Founded in 1954, Arnold Clark is the UK’s largest independent, family-run car retailer. The company started with a single-car showroom on Glasgow’s Park Road, given flight by its founder’s simple philosophy: to offer genuine value for money and customer service of the highest level.
Nowadays, Arnold Clark has over 180 branches across the UK – selling over 200,000 cars a year in locations stretching from Elgin to Southampton. With over 20,000 used cars, new cars, nearly new cars, new vans and used vans in stock at any one time, customers can buy their next vehicle in branch or even online from the comfort of home with Click & Collect. The company continues to stand apart from its competitors thanks to its industry-leading ‘Best Deal Guarantee’ – a commitment to offering customers the best used car deals in the UK.
Beyond car sales
And while Arnold Clark is a name that’s synonymous with vehicle sales, there’s much more to the business than you see on the showroom floor. The Group offers everything that a customer might need for the onward journey, with parts and servicing departments, an accident repairs division, and insurance services.
Driving the EV future
The company has also significantly invested in EV technology and the future of the automotive industry – launching its own UK-wide, ultra-rapid charging network with over 500 charge points, and acquiring EV charge point installation provider Bumblebee. Since taking these steps, Arnold Clark has been recognised for its commitment and investment in EVs – winning ‘EV Retailer of the Year’ at the Motor Trader Awards in 2022, the ‘Innovation Award’ at the Auto Trader Retailer Awards in 2023 and EV Advocate of the Year at the AM Awards 2026.
Continued expansion
The Group continues to expand its footprint with a vehicle rental and fleet management operation (Arnold Clark Car & Van Rental and Arnold Clark Leasing), vehicle auction division (Central Car Auctions), security alarm and fire safety provider (Assure Alarms), EV charge point provider (Bumblebee) as well as an industry-leading training group (GTG Training). With five dedicated training centres across the UK, GTG Training provides high-quality training courses and education across a wide range of disciplines, including Business Skills, Computer & IT, Health & Safety, Transport & Logistics and Automotive Technical.
Giving back to our communities
And while its business operations continue to flourish, Arnold Clark remains committed to giving back to the communities it serves and supports. This is demonstrated through its continued support of local schools, charities, community groups and sports teams through initiatives like the Community Fund and Gear Up For Sport, as well as high-level sponsorships of events like the Kiltwalk. Since its launch in March 2021, the Community Fund has helped over 20,000 organisations across the UK from a wide range of backgrounds.
