Arthur Christ Agnos (born Arthouros Agnos; September 1, 1938) is an American Democratic politician. He was the 39th mayor of San Francisco, California from 1988 to 1992.[1] He was the Regional Head of the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development from 1993 to 2001.

On December 13, 1973, Agnos was shot twice in the chest at point-blank range. He said he lost a year of his life to recuperation.[2] This was one attack of the Zebra murders and attempted murders in the city from October 1973 to April 1974.[3]
