I open my computer and search up some academic websites for my research. It loads for a minute. I try to fix the issue. Resets, restarts, Alt-F4. Nothing works. On a whim, I decide to open my task manager. Fortinet uses 90% of my memory. I open my settings and see that Fortinet is using 70% of my storage. I turn off my computer, but I can't.

Three hours pass. My computer still hasn't turned off or closed. It is unfunctionable.

Another hour passes. I'm half asleep at that point. Then, in the corner of my eye, I see it. It finally loads! I'm filled with joy until I see the words:

Fortinet has blocked this website. Reason: unrated.

I smash my computer against the wall.

Fortinet is giving tung tung tnug sahru sigma skibidi chaos in the worst way possible. It’s like the network equivalent of a brainrot boss fight where every click spawns another problem and every menu opens a new dimension of suffering.

The setup has full “bro what is this” energy. You try to do one normal thing and suddenly you’re in a labyrinth of licenses, policies, logs, and random settings that feel like they were coded by a caffeine-fueled goblin. Pure sigma? No. Pure struggle.

The interface is so unsigmaly that it actively drains your aura. Buttons are hiding, options are buried, and half the time the device acts like it forgot what you asked it to do. It’s giving lag, it’s giving confusion, it’s giving “please reset and pray.”

And the support? Major sahru moment. You go looking for help and end up in documentation limbo, where answers are technically there but spiritually absent. The whole experience feels like a skibidi web blocker blocking your patience instead of the internet.
Overall, Fortinet is a big tung tung tnug sigma skibidi mess: powerful maybe, but so aggressively annoying that it turns every task into a brainrotted side quest.

Update to firmware 7.4 removed SSL VPN and IPSEC VPN didn't work at all, only way to get VPN was through ZTNA but, once the trial license ended there was no more access without buying 25 licences.
My "Premium" support did nothing to resolve the issue.

After purchasing the EMS service, Fortinet couldn't activate the non-refundable license and "Premium" support had no idea what hardware or firmware I was using, just some guy reading the PDF I already had.

A week later, (8 months after killing VPN) Fortinet updated to 7.7 and fixed the VPN.

We'll be changing to another vendor later in the year.

Fortinet blocks EVERYTHING as long as it thinks the site is a "game". Its's unusable I can't believe my school uses it.

ABSOLUTELY SUCKS! 0 out of 10! It's customer service sucks!. I have a IEP computer and fortinet is active on it. I'm one of those guys who likes Scratch and fortinet makes it plain unusable! It begs me to delete cookies and reset the wi-fi. and Its like it hates me. I heard from a friend that his mom is a teacher and Fortinet blocked attendance. attendance! It short it sucks

Pieces of sh*t! Zero support whatsoever. Biggest scammers and ransomware distributors in existence! You buy the product and they simply block it just because. And they give no explanation and just tell you spend 20k again and buy a new product, while admitting that they deliberately blocked it for no reason.

My school uses this forti net software to block almost every website i can think of, including wikipedia, game websites and others. It even blocks supermarket websites under the ridiculous excuse of "restaurant and dining". We actually needed these websites for a task we were doing in school, so we couldnt complete the financial literacy task. how are we supposed to learn with this terrible software blocking off virtually the entire internet? fortinet is basically a digital version of the "thought police" from the novel "1984". this trash software needs to be banned immediately or students like me wont be able to use the internet to learn, which in this day and age is essential. I dont understand why our school willingly uses this while being fully aware of the consequences...

Can’t go on 3D tuning or Spotify, some because of “uncategorized” blocks dirtbike, fishing, and any anything stupid like scary, we have securely and this old crap over yonder at school, actual hell but we manage to get round it

As a student i find spyware bad ngl it is extremely difficult to download a different browser like Firefox personally i have tried downloading vm software like VirtualBox it was blocked and called FREEWARE????
WTF HOW DO THEY KNOW MY PLAN??? HAS THIS HAPPENED BEFORE??? i have made and promoted the anti spyware act of 2026 in my school but no body listens to my cry for more privacy and i have a usb with vm software and a windows 11 iso tat i will use... 1 star...

The FortiClient extension is terrible. The thing is malware in disguise, and blocks everything, including sometimes new tabs. I created my own website, but I can't even reach it with the device I created it on. It is already rated 1.3 stars, and should get deleted from the chrome extension store. It blocks any game, and is impossible to take off, because task manager won't end the task, and clicking the icon does nothing. This would be rated 0 stars if I could.

The Company is very good. I dont understand the hate ?

FortiClient is really the worst VPN out there.
It is intrusive in the system (You cannot uninstall) and if it doesn't work the Log is useless.
You cannot have multiple installation in parallel, but every customer has its own installer.
Also, if I set up a new connection, it is gone after I click on save.
We are seriously thinking about denying our Service to customers with Forti.
I am writing this in private just to share the bad experience.
After some research for some hacks I was at least able to remove this piece of "Software".

I am writing to formally express my deep dissatisfaction with the support experience I’ve recently had with Fortinet firewall support.

The quality of support has been far below the standard expected from a company of Fortinet’s reputation. The support engineers we interacted with were not only unhelpful, but often displayed an arrogant attitude and a complete lack of basic customer service etiquette. At times, it felt as though we were being treated like we were receiving a free service, rather than being a paying customer entitled to respectful and professional assistance.

It is extremely concerning that your support staff seem unwilling or unable to communicate constructively during critical issues, which directly impacts our business operations. We expect technical competence, clear communication, and a collaborative approach to resolving problems — none of which were demonstrated.

We request that this issue be escalated to a senior support manager or regional account lead. Furthermore, we would like an internal review of our recent support tickets and a formal response outlining what actions will be taken to improve the service going forward.

This experience has raised serious concerns about continuing with Fortinet solutions in the long term.

Looking forward to your urgent attention to this matter.

Support barely exists, the first reply will not address any of the points you raised and is just there to get the response times under a contracted level, and it's not uncommon for a case to just go dark when the agent on the other end decides to stop replying when the case gets tricky. It's impossible to make a value argument for keeping a Fortinet product in support.

I use a website every day which never broke any of Fortinet's rules, but they set it as Phishing, even though it is not.

This website blocks everything even Capcut and Pngtree
