Process for the preparation of chlorotrifluoroethylene and trifluoroethylene by gas phase reaction of 1,1,2-trichloro-1,2,2-trifluoroethane in the presence of hydrogen and of a catalyst composition comprising a carbon-based support on which copper and at least one metal of group VIII of the Periodic Table of the Elements are deposited.
