Francisca Santos liked thisFrancisca Santos liked thisIn recent years, I’ve had the opportunity to work closely with Joao Brigido while he was leading the Tabaqueira factory in Portugal. It was a journey marked by a great deal of collaboration during a period of major transformation for our business, during which I was able to observe firsthand his leadership, expertise, and ability to motivate teams. Exports rose to 91% of production and exceeded, for the first time in our history, one billion euros, a huge milestone for Tabaqueira, the 7th exporter of the Portuguese economy. That is why I am so proud to see him now take on a new challenge at the helm of Philip Morris International’s largest factory in the world, in Bologna, Italy. Congratulations, João! It was a tremendous pleasure to share this journey with you, and I look forward to continuing to follow your progress. The company has established its Generative AI Factory at Tabaqueira’s facilities in Albarraque, supporting PMI’s global operations from Portugal. 🇵🇹 Led by an international team of engineers, the centre develops and implements Generative AI solutions across different business areas, from industrial process optimisation and data analysis to automation and new AI-based applications. The initiative may involve around 100 specialists, depending on project requirements. 💡 The new AI Factory adds to PMI’s existing presence in Portugal, which includes its Tech Hub, the company’s second-largest technology centre worldwide, with more than 250 specialists, and a Finance Hub supporting operations across 180 markets. 🌍 The investment further positions Portugal as a centre for highly qualified talent, innovation and the development of technologies with global reach. 👉 Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gXq_Jegn.

Contrato de prestação de serviços por PJ não é blindagem automática contra o reconhecimento de vínculo de emprego. Na análise judicial, o que prevalece não é a forma escolhida pela empresa, mas a realidade da relação construída no dia a dia. Subordinação, pessoalidade, habitualidade e onerosidade continuam sendo os elementos centrais da avaliação. Quando esses fatores estão presentes, o risco jurídico existe, ainda que haja CNPJ, contrato formal e emissão de notas fiscais. Um dos erros mais recorrentes nas empresas é a simples substituição do contrato CLT por um contrato PJ, sem qualquer alteração na dinâmica real do trabalho. Mantém-se horário fixo, controle, exclusividade e integração plena à estrutura interna. Esse tipo de prática não caracteriza prestação de serviços. Caracteriza risco. A pergunta estratégica que deveria orientar qualquer decisão empresarial é direta:se o contrato sair do papel, essa relação ainda se sustenta como prestação de serviços? Se a resposta for negativa, o passivo não é uma hipótese. É uma possibilidade concreta. Prevenção trabalhista é gestão. O colmo da corrupção não é escondê-la. É automatizá-la. Há meses, a Albânia anunciou uma “ministra” de inteligência artificial — Diella — para combater a corrupção na contratação pública. Um gesto simbólico, vendido como neutralidade algorítmica e modernidade institucional. Rapidamente a coisa descambou no espectáculo: anúncios surreais, narrativa tecnológica excessiva, comunicação acima da substância. Agora, o desfecho irónico: os criadores da IA foram detidos por corrupção ligada à manipulação de concursos públicos. Isto não é um falhanço da IA. É um falhanço humano, político e institucional. A tecnologia foi usada como cortina de fumo: prometeu objectividade para evitar escrutínio, vendeu neutralidade para diluir responsabilidade e simulou inovação para esconder problemas estruturais. Num sistema viciado, a IA não corrige — automatiza. Não há atalhos tecnológicos para défices de Estado de direito. Algoritmos não substituem instituições. E nenhuma IA compensa a falta de ética, transparência e controlo democrático. A IA não é boa nem má. Amplifica o que encontra. Se o sistema é frágil, ela fragiliza. Se é corrupto, ela escala.
