in, rather than through the drive-thru, because I like the interaction with the employees, rather than from my car.

The Absolute Worst
This is the absolute worst banking experience ever. As a Comerica customer being transitioned to Fifth Third, I was on hold and talked to 3 different reps who were never able to help me. It takes up to 14 days to approve a new phone number...14 days with no access to my money while traveling out of the country. The next day, I tried again and even soke to a supervisor who couldn't or wouldn't help. I can't wait to get home and change banks.
It was great and i love this bank
It was great and i love this bank, like i said im sorry for going crazy on overdraft, this is the first time i’ve used it and i promise i will get all the money back.

I help my parents with their banking…
I help my parents with their banking and was part of the Comerica merger. HORRIBLE! I tried calling and after waiting 30 minutes the person who took the call disconnected. Tried to get an ATM card from the website chat, it claimed it was going to be mailed to me but never was. So i tried calling again several times to check on if it is in process (been about 10 days) and every time i press the assigned extension to replace a card it disconnects me. Went back to the website and same - asks me to sign in to get into the chat and bounces me in circles after i log in. Thought i was being clever scheduling a phone appointment with the branch. Got a confirmation in my email but the time came and went with no call. So i tried calling the branch number in the email. No one picked up. My last options is to go into the branch and see if I’m successful. Don’t want to bank here!! Who is working for who?
