Abstract

The present disclosure is directed to a novolak resin composition comprising a modified novolak resin and a method of preparing the same. The modified novolak resin can be prepared from a hydrocarbylphenol, a vinyl compound modifying agent and/or a dimer thereof, and an aldehyde and/or ketone. The present disclosure is also directed to a rubber composition including the novolak resin composition comprising the modified novolak resin.
