True Passion combined with maximum of security

With so many surf schools on offer in Portugal, it's difficult to find "the one".
Exactly THE ONE can be found with Rui.

I was able to discuss with Rui in advance, without obligation, whether he could fulfill my wish of "green waves" surfing.
I already had a good feeling about this trip.
I booked the 5-day hostel option.
Everything went smoothly in the run-up to the trip, there were no problems communicating via WhatsApp and picking me up from the airport with Uber was also relaxed.

This was my third time surfing (2nd time in a surf camp) and it was different! Rui completely lives the passion and mindset for this sport! He feels at home on and in the ocean and you can feel it. I have never felt as safe as during these surf sessions with Rui, no matter what the conditions were like. His preparations, individually tailored to his guests, are incredibly precise.
Plus the smallest groups (I was lucky, I was alone, so 1-to-1 coaching!) and changing bays. Perfect for learning a lot. Plus his joy when you catch a wave, an absolute booster.

Personally, Rui and his wife Magda are really nice people. In the end it felt like visiting friends and not a surf camp that just wants to make a profit.
I'm not a fan of visiting the same place multiple times, but Rui (and Magda 🫶🏼) we will meet again and surf the next real green waves together!

The Perfect Reset Button (Thank You Rui & Magda)

I'm coming off the back of a 2024 that tried to kill me...

This retreat had the perfect blend of activities & time to myself. I've never surfed, and wanted to be in a safe but uncomfortable environment that would push me.

However, as this was my first solo trip so there was a fair bit of pre-booking anxiety. During this period of time, I reached out to Rui, and he was accessible & reassuring throughout, which gave me the confidence to take the leap.

It was the perfect retreat...
- Learned how to stand on a board (sometimes!)
- The instructors & other students were an absolute delight, and look forward to keeping in contact with them

Mostly though, I found my confidence with regards to solo travel & looking forward to the next retreat.

Rui & Magda are two of the kindest & coolest people I've met. Learning to surf, with the backdrop of this gorgeous city (with terrific wine & food) was an experience I'd highly recommend. Just do it, it will be worth it, trust me.

Rui is an exceptional instructor for taking you to the next lvl at surfing

Rui is an exceptional instructor for progressing from beginner to intermediate. I was fortunate enough to have 4 private sessions with him, which allowed me to learn a great deal. His communication is clear, and he knows how to take you to the best surf spots, not just the popular ones in Ericeira. I highly recommend him!

Amazing trip to Ericeira was made 10/10…

Amazing trip to Ericeira was made 10/10 after our surf lessons with Rui and his team! He took us to the best locations and the secret beach on the last day! They were all really enthusiastic, patient and great teachers. We always felt safe and had an incredible time! Would recommend 10/10!!

Super surf holiday - highly recommend

My 14 year old boy and I had a super few days surfing based in Ericera. Rui and his team at Sea Crew were very knowledgeable, motivating, affable and ferried us around the best spots up the coast every morning. We both progressed really well in the four days.

They also took us some great local spots for coffee, pastries and other local delicacies, which also encouraged some great discussions with our fellow travellers from around the world.

Surfing alone within 5 days

I booked 5 days of surfing with Rui. I started without any previous knowledge and at the end I was able to paddle out to the sea alone and surf the green waves there. Rui is a very experienced surfer who has an incredible feeling for the right surf spot. He also prefers to choose sandy beaches. The lessons take place in a small group so that Rui has the time to look after everyone personally. Another plus point was that he used the trips to our destinations to show us local bars and cafes. The atmosphere with Rui and the other participants was very pleasant throughout. And on the last few days, some very nice photos were taken that were well worth seeing.

Surfing experience.…

I had never surfed before and I had the pleasure of having Rui as an instructor. He is an excellent professional, very attentive to everyone, he showed us beautiful beaches and most importantly, he always put our safety first!

I highly recommend his classes!

I've done a number of surf lessons…

I've done a number of surf lessons across the world and Rui's was by far the best. Our experience was booked for 2 hours and he took us on a 4 hour lesson/tour to make sure we found the best waves.
His lesson was thorough and interesting, full of stories and important tips to help you make the first steps into surfing. Where other people would just teach less than perfect fundamentals, Rui takes the time to prepare you for actually learning how to surf. He's in it to welcome you into the beautiful world of surfing, not just to let you dip your toe in.
A great experience and an awesome guy. I will be dreaming about that legendary drop for a while!

Rui es una persona con mucha experiencia en el surf! El día de ahora ha sido increíble el tiempo y la enseñanza de calidad que da con los diferentes consejos, mucho conocimiento en la lectura de la ola, y técnica; aparte de ese gran aporte me llevo a conocer un pequeño restaurante local pero delicioso! Surfing with Rui in Ericeira - An Exceptional Experience!

If you’re looking for a top-notch surfing instructor in Ericeira, Rui is your guy! I had the pleasure of taking a lesson with him, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience.

First off, Rui perfectly tailored the lesson to match my skill level. He chose an excellent beach location and took the time to thoroughly prepare me before we even hit the water. The in-water lesson was incredibly instructive and adapted to my pace and learning style.

What made the experience even more convenient was that Rui picked me up and dropped me off at my hostel, which was super helpful. Although I had booked a group lesson, it turned out I was the only student that day. Rui gave me a one-on-one session without expecting any additional payment, which was unexpected and greatly appreciated.

Beyond the surfing itself, Rui shared valuable off-the-board recommendations to enhance my surfing skills for future attempts. His tips on mindset and yoga really showed his commitment to his students' overall success in surfing.

Rui’s personable and friendly nature made it feel like I was spending the day with a friend rather than just a surfing instructor. He also took the time to show me some local gems around the area, from hidden beaches and picnic spots to fantastic local restaurants.

Such an amazing experience!!!
Rui is an amazing coach!! Very experienced surfer. He did not only teach us how to surf, but also a lot about surfing and the history and the conditions of the coast. He also showed us amazing restaurants and gave a lot of recommendations and when the waves simply weren't suitable for our level, he found an alternative programme for us to do instead of sending us into waves, that weren't beginner friendly. He acknowledged our level and found the perfect spot for us to learn (more secluded, less people) and made sure we weren't overwhelmed and left with a positive feeling even though we weren't very talented. We loved every second of this experience !! We feel like having experienced portugal in such a unique way through surfing, 100% recomend, exceeded any expectations we had.

I had an incredible time with SeaCrew, it was more like hanging out with a friend really! Rui shared with me his passion and his love for his home town. I had a AMAZING surf week with Rui.

What a week!!! 😎
First he is known in the area for his past as a pro - that makes the experience even nicer - i mean he knows what he is talking about!!! We went surfing with video-analysis, picture session in the waves and next time we surf with the drone.. i learned a lot - surfed hidden spots and just had a great time. when i come back - Rui - you will be my teacher 🤙

Great surf teacher and guide

Rui is a great surf teacher and guide. He’s very knowledgeable about the ocean and makes sure that you feel comfortable and that you have a great time in the water. He knows a lot of spots on the coast and he also offers photo and video analysis to improve your surfing. Really nice guy, I highly recommend his service.
