Sick of receiving their nonsense, time consuming emails. Our business respects creative work and has only ever downloaded images under licenced photo sharing platforms.

We pay for the licence, download an image and then over 10 years later receive aggressive emails expecting us to provide receipts to prove payment and the download history despite no longer having access to these email accounts or financial records.

I understand that someone may have fraudulently sold images to the platforms, but the photographer needs to take that up with the relevant platform.

Block Copytrack and don’t engage with them.

COPYTRACK appears to rely on automated image scanning to generate copyright claims, without first verifying whether an image was legally licensed through platforms such as Canva.

In my case, I received a payment demand for an image that was obtained as a Canva Premium image. Rather than checking with Canva whether the image had been legitimately licensed, COPYTRACK immediately contacted me with a claim and requested payment.

This approach places the burden entirely on the customer, even when the image was sourced from a reputable licensing platform. It creates unnecessary stress and requires customers to spend time proving that they acted in good faith.

From my experience, these claims seem to be driven by automated image-matching technology rather than a proper investigation into the actual licensing status of the image. Before sending legal demands, it would be far more reasonable to verify the licensing history with the platform that distributed the image.

In my opinion, this is not a fair way to handle copyright matters. A proper investigation should come before sending payment demands, especially when there is a realistic possibility that the image was legally licensed through a recognised provider such as Canva.

This company are hounding me. I sent proof that we used an image as part of a Shutterstock download package, but they keep requesting date stamped proof. At first I thought it was spam so deleted their messages, then they emailed someone else in our company. Their tone of voice feels very threatening . As we use a Marketing agency for our website, they are going to charge me to provide the info based on their hourly rate too, so CopyTrack are costing me money when I've done nothing wrong! So frustrating!

Helps unscrupulous elements to frighten people and companies to pay, by systematically mediating false copyright infringement claims. At present under the name RD Legal GmbH, not to be mistaken for a proper law firm. If you are a copyright owner with just claims, think twice before engaging this firm, since it will place your own professional credibility at risk.

Once again COPYTRACK tried to blackmail me into paying for a stockphoto that I have the rights to use.

COPYTRACK are by many professionals consided as a copyright troll. There are many guides written by lawyers and other professionals on how to handle their emails, just search on Google for "How to handle COPYTRACK".

These illegal scammers are contacting public businesses trying to shake them down with ludicrous demands. They know we have legitimately purchased licensed images because we just provided license of their questioned images, but they do not stop. They must be hoping we lost paperwork or didn't keep it, etc. to try to profit in what seems like extortion! AFTER we showed we have proper licensing to use images we paid for, we iniated a LEGAL CEASE & DESIST which they IMMEDIATELY VIOLATED. They have no respect for the law and please contact us if they sue you, because we would be happy to help show their illegal conduct. Why are these people not in jail yet? They could check their own sales records to see licenses, but instead, they're just hoping you didn't keep it so they can financially exploit you later. I paid less than $1 to endlessly, without expiration, use some of the images they're "inquiring" about, and now they're trying to charge me $900 EUROs to use that $1 image for 1 year only in a limited purchase. TOTAL SCAM AND SHAKE DOWN!

I have also just received the same email similar to what many people have described about this dubious so-called company claiming to be some sort of licence broker acting on behalf of YAYIMAGES. I will NOT be bullied or duped into paying out any money to these SCAMMERS who are taking advantage of copyright laws by trying to EXTORT money out of people. I for one will NOT pay them on the basis that the stock image in question is ROYALTY FREE, so they would need to provide formal proof of copyright ownership and their authority to represent the creator, which I strongly believe they DON'T. Happy to pay for something if informed, but no way would I ever part with their over-inflated amount of €350 compensation for past usage, or the €481.50 per year that they're demanding for on-going use (the same ROYALTY FREE image from Shutterstock costs just a one off lifetime usage of $18 or €21)!!
Personally, I would NOT even reply back to them! That's exactly what they preying on their victims to do (and pay up of course)!! This is clearly a SCAM and SHAKEDOWN!!!

They keep spamming and contacting website clients directly, even when there is no real licensing issue.

In every single website case, I have had the licenses fully in order. Still, they contact the client directly, which only creates unnecessary fear and confusion. In my opinion, this kind of business model is wrong and makes life harder for many website owners and developers.

Why not only 1 star? After enough messages, or after showing the licenses, they usually stop spamming and leave the website alone. For that reason, I give one extra star.

I do not recommend to work with this kind of companies just because of the business model. If they want to see the licensing they can sue me next time. Atleast that way they need to pay something for the effort!

L'entreprise existe bien en Allemagne mais leur méthode virulente pour récupérer 350€ pour 1 image soit disant non libre de droits, c'est un peu fort !

Filthy scam artists claiming copyright on Canva Pro Images. Thinking that the recipient doesn't have proof of ownership by finding something posted 3 years ago. Ha. Wrong. Idiots.

ich dachte, ich hätte mich in meinen letzten Mails klar verständlich ausgedrückt, nachdem ich Ihnen bei jedem von Ihnen aufgeführtem Bild in den letzten über 2 Jahren nachweisen konnte, dass Ihre sogenannten „Berechtigungsanfragen“ unseriöses Geschäftsgebaren sind und sie mit dem Urheberrecht anderer (u.a. von Bayer 04 Leverkusen, Polizei NRW, Pixabay, etc.) falsche Tatsachen vortäuschen, dass Sie jeglichen Mailverkehr mit meinen Redaktionen zu unterlassen haben.

Daher fordere ich Sie letztmalig auf, jeglichen Mailkontakt zu unterlassen. Des Weiteren behalte ich mir vor, Ihnen meine aufgewendete Zeit und die Kosten für meine Anwältin in Rechnung zu stellen. Das Stellen einer Strafanzeige ziehe ich durchaus weiterhin in Erwägung, da Sie u.a. in mindestens zwei (Polizei NRW und Pixabay) der sieben Fälle Ihrerseits erst nach Aufforderung Ihre Legitimation durch einen Auftrags-/Mandatsnachweis und des Urhebernachweises vorzuweisen, falsche Nachweise über die angeblichen Urheberrechte Ihrer Mandanten vorgelegt haben.

Ich werde nun auch bei dieser Mailadresse meiner Zeitung Ihren Absender vorsorglich sperren.

(Update) Mein heutiges Schreiben (11.06.2026) nachdem Copytrack/Rights-Defend eine angebliche Bestätigung der Rechteinhaberschaft mit einer Unterschrift in einer Word-Schrift gesendet hat:

Sehr geehrter Herr Schmitt,

in meinen Mails zu diesem angeblichen Berechtigungsfall hatte ich Ihnen, wie in den Fällen zuvor auch schon sehr deutlich beschrieben, dass Sie fälschlich einen Urheber angeben. Auch in diesem Fall liegt das Copyright eindeutig nicht bei Ihrem angeblichen Auftragsgeber und Rechteinhaber, wie die Copyrightangabe zu diesem Foto unter (im Schreiben habe ich die URL der Pressemitteilung von Bayer 04 Leverkusen angegeben, bei der auch eindeutig das Copyright beim Fußballverein geschrieben steht) abermals beweist.

Ich werde nun zum einen weitere rechtliche Schritte mit meiner Rechtsanwältin absprechen sowie die Presse-/Medienabteilung von Bayer 04 Leverkusen darüber informieren, dass Sie mit einer falschen Bestätigung der Rechteinhaberschaft dubiose Geschäfte machen wollen.

L’azienda reclama diritti d’autore su un’immagine pubblicata su un sito, ma io utilizzo solo immagini acquistate da siti come canva e altri.

Peraltro è una immagine che non apporta alcun valore aggiunto e ho rigenerato in 3 secondi con AI.

La contestazione appare pertanto del tutto infondata e configurabile come un vero e proprio tentativo di frode.

They make you think they represent someone, and when you ask for legal proof of it, they just say:
"Please be advised that COPYTRACK (RD Legal GmbH) is no longer acting on behalf of "X" in this matter.

Accordingly, COPYTRACK has closed this matter and will not take any further action or correspondence in relation to this matter."
