Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a kit for promoting hair growth. More 10 particularly, the present invention relates to a kit for promoting hair growth and preventing hair loss, comprising (i) a first composition; (ii) a second composition; (iii) a third composition; (iv) a fourth composition; and (v) an instruction manual. The present invention further relates to a method of using the kit for promoting hair growth and preventing hair loss. 15 BACKGROUND AND PRIOR ART: Men and women around the world suffer from hair thinning and hair loss (alopecia). It is one of the major causes of concern for people all around the world.
  • Hair loss can be either temporary or permanent and can affect just the scalp or the whole body.
  • the most common types of hair 25 loss include male or female pattern baldness, alopecia areata, and telogen effluvium. As alopecia progresses, a transition occurs in areas approaching baldness, during which the hair itself changes from terminal to vellus type. It is known to reduce the size of hair follicles.
  • Hair loss can be caused by a variety of factors such as decreased hair root metabolic function, decreased hair function, reduced blood circulation, Alopecia Areata (AA), hormonal imbalance, drug side effects, stress, genetic factors and various nutritional deficiencies. Certain medications including chemotherapy, HIV/AIDS and hypothyroidism can also cause hair loss. Hair loss may also be 5 induced due to unhealthy lifestyle, heat or chemical hair treatments or textural inflictions to hair due to aggressive and repeated hair coloring and hair styling. Excessive styling and hair treatments can also cause hair loss. Examples of extreme styling include tight braids, hair weaves, cornrows, chemical relaxers to 10 straighten hair, hot oil treatments, or any kind of harsh chemical or high heat. Such practices affect the hair root, so hair may not grow back.
  • extreme styling include tight braids, hair weaves, cornrows, chemical relaxers to 10 straighten hair, hot oil treatments, or any kind of harsh chemical or high heat. Such practices affect the hair root, so hair may not grow back.
  • Medicinal treatments for alopecia include the drugs like Rogaine (minoxidil) and Propecia (finasteride).
  • Rogaine has been shown to reduce hair loss and promote hair growth in up to 10% of men with male pattern baldness.
  • treatment with it needs to be done regularly and has many side effects.
  • the treatment is also very expensive.
  • Finasteride is the active ingredient in Propecia (a trademark of 30 Merck & Co.) in tablet form and should be taken regularly.
  • Alopecia areata can be treated with steroid injections into the affected area, but these must be repeated frequently to be effective.
  • Surgical techniques such as Self-grafting or transplants, Flap surgery, Scalp 35 reductions and Scalp expansion and extension
  • Non- surgical techniques such 5 as additions of hair- bearing devices that can consist of human hair, synthetic fibre or a combination of both. These attachments are attached by a variety of techniques, and either existing hair or skin can be the fixation site.
