- While in Amazon's Product Safety and Compliance organization, I lead a team of over 30 software engineers and managers in delivering automated solutions to evaluate if products sold on the Amazon retail websites comply with the laws and regulations of the countries they were being sold in. My organization has distributed engineering teams that work closely with science teams to build best-in-class compliance and safety software using cutting-edge GenAI and distilled ML models. I lead the development of a suite of tools with the end goal of automating human operations such as risk identification, investigations, and unstructured document checks. For this purpose we built systems that perform checks on billions of documents and images every year to enable Amazon to scale its manual compliance and safety operations in a cost-effective manner. I frequently collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure the quality and reliability of the LLM prompts and custom ML models via continuous sampling and auditing of results. Additionally, I participated extensively in the technical recruiting process, conducting over 400 interviews to identify and hire top talent for the organization. As a team leader I was reviewing the designs that my peers were producing, providing in depth code reviews and advocating for best practices in software architecture principles, multithreading and performance.
