This project has been taking a back seat for a number years now. I will trying to revive it. I need another multimeter to play with and to make some time. I will also need a way to interface with the new multimeter, as I currently don't have access to a machine with a serial port.

2.0.0 alpha will be bumped to 2.0.0. I will be adding window (win32) support. More than that, the serial interface will be overhalued to this end.

Further testing is bing done, but the 7th November should see the first release in the 2.x series. I am considering adding database support : mysql and postgres, but is just a nice to have, not a prioty.

The release was pushed back one week to allowing for more
sms testing.

Tmon 2 alpha 1 should be ready for release at the end of this week (7 March 2003). The realease will include two daemons: one for getting readings, and the other for "tmon" status . The will also be two new clients for getting "tmon" status, the difference being that the one is command line based and the other a gui (based on python's tk interface - Tkinter). Unfotunately, I have been occupied by other projects. But,
when this projects resumes, a rewrite of the SMS sending interface will be done. The interface to 'gnokii' will include a python extension. Right now, support for python 1.5.2 is planned, but there is no real reaon, other than time, that python 2.x won't be supported.

I am currently considering the next release to be version 2 as there are other features to be added. Plus, there maybe a rewrite of the serial port interface to support other platforms that python runs on.

1.0.9 is currently being tested. This version has 'smsssend' support removed. A separate X - interface (GUI) may be included, as well as a TCP server. I haven't yet decided if the GUI will act as a client or not.

Please note the 1.0.8 RPMS have files missing from them, that is why I removed them. Get 1.0.9 instead
which should be in by no later that Wed Apr 24, 2002.

Note - 1.0.9 will have 'smssend' support removed.

TMon 1.0.8 is due for release on 19 April 2002.
The release will include major code cleanup for alerts and logging. 'gnokii' support will be added for sending SMS's. There will also be some minor bug fixes.

I am currently consider adding a tcp/ip server and client in the next major release, say 'tmon' 2.0. So 'tmon' would now have at least 3 components,
i) the daemon (reader),
ii) the server
iii) and client
The daemon would be 'tmond' as is, or possibly without the alerts, but with the reading, logging (file/syslog) and status. There 'server' would be there to provide readings (and status) to 'clients'. 'Clients' would possibly be used send alerts and log readings.

I am currently looking at "gnokii" as an alternative to "smssend". Alerts may possibly be sent via "gnokii" in future releases, or both "gnokii" and "smssend" - this is the most likely option. I will also be looking at other means of sending SMS's.
