Abstract

The inventions relate to devices and methods for monitoring the temperature of a surface. A device for monitoring the temperature of a surface is configured in the form of a temperature indicator label capable of irreversibly registering the fact that at least two temperature thresholds have been exceeded. The structure of the label includes a continuous flexible polymer base, the front surface of which has heat sensitive materials TM(T1), (TM(T2) applied thereto, each of which is capable of irreversibly changing the external appearance of the particular zone of the heat sensitive material and, accordingly, the particular part of the heat indicator label that has been heated above a temperature threshold. The regions to which the heat sensitive materials are applied are arranged alternately so that two or more alternate fragments can be distinguished on the same straight line. A method for monitoring the temperature of a surface entails registering the fact that at least two threshold temperatures have been exceeded and zoning the surface into regions. The inventions provide increased information content for visual inspections of equipment and increased safety of operation of various equipment, while also identifying the presence of a defect and the severity thereof..
