I was having some serious difficulty getting my foreign drivers license exchanged and during the long wait for IMT to approve my application, my Canadian driver's license expired. José took care of all of the communication with IMT, and he was able to get an extension. My application was approved and I finally received my Portuguese license even though my Canadian license had expired during the process. José has been an amazing resource in helping us find accommodations that would take our three large dogs, getting our bank account set up, transferring our utilities (since our lease started and we aren't in country yet). Moving to Portugal under the requirements of a D7 visa does not necessarily requires owning property as a place of residence, but it requires at least a rental contract – something Mr. Flora has been helping other clients of his with great success. In our case, we initially wanted to buy an apartment as a place to stay during vacation visits, and which could also be rented out otherwise. Mr. Flora explained everything patiently and first helped us finding the right property by patiently accompanying us to inspect potential offers on sale. He then helped us to obtain NIF (tax) numbers and a bank account; in the process also introducing us to a local law firm that looked after all the legal aspects, as well as a local broker who facilitated setting up a mortgage and the necessary insurance etc. To be able to legally use the property for short-term rental purposes, Mr. Flora also assisted us in obtaining an AL (Alojamento Local) licence.

The next step was to obtain an appointment for an interview at a Portuguese consulate. The law firm helped us to create VFS accounts and to make sure we have all the requirements in order. Checking for an available interview slot can take many months, but once again Mr. Flora provided indispensable help and tips, drawing from his experience with his previous clients, and we were able to get an interview within a relatively short period of time.

When we finally sold our house in the USA and made the move to Portugal, Mr. Flora helped us once again in finding and buying a house for our primary residence. We can therefore wholeheartedly recommend Mr. Flora’s services for assistance in every aspect of moving to Portugal.

What I appreciated most was the feeling that I wasn’t just another case number. Moving abroad is personal. It’s stressful. José treated it that way.
